Are our rivals about to catch or overtake us?

Featured Replies

I think Man City definitely have the stronger squad. Yesterday, they won comfortably despite the absence of **Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic & Kompany**. And still their bench looks v. impressive, including Lamps.

Our first 11 match them, however, our depth is not as good IMHO.

However, so far this season it's been as good as it gets for us ... an incredible run ...

I think for City to win the title they HAVE to beat us at the Bridge at the end of January... with a semi-fit Aguero (at best) and possibly no yaya toure due to the ACON...can't see it myself, and they also have everton and arsenal coming up soon. by start of feb if we are behind then i think city will win it, but if we are ahead or level, then i strongly fancy us to win it.

Honestly I think City will win it, but i think it'll be very close up to the last 1 or 2 games.

You have absolutely no faith in this club. Shame really.

I really think we're gonna do it this season, we're just in that nitty gritty period where they may overtake us for a while.

You've put me in a great mood Bobby, if you're optimistic we must be looking good this season.

Whats this based on?. Them scoring more goals than us? oh wait... them conceding less than us? oh no umm them having to still play MUCH harder fixtures than us? or is it because Pellegrini is much superior to Mourinho?.

We're playing very well so far, but over 38 games I think they may just shade it. They're showing no signs of dropping any points at the moment, even with key players missing.

Don't see why my opinions seem to bother people on here so much, what I think makes no difference to you.

I just wanted to know, i was intrigued. When they had everyone fit they lost at home to Stoke and lost to West Ham away.

There's a difference between being realistic, and just being negative for no apparent reason.

As Jack said. Top of the league, more goals scored, less conceded, a better manager, a balanced team. We've played the majority of the big boys away and the usual culprits like Newcastle, Palace, Everton and Stoke who are prone to being a problem.

You seem to forget that we nearly won the league last season without a striker. I think it's about time you gave this team, the manager and the club some credit.

It just seems you like to be negative for no logical reason. It's an awful attitude to have. Instead of focusing on our 'negatives', look at our positives and you'll be able to see that we're in a fanf**kingtastic position for our first league title in 5 years.

Your opinions don't bother me, they intrigue me. How can someone think like that? I personally don't understand it.

EDIT - Also, did you watch the City highlights? West Brom could have had 3 goals on a different day. Quite easily too.

They might catch us but over the whole season I am quite confident. They're in a great run of form and don't look like dropping points, I actually said after the game we lost v Newcastle that I thought they could win their next 8. They're half way to that point and don't look like stumbling, although bad results can come when least expected. I think that despite not having any of their strikers they're actually in their best form of the season so it's important we don't let them catch us because they would have the confidence and momentum. Really the next team to drop points would be huge, if it them we can open up a nice gap and create some breathing room, if its us were level and a dip in form could see either side start to struggle to keep pace. The game at home will be vital and with Jose I feel like we can take all 3 points.

f**k me, even some of our supporters have got the city blinkers on. I would be concerned if they were playing sublime football, untroubled by teams and coming away with 3 or 4-0's every game, but truth is, they can slip up just as much as anyone. Right now we look extremely solid, and I would have thought that coming away with a win at stoke and a win against a very good west ham would put some confidence into our supporters.

Chelsea have already peaked, Cesc goes missing in big games and tough away fixtures as usual. His 2nd half is only going to get worse, bar assists from set pieces his overall contribution will slump. Man City? they are far from peaked, how many games have they won on the trot without Silva? now its 9 games win streak without Aguero? played Milner as a false 9 and still slapped 3 past a team. However the league could be lost the day Yaya goes to AFCON. Hopefully Lampard stays and does the business for them. How good would it be if FRANK LAMPARD cost you the league? unreal.

They may well catch us. Very possible. However, based on our first half of the season, I could easily see us overtaking them.

Wishful thinking on your part that he goes missing eh? At the moment there's no sign of it at all, and he has mentioned recently that he's playing some of his beet football ever, in a position he feels comfortable in. Fabregas isn't going anywhere.

Like when RVP got United the title? Like Clichy who has won a title with City? Like Fabregas is providing assists on a regular basis for us?

Silly Gooner. Know your place. Battling for fourth with the Scousers.

HAHAHAAHAHA love the way Chelsea fans somehow reverse everything the say about an Arsenal player when he joins your club, what happened to the years of laughing at us at how Cesc goes missing in big games but Lamps always showed up? there are no signs this season? bloke was absolutely invisible v Liverpool, City and Man Utd he had the worst passing success in midfield, Fellaini bossed him, tough away fixtures? Newcastle and Sunderland were was the bloke bar his usual set piece assists?

Very Mature of you to reply to my points with an image of the best 10 in the world. Just shows you got nothing to say.

I'm yet to see him pull an invisible act. He may have been man marked in specific games to which contribution is lower, but still offers something in the team. He also provided the assist for our 2nd goal against the so called 'Kings of London'. I may be wrong but also the corner for our goal against Liverpool. So you speak a load of sh*t quite honestly.

Ozil would have sh*t himself at Stoke and would have retreated to the wings the entire game.

Lampard is 36, and while it is unfortunate that he's playing for City, his goals shouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

He played well against you lot, I recall. Or does that not count as a 'big game' anymore because it's so easy for us nowadays?

You can play it down as much as you like, but Arsenal made a catastrophically embarrassing decision not going back for Fabregas.

Edit: Ozil best 10 in the world   cheeky little wind up merchant. Not even the second best 10 in London.

You're bitter that you don't have him.

Do you honestly believe that 'hold me back' Jack Wilshere is better than Fabregas? I believe Cesc has more assists this season than Jack has in his entire top flight career.
