Player of the season so far

Featured Replies

He is the best attacking defender in the league and lately very stable in our half. I find votes  normal.

Very stable? He's nodded off and let men go on more than a few occasions. His distribution has been poor too. You've based your vote on him chipping in with a few vital goals. Fine but he needs to excel at what he is paid to do - defend - to be considered in this convo.

I noticed you left JT off your list, ours and the premier leagues best centre half this year. Each to their own I guess.

Agree with Spiller and Scott, can't give it to Matic as he's had some poor games. Fabregas and Hazard have been more consistent so it would be between them for me, probably Fabregas if I had to pick.

Clyne, this season, has been better.

Fabregas has had some of the best moments this season out of any player definitely, he has produced some fantastic stuff, however he has definitely had more off days than Matic.

That was at the beginning of the season. Right now, he doesn't do that. Ok, doesn't do it a lot. But there is a reason for this - he is a central defender and he has the habits of central defender. Furthermore, he tries to help Cahill. Watching Garry this season, I would help him, too.    :laugh2:  Ivanovic is brilliant. Except Garry, everybody's brilliant. I wouldn't underestimate nobody, so I finished this debate.

I'm voting with my heart, which starts pumping faster as soon as he gets the ball, how must the poor defenders that face him feel?? they have nightmares about him, waking in the night with a cold sweat on their brow, clutching at the pillow and screaming NOOOOOOOOO !!!!

1. EDEN HAZARD

2. Diego Costa

3. Cesc Fabergas

1) Hazard: 88% pass completion and the best dribbler in the world. He creates alot of space for his teammates and creates problems in the most compact oposition defences. Decent goals and assist ratio as well.

2) Fabregas + Matic: I choose both of them since they work so well togheter. Without Matic our defence becomes exposed and without Fabregas we loose most of our build up play.

3) Costa: The perfect all round striker for our team.

Honestly I can only recall 1 game where I thought Fabregas was awful  and another 2 where he wasn't at his best but still contributed to the game regardless.

Matic had about 5 games (the games where he was playing with Mikel sticks out), a couple in a row, where he was just poor.

Of course, this is all from memory so I could be missed stuff out.

Matic, Cahill and Ivanovic were absolute pants against Spuds, for that reason alone they would not make my top 3, unless they retrieve the situation in the cup final, WE HATE TOTTENHAM......but not spudulike.

Matic has been very good, although around that Christmas period his form really dipped. I'm pretty sure tiredness had a lot to do with it, and sometimes you could argue he's left with too much to do on his own.

Hazard, then...

Matic, Fabregas, Costa, JT, Azpi all in the mix

Matic deserves it, but Costa, Fabregas, or Hazard will likely win it. I can't really argue with any of them, but Matic has been a rock.

It really goes to show how far we've come since Jose returned to the club. Just before his re-emergence it was always either Mata or Hazard who would be the main contenders for player of the season so to see the likes of Matic, Fabregas, Costa, Hazard and Terry in the frame goes to show how much this side has improved under him and how it isn't clear who may be player of the season for the club.

For what it's worth I think Matic has been player of the season. When he's out of the side or isn't playing well which is rare then it's very noticeable. He's the rock of the midfield.

Costa has been an outstanding striker and provided us with a real attacking option that hasn't been seen since the days of Didier Drogba when he was peaking.

Fabregas has been the general of the midfield and another outstanding addition of the side. Need I say more about Hazard! He's just brilliant and how good has JT been in the defence (he's been in the best form I've seen him in years).

Is anyone still of the opinion that Hazard shouldn't be our player of the year? Apart from his performances, the thing I find incredible is that he has played the second most minutes this season out of all our players (only 35 minutes behind JT) and he's usually never the one who gets rested when we have wrapped up a match early. This is is despite the fact that he is among the most fouled players in Europe. Incredible player!

Hazard, without a shadow of a doubt. Our best player, the league's best player, hopefully soon the world's best player. Simply put, we wouldn't be top of the league without him, a true phenomenon and an absolute joy to behold on the pitch. In years to come we will be telling our kids that we saw this man in a blue shirt.

It has to be Hazard...Fabregas and Costa have both dropped off too much. Hazard has been more consistent. Matic and Terry run him closest.

What a brilliant post  ::clap2::  ::clap2::  ::clap2::

Because of Matic having his little blip a couple of weeks ago Fabregas has gone slightly ahead for me.

Right now my choices are.

1 ) Fabregas

2 ) Matic

3 ) Hazard

Well, mine has changed a bit now.

1 ) Hazard

2 ) Terry

3 ) Matic
