Diego Costa to Chelsea

Oh well, even if it's true, at least we got 2 games of seeing a proper striker instead of Torres.

A past it Drogba.

This is a huge blow

Why are we cursed with strikers?

Not a hope in hell we will sell or loan Torres now.

What sh*tty news this is

TItle challenge over already?  :laugh2:

I would expect that it's a 4-6 week job. There's an international break coming up so that's 2 weeks of no club games. Might be a case of damage limitation for the foreseeable as he'll miss Everton, City away and Arsenal at home.

Worry is Everton at the weekend, that's a huge game. I love Drogs but he looks rusty as hell and I don't think he's ready to start but we have no choice now.

Someone on twitter pointed out that if the injury happened this afternoon, why sit on it and why wouldn't it be in the evening papers? Breaking it now gives other papers time to catch up...and whilst sh*t if true, our squad is still good enough to beat any of our rivals and there is still time to get a new striker in.

If it is true I think we are genuinely less likely to sign a striker than we were before

If this does happen and we dry up on the goals front.. Jose has nowhere to hide

I'll not be having it if things go tits up and he starts moaning again about how his strikers are sh*te.. Stick by your decisions boss.. Make or break time for Jose I'm afraid

So two weeks into the new season and we're down to a 36-year old striker who can't play more than 30 minutes.

Nice work by the Board. Good to see they've covered all scenarios.

Nowhere else is running with this story though, no pictures or anything. Seems to be just the Sun, and according to them we have signed Aguero, Falcao and Cavani so it's fine.

Jose has leaked a fake story of costa being injured, hoping the board will realise what it would be like if he actually was, we take whatever we can to get rid of Torres and bring in cavani or Falcao, then come Saturday Costa starts, bags a hatrick and were left with two top strikers and a club hero that can get a run around in the cups.

I'm convinced Cavani is staying at PSG... or they would have signed Di Maria?

Everton struggled with Giroud's physicality from crosses... i'd say Drogba offers more of a threat than Diego Costa in that respect...

What the feck are you on about? Do you really honestly believe Jose has the final say in Torres staying or going? Did he sign him and give him a stupid 5 year contract for £175K a week?

Switch the feck on. Mourinho has played a blinder in marginalising Torres and finally bringing this situation to a head.

Direct your anger where it belongs, firmly at the feet of Roman Abramovich, for still looking for a transfer fee way in excess of his current worth.

How has it been brought to a head?! Jose banging the FFP drum and saying our squad is exactly how he wants it.

Last season our strikers were apparently why we didn't win the league as he so often reminded us. The glaring deficiency in our squad is lack of depth up top.. So if this costa rumour is true and we are left with drogba and torres as our options then there is nowhere to hide in terms of excuses

There are a few threads on here regarding the situation and the general consensus is we are short, so your "wake up" comment is unfortunately misplaced in this instance

It's not that much of a sickener. We're pretty fortunate with injuries compared to other clubs. The sickener is our bizarre have as few good strikers as possible policy. Every time I see Aguero in a City shirt I sick in my mouth a little.
