August 12, 201411 yr If the English kids are good enough they will play, it's that simple. When Dennis Suarez (academy lad who moved to Barca) left City he said the young English academy kids in PL teams are too concerned with buying fancy junk and mucking about than playing football. That's why they fail to cut it, not because clubs won't give them a chance That is exactly what it is, English mentality is completely different. Look at the English side compared to the German one in the world cup, they all knuckled down and lacked the stupid quiffs and fancy tattoos like the English players had.
August 12, 201411 yr I didn't say they were bought as strikers, I was saying that since you were tried to sign sanchez for 30 odd million, you have spent 45m on 2 more attacking midfielders. I don't think you can say sanchez was the Striker you after, I think had you signed him, then you wouldn't have got markovic AND lallana. I think you will be after another striker for pretty cheap, who will happily play second fiddle to Sturridge. Eto'o wouldn't be a bad option. Although it's strange how you haven't just used origi. reports suggested that they would have been bought regardless, who knows though. I think rodgers wants to play with one striker so its awkward for us, we need a proven striker who is happy enough to be second fiddle as you said, or risk getting a major one using sturridge as the spare which would be unfair and unnecessary. Remy would have been ideal tbh, disappointed that one hit a snag Apparently the fact we loaned origi back was integral in the deal. Haven't seen him myself really so i dont know if he'd be the answer to our shortage up front
August 12, 201411 yr Sometimes you just have to shake your head in disbelief in what people say. Vincent Kompany is an absolute colossus. His reading of the game, composure and timing are second to none. you can make a 20 minute compilation of his blunders that directly lead to goals

I can understand if he said it about the English players at CIty but not the rest of the PL teams.
August 12, 201411 yr Oh my dayum. Typical Real Madrid really. All their money spent on attackers, and their back 5 is pretty weak.
August 12, 201411 yr Typical Real Madrid really. All their money spent on attackers, and their back 5 is pretty weak. Yep I agree, but it's still an exciting line-up to see. Mourinho would never line up like this, and I expect Sevilla to show the world why.
August 12, 201411 yr Wasn't sure where to post this photo - thought this would be best thread. I don't know where and when the picture was taken. Admire the guy for his style in getting from one part of the ground to another. Can't see it happening today. Perhaps he was a commando practising. Were the rules, they had to purchase a flat cap in place of a ticket?!
August 12, 201411 yr That is a sexy midfield and attack, I must say. That's true but the defence of theirs is a fat ginger woman with bad breath.
August 12, 201411 yr Whenever I've watched Kompany he's disappointed. I wonder how he knows your watching?

August 12, 201411 yr you can make a 20 minute compilation of his blunders that directly lead to goals And how he was in team of the year is beyond me.
August 12, 201411 yr That madrid midfield look pretty weak defensively, but if ancelotti can make it work, it will be the best midfield in the world.
August 12, 201411 yr Where has "rags" come from? I haven't heard that until you started calling them that?
August 12, 201411 yr It's a friendly nickname we have given them, They call us the 'berties' I think, and recently I found out Arsenal fans call us 'gypos', We also refer to United's stadium as the 'swamp' and they refer to ours as 'the emptyhad'.
August 12, 201411 yr Where has "rags" come from? I haven't heard that until you started calling them that? this is what I found lol 89. rag A derogatory term for fans of the Manchester United Football Club used only by fans of Manchester City. The term originated in WWII, when Old Trafford suffered damage as a result of German bombing, and United were temporarily forced to play at Manchester City's grounds, which had suffered no damage on account of being such a shambles that German bomber pilots assumed that they'd already gotten it, and refers to homeless people, as in "homeless rags".It is assumed that most Manchester City fans are too stupid and/or too insensitive to realize the disgraceful implied mockery of the tens of thousands of Britons forced out of their homes as a result of the bombing campaigns. Manchester City fans still use this term despite the fact that Old Trafford was repaired decades ago, and is currently the largest club stadium in England, whereas they have trouble filling the seats in their much smaller, publicly-funded stadium at Eastlands 'Kin rags. I'd punch every last rag out if there weren't so many of them. I'll go spraypaint 'Munich '68' on some walls. That'll sort 'em. by Excallq April 07, 2011 Real Madrids midfield will get shredded by Barca if they keep this formation imo their attack is good though
August 12, 201411 yr It dates back to the 60's rivalry and that's about as much I know of why we call them the rags
August 12, 201411 yr The reason they call us 'berties' is because in one of their magazines there's a comic character named Bertie Magoo the bitter blue.
August 12, 201411 yr Any London rivals nicknames someone wishes to share with me? I know you call Spurs, The Spuds.
August 12, 201411 yr I don't call Spurs The Spuds. I call them "Those f**king c**ts!!!!!" hahaha and iof course White Hart Lane aka 3 Point Lane Gunners = gooners Used to call Rangers something but we got a letter from the Association of the Mentally disabled who asked us to stop associating them with QPR, it was hurting the Associations reputation.
August 12, 201411 yr It dates back to the 60's rivalry and that's about as much I know of why we call them the rags Think it stands for; Red Arrogants Gets. Remember a Manc city mate of mine telling me that one a few years back.
August 12, 201411 yr you can make a 20 minute compilation of his blunders that directly lead to goals Please be my guest. More than likely though you will find a few clips of him making the odd mistake next to hours of footage of him giving a defensive masterclass. If you honestly don't rate Kompany then that's your opinion... But it seriously brings into question your knowledge of the defensive arts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYxAvVjXyfA 2:44 onwards... this is what we see week in week out.
