The best solution I can think of, given where we are now, would be Keylor Navas coming the other way. 

He would presumably want to keep playing, and aged 31 could buy us a window of 2-3 seasons to find a more long term replacement. 

Bulka looks a promising talent, but quite frankly I think it's madness for people to be suggesting he should slide into our starting 11 after an impressive cameo in a pre-season friendly. We could learn a lot more about him in the 2-3 seasons where Navas was first choice.

That is exactly my feeling. Keep Courtois and make Bulka our second. Try Bulka in the Cups and EL first round, and if he delivers we can then play him in the PL. I think that this way we can test how good he will become and provide good development for him.

More then ever after the World Cup.

At this stage we are going to be very short of options if we plan to replace him in this window. Once again seems like very poor management of the situation by the club. We either let him go now, and try to rush in a replacement like Butland by Thursday, or we keep him another season and let him leave a on a free.

The board need to focus entirely on finding a replacement for Courtois this week. Not worry about selling him this week, they can sell him after Thursday... 

I can't wait to see him leave.. He doesn't want to be at Chelsea, and to be honest: we could do a lot worse than Thibaut Courtois! He was one of the biggest talents of his generation, but he never lived up to his talent in my opinion. Looking back, I think we should have sold him to Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid in the summer of 2015. Petr Cech, a club legend, was replaced by this ungrateful man and that was a mistake looking back on it.. 

 

 

I really don't get the animosity towards Tibo. First of all he is still a young man (young men seldom say the right things). Second he is one of the best keepers in the world. Top 10 anyway. We absolutely want to keep our best players and to be fair it is really hard to replace him. 

Tibo is not the type who says lovely things about our club. I really don't care as long as he performs. He works for Chelsea. I don't have rosy things to say about my employer and yet I am grateful they want to pay me a salary and let me work there. 

I feel players like Drinkwater, Bakayoko or maybe even Bats are much worse wearing our shirt than Tibo who can actually make a difference for us. People are too sensitive. 

I think if he wants to go to Madrid to his daughter we should grant that wish. I can only imagine what the distance is doing to him. Sarri was pretty clear on this as well. 

We have treated him well and he has treated us well as well. I have no grudge towards him. Why should I? 

A - He leaves, the club bring in no replacement, Big Willy in goal then.

B - He leaves, the club spend 60 mill plus on a suitable replacement by Thursday.

Which one shall it be then ?

This is at the heart of why I have a problem with him.  Just bring his damn family to the UK.  How much does he earn every week?  He could fly them back and forth on private jets if he wanted.  He's a very very highly paid professional footballer - so his career won't be long, but it will be lucrative.  So he has to make a sacrifice - big deal.  Seriously, he's just whining.

Of those 2 options I think A is most likely. We don't look like signing anybody for 60m let alone a keeper.

I think if he leaves we will end up with a Zappacosta of goalkeepers. Some lad who played under Sarri in Empoli or something like that.

If Courtois does leave without a replacement we might see Rob Green in goal at some point  Gulp!

Problem with bringing in any keeper is that it has to happen by end of day Thursday. Courtois may end up leaving later in August.

We already have that in Caballero IMO obviously he hasn't played under Sarri before

He's split from the mother and she has custody.

No he won't. If we can't find a replacement before Thursday we stick with him. There is no way he leaves after the window is shut. We won't let him.

True. But Caballero was brought in as a second keeper. I don't think many saw him playing regularly, certainly not as our number 1.

I would rather take a chance on Bulka than play Caballero as our N1.

How about he waited until the last few days of the transfer window before letting the club know he wants to leave? Knowing full well he's got only a year left on his contract. He treated us well? Like hell he did.

I remember Ronaldo at MU desperately wanting to leave for Real and Fergie denying him the move. But a year later he got his wish. It turned out later that he got verbal agreement with United that he'll be allowed to leave the following summer and they've got at the time the world record transfer fee from Madrid because his contract situation put them in a strong negotiating position. That's what I call treating your club well.

We sent Cech to the bench to make way for Courtois and eventually sold Big Pete to Arse. We treated Tibo very well all these years. He's just repaid with sh*t.

Because the Courtois we've seen during the World Cup or at Atletico Madrid has never shown up at Chelsea. His heart doesn't seem to be in it and he plays like it. Courtois did okay, but I feel that he never really lived up to his potential. Just look at away game at Barcelona last season (this is just one example, I know, but it's the first one that comes to mind). Chelsea were better at home, they had a lot of chances and were unlucky to not win that game by atleast 2 goals.. Chelsea went out because of Courtois' errors! The rest of the team never stood a chance after he let that ball in in the third minute!

 

The reason we won the title in '16-'17 wasn't Courtois. The great defensive unit in front of him did all the work and he still made some pretty major mistakes.. I think everything we've won since he became the first GK is more inspite of Courtois than thanks to Courtois!
