Sending him out on loan is a good move. He will play regularly and in a good league. If he stays here this season, then he would struggle to get game time. Especially, if we sign Filipe Luis who will take Azpi's place at LB, who might consequently take Ivanovic's place at RB. He would have Terry, Cahill, Ivanovic and possibly one out of Omeruo or Zouma ahead of him.

How can the 19yo Zouma or 20yo Omeruo who have never played for us be ahead of Kalas?

Zouma was a starter at St Etienne and in all honesty Kalas only started 2 games for us. I reckon 2 out of Kalas, Zouma and Omeruo will be loaned out.

Varane is streets ahead of Kalas.

 

Easily arguable that Varane is already close to a top 5 defender in the world.

It's risky loaning him out, JT kept mostly injury free last season but the two seasons before that he's had long spells out with injury problems, and suddenly if we've sent our young defenders out on loan and with Luiz sold, we only have Cahill and Ivanovic.

Would make sense to keep him going into next season as he's the only one out of the others that can play RB effectively as well.

Yes we are 2 defenders shorter from last season. Luiz and Cole. Kalas stays and hopefully plays.

Kalas is in the squad already, Zouma and Omeruo are more strangers to the squad. Admittedly I have no idea of the level of these three players compared to each other.

I think Kalas must stay, he did only play 2 games last season, but one of those was a crucial game against Liverpool at Anfield and he played brilliantly, so I think he's ready to be our 3rd or 4th choice centre-back, and I think he will get playing time, Terry's not going to play 50 games a season, so we have Terry, Ivanovic, Cahill and Kalas, and perhaps either Zouma or Omeruo, I think that's good.

Well if you believe the papers Mourinho wants another centre back so if we do then it makes sense. Terry,Cahill,Ivan and then a new CB Varane, Mangala whoever we buy will be our 4 CB and Ivan can always play RB sometimes instead of Azpi. Then at LB we have Luis and Bertrand or PVA.

Am getting a bit fed up and disillusioned by all this, sorry to whine, I just want to see us taking chances on young players and them becoming a success with us rather than someone else, like Terry and Lamps.

With Zouma arriving its hardly a surprise. Putting Kalas in the shop window for a future sale maybe?

Zouma was always going to be the preferred option for the 1st team squad.

Not a bad move for Kalas as he wouldn't have got more than 6 starts for us.

Disappointing really, like I said before he provides solid enough cover for two postions. I don't think Zouma is that much better either.
