Mata back to Chelsea

Featured Replies

Stupid Jose thinks useless Oscar is better.

What a nimrod eh, I'd understand if he'd had anything to prove that he even knows what he is doing, at least one champions league trophy would do it for me.

Would take him back in a heartbeat, but he has even less chance of playing now we have strengthed in the areas he plays. If he leaves Man utd he will just go back to Spain probably. Unless Arsenal come in for him again.

I think Mata would jump at the chance to play for them, mainly because it would mean getting to move back to London, which he loves. Nothing to do with Arsenal being any good or anything.

I don't want him back here, he wouldn't fit in to our system.

Nah don't need him anymore.

I think he's declined a lot I mean a lot since the arrival of Jose at Chelsea which was quite unimaginable for me I mean he's had a season of 20 goals and 35+ assists and the next season he's not even half the player he was. Well this was mainly due to our style of play and some good form of Oscar etc. But such a decline oh my.

I think he is still the same player, i just think he has lost his way. Joining United was a mistake for him, he wasn't going to be the player that fixed them.

He was sold because of his attitude, not his professional attitude, his attitude to the game itself, he wouldn't do the work Mourinho wanted him to do which is why he was benched despite being our best player at the time.

HIm being kicked out has it's benefits in my opinion, it shows no player is bigger than the club, everyone thought we where mad when we kicked out Juan Mata, if you ask me it will benefit us in the long term especially if players like Hazard think they can start slacking, think again. Having him rejoin wouldn't really enhance those benefits now would it, I think his Chelsea days are over sadly, but we also have to look on the bright side and accept that they should be over with good reason, this club.

"Never go back", isn't the hard and fast rule that some would have you believe. But in this case, it's bang on. Since moving to Old Trafford, Mata hasn't become a better fit for the way we play. I honestly don't see any benefit either to the club or to the player in bringing Mata back to the Bridge.

I am highly confident this rumour has nothing behind it. I was the biggest fan of Juan when he was with us, and was devastated when he left, but I soon realized once he had one I didn't really miss him, why? Because we have such a deep squad of superb players and we kept on winning, which showed selling Mata did not have a negative effect on our play hence was a good decision.

As for him declining, I don't think he has declined, he's 26, If you'd put him in the same setting in which he was at when he was with us, he'd perform the same, could we as a club provide that situation again? No, and I would be amazed if any Chelsea supporter wished we could.

After Drogba left I'd say Juan was our number 1 target man at times even ahead of Hazard, and the way he and Hazard combined was amazing to watch, but I wouldn't wish for him to return, going to Utd he knew he was moving into a setting that was not as fortunate as us, but he's a united fan, and I won't hold it against him, I just thank him for the time he spent with us and the great memories he left behind, I'll go as far as calling him a Cult Hero on a minuscule scale, because I don't know another Chelsea player in recent history that was loved and adored as much as he was.

Mata was my favourite Chelsea player and I really did think he was our best player, as did most of our fans. I would still have the guy back at Chelsea, however we would be a worse team for it.

He did do what Jose wanted him to do which was tracking back, he just wasn't very good at it.

I was mad at the time when we sold him but Jose was right, Mata just doesn't suit us. Mata has looked decent with United but nowhere as good as he did with us. It's sad because he seems like a nice guy but re-signing would kinda feel like a backward step for the development of the team in my eyes.

Wouldn't have him back. We are a much better team now then we ever were with Mata in it. Doesn't suit us.

I should probably examine my posts for hours before I post them, these little pick offs are really starting to become very consistent, perhaps I should stay up all night next time or stick to one sentence per post.

Since when has Mata been a United fan?

Interesting bit on the BBC Sport pages with various journos picking their United XI.

Every single one of them dropped Mata from the XI going with a front three of RvP, Rooney and Falcao.

Looks like just six months after his move Mata finds himself in the same situation he was in at Chelsea last year, a luxury player who doesn't fit into the system and ethics of the team. Crazy considering his talent.

Only second to Drogba, Mata is a favorite. But not only does he need to leave ManU, I think he fits better in another league.  He is far too lightweight to take the brutality of the premier league and it has shown as the time has passed since he arrived at Chelsea.  I will always miss his passion, though.

I don't think he is too lightweight for the Premier league. In the right system he is a brilliant player, he was great for us 2 seasons running. You couldn't have asked more from him in his first 2 seasons in the Premier league.

Id take mata back. I still think he's class and I think he could have been effective with Matic and fabregas behind him.

It's horses for courses. The better we get at retaining possession, the more we would benefit from having mata in the squad.

I think he will end up back at valencia though.

No offence, but silly thread...Jose didn't like mata's style, mata left cos he barely played...we have fabregas...we have moved On and so has he...just enjoy the memories of two plus years we got from him and the incredible deal we got with Utd...he won't go for that money again

The one position in Mourinho's front 4 that doesn't require quite as much tracking back is the CAM position, I still think Mata could do a great job there.

----------------Fabregas------------------Matic--------------------

---Shurrle---------------------Mata------------------------------Hazard

------------------------------------Costa

The two wing attackers need to track back a lot, because we use our fullbacks to attack, especially Ivanovic. The CF doesn't need to track back as such, but needs to close defenders down. The CAM position isn't as crucial, as you have 2 CMs behind you to cover and a CF in front of you closing down.

I would take Mata over Oscar in a heartbeat.

I love Juan and I miss him as well. he was one of my favourite player like a lot of people here. we just can't forget his contribution in both champion league and Europa league and I was not happy when we sold him :( I never understood why he never fitted in the team but I guess the special knows best. But I will take him back anytime I love the guy
