Raheem Sterling to Chelsea

You'd be paying for potential because he's nowhere near the finished article and he needs developing. As it is he's a good player who can disappear in games, but has flashes of looking unstoppable. I don't know who the City manager is going to be so it's hard to say what happens if he goes there, but I'm not sure he's the right type of player for Jose. His best bet probably is to stay at Liverpool for a season or two and that's what I reckon he'll do.

Heard his interview tonight...what a little gobsh*te...done fcuk all in the game and giving it the big un where he thinks he should be playing blah blah blah...ego bigger than his ability...never heard hazard talking like this and he's a much better player

I reckon he might end up playing on the right for City next season, as just like us they need to up their homegrown quota. Irony is we are in the same position with City; quota wise & we need some quality on the RW, calls into question the Cuadrado signing which looks like it might hinder us in making some upgrade this summer. There are rumours his mum wants him to move to London (the Arsenal reference in the interview), personally I would have him here as he is an upgrade on both Cuadrado & Willian + huge upside potential wise. Does he track back though?

i'm not all that fussed on Sterling, reminds me too much of Wright-Phillips

Has more to his game than Wright-Phillips, those stats show he is very close to Hazard and a slight upgrade on Oscar. I reckon with the right development he could be as good as Bale.

Am I the only one who really rates him, considering how good he is for his age? Yes, he isn't the most physical but neither is Hazard and he's still added a lot to his defensive workrate this year. For anything below £30m i'd be heavily tempted to go for him, definitely over Douglas Costa and Walcott.

It would p!ss off the liverpool fans to no end should we sign him up for under 30M, or better on a free in 2 years time. He has something to offer, and a home grown also helps. The problem is we just spent 60M to get Willian and Curaddo ( who hasn't got a sniff playing yet), how the hell are we going to fit in another starting player?

Errrr.... So Sterling has a bit more foil / wrapper that hasn't been peeled on his chocolate than Hazard has on his.

This talk always takes me back to Super Frank. You can have all of the talent in the world, but you've got to have that something that pushes you on another level in training every day if you ever want to be one of the best players in the world. Sterling has the talent.

Why do people think hazard is t physical, he is extremely strong for his size, low gravity, legs like tree trunks and more importantly he knows how do get his body between the ball and defenders and how to shield the ball, that's why he draws so many fouls, you literally can't take the ball off him that's the best part of his game with the ability to stop and start so quickly..I don't put sterling anywhere near hazard, I think he will peak very early..like someone said he is pretty much a high end wright Phillips

Don't see Sterling as a Mourinho type player so really cam't see us signing him.

Can see him ending up at Arsenal with them letting Walcott go. That will make Arsenal stronger next season.

You'll never go wrong slagging off Liverpool players (or even players of a certain ilk) but I don't quite get the same feeling listening to his 27 minute long interview.

He's being offered £100k p/w yet seems to be focussed on winning trophies - isn't that what people want in a sportsman? He says team comes first when asked about his position, bigs up both his managers and seems to have a genuine affection for the game. Why shouldn't he take a long-term view of his career whilst also working on his game everyday?

Like I said, listening to the interview I can't find many reasons to call him a gobsh*te or that he's giving it the big-un.

When you see how fast some of the animals at his own club have turned on him you can understand why he might feel the need to set the record straight. Ultimately I think he wants to win stuff, and you have to question whether he can do that there so why wouldn't he?

Sterling now lives in the same town as me in southport, I know a few people that have met him, and by all accounts he's a pretty grounded lad. I think we can be too quick to judge people based off media reports, we should perhaps know better than most, that the person portrayed in the press, can be very different to the person in real life.

I don't really have to much of a problem with him putting his hand up and saying he is feeling fatigued, foreign players have done it for years, and maybe if the likes of Michael Owen had took more care of themselves we might have won a major trophy in the last 50 years.

Brenda rodgers has shot himself in the foot by claiming sterling is the best young player in the world. It's just given his agent a reason to demand parity with the likes of Hazard, and neymar.

I would be pretty happy if he ended up here, I think he could force his way into the side ahead of willian, or oscar. It would be a gamble as he still is young with unforfilled potential, but all signings come with some risk.

Is he a Mourinho player? I think he could be if he bought into the philosophy, I could see him struggling to meet mourinho's demands in the beginning, but I think he would come out it a world class player.

I think if koke is available though, then he should be the priority to improve midfield.

Certainly looks like a potential Arsenal signing.

That will of course add to them and the pace they would have with Sanchez, Welbeck and Sterling is pretty lethal (Would be the same with Walcott too though).

Cashing in on one former wonderkid who’s game is PACE but has been ravaged by injury to sign a younger version minus the owrry of injuries is certainly good business I suppose.

Like others I can’t see Jose being able to give Sterling the time to develop and he will want first team football…more chance of that at Arsenal.

I personally think he will go on to be a fantastic player.

His own biggest critic, Sterling admits that he's working harder and harder to improve his all-round game, and there's one particular side of his game that he's really working on this season.

"I feel my own form has been a bit stop-start," he said. "For a young player I suppose that’s natural, but if I want to get my game to the next level then I need to be consistent week in, week out.

"If I am not scoring, I need to be assisting a goal or having a strong effect on the game. That is something I am working on.

"I am very critical of myself and always look at what I can improve on. At this moment in time that’s my finishing – no-one else has to tell me.

Sterling has gone as far as to stay behind in training, practicing shooting by himself so that he can apply the finishing touches in games for real.

"I get five balls on my left side and five on my right side. On my right I score three or four, on my left two or one.

"So any chance I get I am looking to improve.

Having just watched that interview, I get the impression he wants to be at a club capable of challenging for the big trophies every year. I don't think he would go to arsenal. I can see him going to city to be honest, although I think if we went after him then we would come here aswell.

Who can blame him really, would you rather Gerrard's trophy collection, or jt's!

So what was that line about if the contract on offer had been there last season he would have signed it?

Is he effectively saying he feels that because Liverpool aren't challenging for the title this year he doesn't want to commit his future to them right now?

If so what changes in the summer? Is he waiting to assess their ambition and see who they sign to replace Gerrard and maybe other areas of the team? Could maybe see him running his contract down in to the final year at this point, I think Liverpool will be reluctant to sell in truth regardless of the money on offer.

I don't think he wants to commit unless liverpool can show their ambition in the transfer market. After coming so close last year, they sold their best player and missed out on their main target in sanchez.

He won't be guaranteed a start at any of the top 4 clubs though, he will be with Liverpool.

I can see why their fans are turning on him, he comes across as quite selfish and ungrateful IMO.

Would he rather be a bit part player challenging for trophies or be a first on the teamsheet player for a club who usually are up and around the top 4 in the past few seasons? He's only 20 so he could still move in a year or two and be a far better player than he is now.

He probably just has faith in his own abilities and doesn't think he would be a bit part player and in truth considering the fee he would command I doubt he would be anything but a regular for whoever bought him.

At Chelsea for example he'd walk into the starting XI ahead of Willian and Cuadrado. He's got better end product than Navas at City.

He's not the end product by any means but he's a very good player.
