I see it's still the Ronaldo show at Madrid. Once they lose him, there will be a lot of pressure on bale to perform at that standard. 

Please be my guest. More than likely though you will find a few clips of him making the odd mistake next to hours of footage of him giving a defensive masterclass. If you honestly don't rate Kompany then that's your opinion... But it seriously brings into question your knowledge of the defensive arts.

Wasn't sure where to post this photo - thought this would be best thread. I don't know where and when the picture was taken. Admire the guy for his style in getting from one part of the ground to another. Can't see it happening today. Perhaps he was a commando practising.

"Possibly" the best CB in football. Vincent Kompany is majestic and very much deserves to be considered amongst the very best.

Not sure when that was taken, but yeah, it was pretty much just the fashion back then. You can spot a few fedoras and even bowlers in that crowd too.

In 2012 I would have called Kompany one of the worlds finest defenders, since then he's done nothing but tarnish that reputation though.

 

Fortunately for him there's such a lack of world class CB's now, especially compared to 10 years ago, that he can still be considered one of the best.

Last season Terry was 10 times the CB Kompany was.

He's not even in top 5 CB's now. His form has been cagey ever since City won the title in 2012.

Manchester United has banned fans from bringing tablets and laptops to football matches at its stadium.

The club said it was reacting to "security intelligence", adding the restriction was in line with new checks on electronic equipment at airports.

It said that unlike at airports, it would be "impractical" at the stadium to check the devices were genuine by asking for them to be powered up.

Greater Manchester Police said it was not involved with the ban "in any way".

A statement on the club's site says the ban extends to large and small tablets "including iPad minis", as well as larger electronic devices.

Smartphones are still permitted as long as their dimensions are smaller than 15cm by 10cm (5.9in by 3.9in).

"The regulations at each stadium are a matter for the relevant stadium management authorities, however, the scale of Old Trafford and profile of Manchester United mean that the risk at this venue is unique," it adds.

A spokesman for the club told the BBC it had made the move after receiving "advice", but would not say from whom this had come.

He added the action was unrelated to concerns about fans using tablets to record video of matches, potentially blocking the view of others, as had been reported elsewhere.

Neither the Premier League nor the Football Association were able to provide comment at this time.

The government announced in July that passengers flying to the US or elsewhere who passed through UK airports needed to show that devices carried in their hand luggage were charged and could be powered on. The move followed a warning that US officials had become aware of a "credible" unnamed terrorist threat.

The airport restrictions cover phones, MP3 players and cameras in addition to larger kit.

Right, you guys are insane... I mean what the actual f**k is it coming to when i player as immense as Vinny is being doubted? John Terry, do me a favour, VK was immense last year in 99% of his games. You can bring up the odd mistakes if it makes you feel better. I'm sure it would take me seconds to find a whole host of JT's f**k ups... Does that mean he's crap too?

John Terry is a better defender than Kompany, that is indisputable.

Looked on youtube, 'john terry mistake', nothing much shows up

 

Kompany however...

 

Maybe the youtube savvy people all don't like Kompany.

 

But he did have a dodgy season last. Terry > Kompany easy.

John terry is and always has been better than kompany. Kompany was relatively poor last season, but was excellent the season before.

I remember JT having a bad day against the Arse in that 5-3 under AVB, although that was more down to AVB's ridiculously high line.

 

Aside from that I can't really remember him making any costly mistakes.

 

Kompany reminds me quite a bit of Joe Hart actually, clearly has a lot of talent and pulls off some fantastic stuff, then f**ks up with the easy stuff more frequently than they can afford too.

For such a supposed immense defender Kompany never seems to olay in a defense with a good defensive record, some blue moon tinted specs on by our City supporting visitor here.

Kompany is a brilliant defender, i think he has shown glimpses of being better than terry, but the other side of the coin is that he has more mistakes in him. Terry is consistently great and has been for quite a while.

Honestly, why would you expect any unbiased argument regarding comparisons between Terry and Kompany? In my opinion Kompany is a great defender who occasionally makes silly blunders. Terry on the other hand has been a rock for us and will always hold a special place in my heart. There is no point in thinking we can be objective on this.

 

Oh and objectively speaking Terry is a God and Kompany is sh*t.

JT in his prime was a better defender than Kompany and even now at 33/34 he's still better.
