Mohamed Salah to Chelsea

Featured Replies

He was always very fast but he seems to have problem with finishing.

Finishing is one of his main strengths - his problems are decision-making in any situation which doesn't involve him having acres of space and giving the ball away far too often.

In fact, come to think of it, playing him as a second striker (as he apparently did tonight) is probably quite a good idea...

What's the deal with Salah? Will he be ours next season if we want him back?

As far as I understood Fiorentina have the option for a a full seasons loan which automatically triggers a clause that says they'll buy him at the end of the following season.

Whether we can override that loan should we want him to return hasn't really come up in any of the rumours.

Regardless, I just don't see Mourinho bringing him back.

Presumably yeah, although it's not looking particularly likely considering his excellent start to life in Florence, and also that he said this:

At the moment I don’t intend to return to Chelsea. I want to do well with Fiorentina. I spoke with Mourinho and told him I wanted to leave Chelsea and he was fine. The Italian League is of a high standard, I think that those [such as Cuadrado] do it simply to broaden their horizons and have new experiences.

Admittedly I haven't heard anything about the loan extension clause FC just mentioned.

Known as "The Walcott".

I think we have better players than Salah for that second striker role should we ever choose to go down that route.

Oh I'm not suggesting we do it ourselves. To be honest his move to Fiorentina looks like it has been for the best for all parties.

Good move from Montella to play him higher up. Okay to lose the ball as he's likely to do on occasion and can use his pace better.

That would have been a fantastic goal. Robben-like. Second one that hit the post was a good shot, too.

Other than Cuadrado.

I'd rather see a spot given to one of the lads than bring Salah back.  I think Mohamed has found a league that suits him, and will stay.  Fiorentina are having a decent run in the EL, and I could see him staying there.

That depends on how Cuadrado works out for us. If Salah keeps his form up and carries on scoring and assisting goals for Fiorentina, and if Cuadrado keeps getting little time to play here then we won't be getting anything out of this deal.

Bring him back next season.

And play him where? We've now got Willian and Cuadrado for the RW, having spoent about £55 on them, and Hazard is nailed on the LW.
