Paul Pogba - Needs to Sign!

Really like pogba, but for the same price we could get witsel, lacazette, and still have change.

I don't think we will spend more than 40m on 1 player for a long time. FFP will stop us being able to bring in the likes of pogba.

Not sure what big names will be available in the summer, there was quite a bit of movement last year with fabregas, costa, sanchez, di maria, falcao, suarez, kroos, rodriguez, and lewandowski on the market.

I don't think there will be anywhere near as much quality available this summer.

Well he was bang average today. He didn't dominate anything. Played at times like a flipping machine.

If that's his level in european games, we don't need him.

And don't tell me it's just one game. For that price that he must deliver much more.

I will say it is just one game because that is all it was. You can't expect someone to play well every single game they play, that is totally unrealistic, especially at his age.

:face_palm:

He's one of our own!

The Tallent is all there, I hope Jose gets a long enough stint to see this part of the project through (not to quote AVB) and that the lad can get the mental part of his game right. At one point i didn't think he would make it because he can look a bit bored and uninterested at times, then you see him turn it on and you think, just get that " I hate to lose" mentality and you will go to the next level

I sometimes think it's just too easy for him at youth level. He needs to be tested and that starts with training but he needs minutes too.

He has an unmatched combination of physicality and skill in our academy in my opinion. I like Pogba but I'd rather us save some money and give this lad a go.

he is a very good player in my opinion, but for me seems incredibly over priced. I have seen rumoured figures of 60m+. that is a ludicrous amount of money for a player who, yes does have a lot of potential but all he seems to do in my opinion is score the odd wonder goal and do a fancy piece of skill that just gets blasted all over twitter. I'm not one to turn down a very talented young player but for a very big price tag, I just wouldn't go for it. Also it would be a kick in the teeth for the youngsters working their socks of to try and catch the eye of Jose.

I think we have a job to do in the summer to improve our midfield options. Both Mikel and Ramires haven't featured much and I don't think either is a good option to Matic or Fabregas in central midfield. We could also use someone that can replace Fabregas in games where we want to use him in more advanced roles, without loosing to much of our build up play.

Pogba would be a great option to have, but might become to expensive with a £60mil+ pricetag. I think Kondogbia for under half the Pogba price would be a steal. He is strong, fast and likes to both pass and advance with the ball through midfield. I believe his skillset would work well playing alongside either Fabregas or Matic.

Kondogbia, from the little I have seen of him, while a very capable defensive midfielder, doesn't have anything near the attacking threat which Pogba poses. Pogba, while not explicitly a defensive midfielder, offers both a serious attacking threat as well as defensive discipline, like a modern Seedorf or something.

Pogba is more of a box to box player with more freedom to go forwards, while Kondogbia is a defensive midfielder. I don't think it's fair to speak about attacking threat when they have such diffrent roles within their teams. Watching both players I find their skillsets very simillar though. It depends if we need a upgrade on Ramires(Pogba), or Mikel(Kondogbia). With Matic out: how well would Pogba and Fabregas work togheter? Who would take the defensive responsibility and how will that effect their play?

Well that is my point, they are different players with different playstyles. They are given different roles within their teams because they are good at different things. I agree that Kondogbia and Pogba would (not that this will happen) be replacements for Mikel and Ramires respectively, and the difference between those two is as clear as night and day. It isn't the same as say, comparing Willian and Moses, who aren't entirely dissimilar players (although I would argue that Willian is far better) but have completely different roles; Willian is expected to support at Chelsea while Moses is a primary creative outlet at Stoke.

I think Pogba and Fabregas would still need a defensive player behind them, but a midfield three of Matic-Pogba-Fabregas would be ridiculous.

I want to believe the hype for pogba, but apart from youtube videos he seems like a hype job. I just think if he goes to a tougher league like the EPL or La Liga he won't fulfil his potential. I guess if others watch him a lot then they'll have a better idea of his talent, but i haven't seen much at all of him and all this hype surrounding him seems too good to be true, especially for the price that's been touted.

I don't think it has to be true that they are given the roles they have because they are good at different things, that might also have to do with what their team needs. As I said before I find their skillsets (strength, dribbling, pace, vision, passing) simillar , when I watch them play. Kondogbia likes to go past players and advance through midfield when given the chance. He also a very good passer and can thread balls through midfield when needed. Thats why I think he will work well alongside either Matic or Fabregas and would give us some depth in midfield, if suspensions, injury or lack of form happens.

Matic has all of these skills too but I still wouldn't say he is a similar player to Pogba.

Matic is not a good passer, not as bad as Ramires, but not much better either. Whenever Fabregas is missing I find our build up play is lacking.

Matic's passing is leagues ahead of Ramires'; he is surprisingly forward-thinking for a defensive midfielder and starts attacking moves all the time, and best of all rarely gives the ball away. Matic has vision, consistency and good execution of his passes, none of which you could say about Ramires.

the kid is 21 (twenty one!), 6,7,8 years away from his peak, and yet there is no player in the world with that combination of skill, pace and power. he does struggle to impose himself in matches, but this is only his third season of senior football.

btw theyve been saying the same for hazard. 'looks good on yt but nothing special, will be a flop in england'. i knew there was a special player in hazard, and i know theres a special player in pogba

pretty sure matic started as an attacking midfielder at benfica if i'm not mistaken, which would explain why he is so forward thinking.

That is nonsense. Pure and simple nonsense.

Is their 2 matic's? He must be talking about the other one.

Pogba and Matic would be the best 'pivot' (hate that word' in the world no doubt about it.

Cesc is too lightweight in mid so push him forward in place of Oscar and put Willian/Cuadrado out on the right.

Jake Cohen has even said now that we have a new deal that we can afford Pogba, something big is happening in the summer and we're going to be gunning for the CL.

Pogba is the difference between us and real, barca and bayern. Our defence is solid, yeah varane would improve it, but either way solid! Our midfield has a world class defensive mid, a world class play maker, a world class creative winger, we have choice of 2 top players on the right. We need our yaya, or our modric or iniesta. That man is pogba, even at 70m its worth it, he will make us world beaters.
