What a surprise. What did Mourinho do exactly?

Attempt to breach the diamond fortress protecting the referees and their mates.

This is an oldish report, but I still find it disturbing:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/8365097/Liverpool-v-Manchester-United-chief-executive-David-Gill-tackles-referees-chief-Mike-Riley-over-Nani-treatment.html

Manchester United’s frustration at the performance of referee Phil Dowd during Sir Alex Ferguson’s side’s 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday spilt over at half-time as the club’s chief executive David Gill remonstrated with referees’ chief Mike Riley in the Anfield directors’ box.

Why the hell would he be in Liverpool's dirctors box?????

I'll be interested to see exactly what they allege Mourinho did.

The ban for Faria was to be expected, the one for Ramires is expected although they certainly do pick and choose who they retrospectively punish, don't they!

Aguero, Touré, Rooney - NO.

Bellamy, Adam, any Chelsea player - YES.

Regarding Riley being in the Anfield directors box, I googled for other instances, and came across this thread:

http://forums.liverpoolfc.com/threads/320055-BR-talks-to-Mike-Riley-about-refereeing-decisions/page3

Riley met Rodgers to discuss refs' decisions. Apparently José has requested such a meeting and been turned down.

Amusingly one of the posters on that forum said:

Nothing will come from speaking to Riley, just like it didn't when Kenny spoke to him. Besides, its not like Riley can phone up refs and say, "Listen guys, you've been doing a **** job with Liverpool, make sure you give them loads of pens in the future."

And another said:

Let's face it, Riley will do **** all to change the situation. He never helped us when he refereed so he's unlikely to help us now that he's hung up his whistle.

How little faith they had in the man.

Even if it is BLATANTLY sarcastic, how the f**k can you charge someone over sarcastic remarks? Are you really not allowed to even imply that a referee had a bad game? Joke decision.

I can see all of them being banned for a period of time. Jose has been fined before for slagging off Chris Foy so the next step will be a touchline ban.

He deserves his punishment no doubt about it, he can't do that regardless of the referee performance.

The F.A. are rubbish we all know that, they only act on media hype and they didn't stop Ferguson in time before he became a real bully to the referees that Ferguson was almost impossible to punish without the F.A. themselves getting into trouble.

Not going to argue with the decisions though, they are correct.

Can't do what, be sarcastic ? i don't see why not. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. If the F.A want the managers to speak to the media then they should expect emotional comments. The F.A a f**king pathetic, they really are.

Further googling of Riley brought up these snippets:

In April 2009 Everton played Manchester United in the FA Cup semi final. Mike Riley was appointed the referee and Everton Manager David Moyes questioned his appointment and called for an FA investigation into whether the official had any allegiance towards Manchester United [19] – a comment for which Moyes was not punished by the FA. No investigation was made into his allegations.

Arsene Wenger said after the match [in 2004 when Arse lost their unbeaten run]"Riley decided the game, like we know he can do at Old Trafford."

There is a clear precedent for Managers being critical of refs and not being dealt with. No surprise they plan to punish Jose.

Is there anywhere else in the world, outside of places like North Korea, where questioning someone's job performance warrants a fine into the thousands of pounds?
