December 3, 201411 yr According to Wenger, Arsenal will win the Premier League within 3 years, Real statement of intent right there, Not this year not next year but 3 years.
December 3, 201411 yr its probably, and quite conveniently, around the the time when he plans to retire.
December 3, 201411 yr Phil Neville just pronounced Bojan as Bohan, Why do we try and get all fake sophisticated with foreign names now days? He's Bojan and always will be Bojan, Not Boyan or Bohan. To be fair it is actually pronounced something like Boyan, I really don't think it's asking too much of them to pronounce one letter slightly differently.
December 3, 201411 yr Teritus, I have no problems with that but for years we have known him as Bojan so why suddenly has his name changed to Boyan or Bohan because he plays for Stoke? In his time at Spain I remember hearing the Spanish commentators referring to him as Bojan, It's more got to do with our commentators wanting to sound more eloquent and sophisticated by pronouncing it a little different.
December 3, 201411 yr It annoys me when English commentators and pundits pronounce names as if they speak the language. Like "Hamez Rodriguez"..Its James.
December 3, 201411 yr Yeah but if his name is actually pronounced Hames then isn't it more respectful to call him that instead of adhering to its spelling ? It should be on the people who have to say his name to find out how to pronounce it and not on the poor guy to be told in England his name is now James. We say Matich and not Matick, Ivanovich, Nemanya Vidich but you don't want to say Hames? Although I have heard Ivanovick and Vidick Edited December 3, 201411 yr by Stim
December 3, 201411 yr Stim, I agree but with Matic and Ivanovich we seemed to have universally agreed you pronounce the c at the end as if it has a h next to it, With Spanish names, The problem is we butcher them even when pronounced correctly so can't we all agree to pronounce them the way they are spelt? because in reality we will never pronounce them truly the way they are pronounced, I bet Aguero is pronounced Aah Gweroo in Spanish but we pronounce it nice and simply, Aguero, I've heard Spanish commentators pronounce Fabregas, Fab ray gas Lol
December 3, 201411 yr I'm probably expecting too much from them. As emphasised by the variations of bloody Hazard.
December 3, 201411 yr I'm probably expecting too much from them. As emphasised by the variations of bloody Hazard. I even confuse myself at times. During games I switch from calling him Eeeden to Eddan!!!
December 3, 201411 yr According to Wenger, Arsenal will win the Premier League within 3 years, Real statement of intent right there, Not this year not next year but 3 years. He's been saying that for like a decade. Tbh it rubs me the wrong way when Wenger and Arsenal fans say sh*t like that. Same with the if we signed a CB, a DMF etc we'd win the league. I always reply with "Are the other teams not going to strengthen then?". Really annoys me!
December 3, 201411 yr Not as bad as the commentators who say Ryan Bertrond. It's not even a foreign name. There is no O. Where do they get the O from?
December 3, 201411 yr Glenn Hoddle STILL calls Willian, Willum. And I agree Zeta, I think it's Jonathan Pearce thats pronounces Bertrand in French.
December 3, 201411 yr Glenn Hoddle STILL calls Willian, Willum. And I agree Zeta, I think it's Jonathan Pearce thats pronounces Bertrand in French. That is just lazy from Glenn Hoddle, Willian has been here long enough now, there is no reason to be pronouncing his name wrong.
December 3, 201411 yr I even confuse myself at times. During games I switch from calling him Eeeden to Eddan!!! Edam Hazard sounds like it could be a warning to anyone who is lactose intolerant.
December 3, 201411 yr On a slightly different note - which footballers names do you like? I always like to hear the commentary when Shrewsbury Town are playing because they have someone playing who's surname is Akpa-Akpro. They also have a player called Knight-Percival who I always think sounds like one of the knights of the round table. And Daniel Agger always made me think of Agadoo - did Liverpool have a song around this or is it just me?
December 3, 201411 yr Haha Beerqueen, I have to say I have a chuckle if David Goodwillie scores and his name pops up on Soccer Saturday, I always think to myself his surname must put a lot of pressure on him with the ladies.
December 3, 201411 yr I fancy a sunderland draw/ nick a late win. Stadium of light hasn't been kind to city and with kompany and mangala both out it hurts them even more.
December 3, 201411 yr I do hope you are right, a certain Sergio Aguero to me simply looks unstoppable though!
December 3, 201411 yr David Pleat is the worst. There are more names he can't pronounce in the PL than ones he can. He even seems to create whole new spellings for some of them.
December 3, 201411 yr I do hope you are right, a certain Sergio Aguero to me simply looks unstoppable though! He is a beast but even still I could see this as a 2-2
December 3, 201411 yr Every time I heard Peter Lovenkrands, I had to say Shabba. (in the Shabba Ranks style)
December 3, 201411 yr According to Wenger, Arsenal will win the Premier League within 3 years, Real statement of intent right there, Not this year not next year but 3 years.Pretty sure he said something similar a few years ago, that they would win the league within a couple of years. They're turning into Liverpool 'next year, next year, next year.....'
