Diego Costa to Chelsea

1. Diego Costa, Chelsea

For the No. 1, though, we choose a player who has slotted into Premier League life as if he's played in the division for all of his career.

Chelsea's Diego Costa has scored four goals in his first three games for the club, and although that sort of stellar form will be difficult to keep up throughout the entire campaign, his scoring exploits for Atletico Madrid last season underline just what a special player he is.

He led Atletico to La Liga glory last season, and he'll be expected to do the same for Chelsea this time around.

From where he was 3/4 years ago it just goes to show what hard work and belief can achieve for you.

If only guys like Lukaku had the same outlook and desire as this man had/has then he'd go much further than I expect him to actually end up.

I remember watching him (Costa) 3 seasons ago it must have been and I thought this guy won't make it, looked raw and a bit of a hot head….then he went on loan somewhere...2 seasons later he was still a hot head but had improved tenfold.

I was still not convinced he would be what we required but ever since he came here he’s proven me very wrong indeed. He’s taken to Chelsea and English football like a Duck to water. He’s still only 25/6 and continues to improve…he’s a shining example to any of our up and coming prospects to not give up when they are sent out on loan but to use that chance to improve as a player and who knows maybe one day you could win the league with your team and get to the CL final!

The way Costa started, played so far, I don't view him not scoring for 4 or 5 games. This guy creates chances for himself even without the ball, his position to receive the ball has been spectacular and Cesc, Hazard, Oscar will find him. I predict, Costa will score about 25 goals or thereabouts.

Ladies & gents Costa is going for the Golden Boot.

But it was obvious that all we needed is a player who dictates and a striker who knows where to move. I think that cesc can feed shurrle like Gordon Ramsey on speed

Costa reminds me of Drogba in the sense that neither hit the big time until they were in their mid 20s

In a way yes but Drogba didn't turn professional until he was in his 20's...Costa has been playing longer and at a younger age than Drogba at pro level.

Costa started to make a bigger name for himself at 23/24...which isn't uncommon these days.

Well deserved and one of many to come I'd wager.

A beaming Costa, ecstatic at being named the Player of the Month in his first month in English football, picks up his award with the biggest smile he can muster:

It's quite nice to have graphics like these about Chelsea players instead of being the butt of the joke

Good news! Hopefully he's fit enough to start at the weekend, seems like he's almost guaranteed a goal a game now right?

What's the position on his chances of being in the starting 11 this week? We need him and I need him for my fantasy football team!!

Same here. I think i'm going to risk it and wait until the last minute to make the changes. I'm terrible for trying to get up early on a Saturday though so there is a chance i may miss the deadline like last time

I was about to take him out vs Everton but decided against it, and it obviously paid off. Probably going to do the same this week.

With nothing official from the club (AFAIK?) hopefully he'll be able to make it.

Correct decision by Barclays, anyone else and it would have been a travesty.

Shows how good he was to win it...chelsea players have to be on another planet to get recognised as hazard bizarrely found out last season...glad Jose missed out on the poisoned chalice of the managers award though

See I did the opposite. Driving home from work all the reports were that Costa would be out against Everton and when I logged on to FF website that Friday evening, he was orange and doubtful. So I took the bull by the horns and sold him and drafted in the City striker as they were at home to Stoke. Of course Costa plays and gets 2 and City fail to score and whatshisname got injured. What a f**k Up!!!

I'm changing my strikers this week regardless but don't want to spend big money on Costa if he isn't going to play!

I thought Sigurdsson did a lot better personally, although Costa is new to the league so I can see why he got it.

Likewise.

I sub him last time, after much thought but this time will leave him in, if he does not play they can sub my first sub in his place.
