April 30, 201610 yr you don't mind him leaving for free if he's unhappy, yet you miss Cech when he clearly stated that he wasn't happy Massive difference. Cech was unhappy because he got demoted due to Courtois demanding to be first choice. A club legend wasn't even allowed to compete for the spot. Of course he was unhappy. Courtois has publicly said that he's unhappy because he'll miss out on Champions League football for one season and didn't win a trophy this year and implied that he's considering leaving because of that, never mind that he hasn't been at his best form and has contributed to the fact that we've had a poor season. I doubt Cech would have wanted to leave under the same circumstances.
April 30, 201610 yr If he goes I'd like to see us try and get Butland. Or hell, maybe just bring Cech back for a year or 2, get some exerpience and leadership back into the side. I don't think Stoke would tolerate losing both their goalkeepers to us. Would love for Cech to return for a year or two. It'll bring stability (ironic for a change to actually make things more stable) and provide guidance to a dressing room without JT. I don't get the feeling that Cech is particularly happy at Arsenal. I think his heart is still with us. There was a whispering that Pep Guardiola wants to replace Joe Hart. I don't really see it happening, but if the opportunity were there, what would you think about that?
April 30, 201610 yr If he wants to leave and we get a massive fee then it probably makes sense. Make no mistake though, this would be the first time under Roman Abramovich that this club has sold a player who would be part of the first team and has the potential to be the best in the world. Robben might be comparable but he was very much in and out of the team and suffering from injury niggles in his last season, so it wasn't such a massive loss (at the time). We don't have enough players with the potential to be the best in the world that we can just cash-in but this is where the club probably is at the moment. If I was an outsider I'd suggest Roman's short-termist view was finally coming home to roost. If his heart is elsewhere, then it doesn't matter so much how much potential be has. We don't want someone who has a poor attitude in the dressing room or who makes sour whiney comments to the press during a crucial time for the club. First time what? You overrate him there! And if this persistent reports about Courtois not being happy here is true then i dont mind him leaving for FREE. And i wont miss him. I still miss Cech though! Free?! A player should never be allowed to go for free just because they're unhappy. Sends an awful message to players that if they're unhappy and want to leave, they can stop trying to play well enough to boost their transfer value.
April 30, 201610 yr Getting Joe Hart would be a foolish decision. There is a reason guardiola wants to replace him. I think if we get 50m+ for Courtois we can get Butland in the region of 30-35m. That said Forster for much less of Navas for even lesser would be the best options. Navas has been just insane this season. Regardless of who we get, we need to act fast as city and dippers will be both in market for top keepers. Edited April 30, 201610 yr by Orpington_Blue
April 30, 201610 yr Joe Hart is a superb goalkeeper, I don't know where the idea that he isn't came from.
April 30, 201610 yr Supposedly Conte has agreed to sell IF we get an offer of £150M+ ... Its 50m+ not 150. Really? nobody thought 150 was a little ridiculous? Edited April 30, 201610 yr by TheChelseaBlues
April 30, 201610 yr Joe Hart is a superb goalkeeper, I don't know where the idea that he isn't came from. Those bleddy Head and Shoulders adverts probably.
April 30, 201610 yr Those bleddy Head and Shoulders adverts probably. It's not like he's the first goalkeeper with experience of embarrassing adverts:
April 30, 201610 yr ^ Ha, god that was dreadful! I rate Joe Hart too, deservedly England's no 1. I'm still conflicted about Courtois though. He's good, but...
April 30, 201610 yr First time what? You overrate him there! And if this persistent reports about Courtois not being happy here is true then i dont mind him leaving for FREE. And i wont miss him. I still miss Cech though! You would let one of the best young keepers in world football leave for free? What tripe
April 30, 201610 yr he is right. Courtois is in fact our starting GK. i'm not sure whether he would be the first, but i don't think we have let player that's a regular slip through our fingers. KDB Lukaku Mata etc wasn't starting at the time they were sold. if he goes, it would be a massive loss. and you can't deny that he has the potential to be the best in the world and i think you're being a little biased there. you don't mind him leaving for free if he's unhappy, yet you miss Cech when he clearly stated that he wasn't happy Cech obviously can't be happy being on the bench Courtois because Cech knows at that moment he could still offer more than Courtois. I think that is reasonable. But Courtois not been happy because the Belgian team has a better squad than us or because we are not competing in the Champions League next season, if you ask me, I will say that is lack of commitment and I won't like any of our player to have that sort of character. So I don't mind Coutois leaving for free if he is not happy here.
April 30, 201610 yr Joe Hart is a superb goalkeeper, I don't know where the idea that he isn't came from.I don't rate him but this season he has proved he his a top keeper.
April 30, 201610 yr Not sure if those who claim joe hart to be better than Begovic are dumb or sarcastic.
April 30, 201610 yr Not sure if those who claim joe hart to be better than Begovic are dumb or sarcastic. You could make a mistake reel for any player, even Neuer has made a few high-profile ones this season. I'd have Hart above Cech (this season only) and behind only De Gea & Lloris.
April 30, 201610 yr £50 mil? Let's bin him asap, bad attitude and on this seasons form be lucky to be in top 10 prem keepers this season, de gea, loris, butland, Forster, hart, schmiecal, and even andrian and gomes might have a shout above him. Czech did great saves at important times in big games, find it hard to remember courtois doing likewise. Butland or forster for me
April 30, 201610 yr It's not like he's the first goalkeeper with experience of embarrassing adverts: OMG! I didn't know whether to laugh or cringe.
April 30, 201610 yr Still reckon we should have kept Cech and flogged Courtois... I think the idea was to have someone in position for the future. Can't foresee players dip in form or attitude.
April 30, 201610 yr It would be a massive mistake to let him go. We should do what United did with De Gea and keep Courtois at all cost.

Care to find and post these reels of Neuer or Cech or De Gea. Again, there is a reason guardiola is looking to get rid of hart and Butland is begining to upstage him for the NT. He is not that good. I would give you that he has had 3-5 great games this season.

April 30, 201610 yr The complete irrelevance of Youtube compilations as a form of evidence for a player's quality (or lack of) aside, it's probably worth pointing out that Butland's international experience so far consists of three 45-minute stints in friendlies, and one start in a dead rubber qualification match against Lithuania. In addition, I am yet to see any substantive evidence that Guardiola is actually weighing up Hart's position in the Man City side. Admittedly Hart isn't exactly tailor-made for the kind of possession football Guardiola wants his sides to play, but he is a good all-rounder (i.e. he has no glaring weaknesses). The Premier League is hardly rife with goalkeepers who excel with the ball at their feet; really the only player in the league who is exceptional in this regard is Hugo Lloris.
April 30, 201610 yr It would be a massive mistake to let him go. We should do what United did with De Gea and keep Courtois at all cost. Remember Degea wanted to stay and prove himself unlike Courtois.
