To those saying we are miles away from being a top team in Europe, we absolutely are not.

 

This is just one of those nights where the manager got the tactics wrong, simple. It was a horrific night from start to finish, and the way they played in the second half was absolutely repulsive, so much money spent on attacking talent who want to play good attacking football and then they're told to walk around and pass the ball to the centre-halfs. Of course you need that defensive side to the game, but you DO NOT play cautiously, at home, in the champions league against 10 men. I love the man as much as all of you but tonight and against Atletico Madrid last year he has royally screwed up. It doesn't happen often but when it does it's pretty foul to watch.

 

Credit to the fans, absolutely brilliant they were.

Well, there's a few things to say about that. Firstly, over the two legs we thoroughly deserved to go out, I don't think anyone could say any different. We've not been playing well for some time, but managed to get the results. Tonight it caught up with us. Secondly, we really do not test the keeper enough. It's gotten to ridiculous levels of sideways passing in and around the box. Look at our shots on target recently, and it's just nowhere near an acceptable level. Finally, while its the champions league and anything can happen (2012), even if we had gone through tonight, we were never going to win the thing. We're not in the same class as Bayern, Barca and Real (despite their scare last night).

It can still be a great season, if we win the league; which I believe we will do, but we must start playing better.

Bitterly, bitterly disappointing and to top it off, of all the luck, I sit next to a PSG fan at work. Tomorrow is going to be a long day...

Bayern beat 10 man Shaktar 7-0; we absolutely need to shake the complacency that sets in when we get in front. For 2 whole seasons we've failed to show any desire to go for the jugular and take a team apart. We don't appear to be able to play with any tempo for a whole 90 minutes. We give it in 10 minute spells and then just drop off.

 

Jose has to be to blame for this although I think the character of the Brazilians doesn't help. We've too many guys who are out there trying to just do enough and no more. Our midfield needs another overhaul, it still lacks quality and energy.

It's not a distraction. We are Chelsea, we have the squad and resources to be competing in this and the league at the same time.

I actually think we play better when we have a lot of fixtures in a small amount of time. We usd to thrive on that!

So much faffing around on the edge of the box, I am f**king sick of it, it never gets us anywhere. We so miss a Lampard type player to just take on a f**king shot once in a while.

Azpilicueta - 7/10 - Mostly defended well, got forward a lot

Terry - 6/10 - Average

Cahill - 6/10 - Average

Ivanovic - 5/10 - Meh

Matic - 6/10 - Poor by his standards

Ramires - 3/10 - Shadow of his former self. Just a passenger mostly.

Fabregas - 6/10 - Tried, but not a lot of movement ahead of him

Hazard - 7.5/10 - Only dangerous player

Oscar - 3/10 - Piss poor AGAIN

Costa - 1/10 - Sorry but he's been sh*te for weeks now. Give him a chance with space in the box and he'll score, but ask him to do any kind of link-up play and it's awful, loses the ball every time. He just spends all game trying to get sent off.

 

Willian - 5/10 - Better than Oscar, but still offered very little

Drogba - 6/10 - Should have come on earlier

Zouma - 6.5/10 - Actually showed some desire to chase them down

 

 

 

Overall, awful. Couldn't create any chances, because as per every f**king game we get to the edge of the box and then pass pass pass pass pass pass lose the ball, and defended really poorly. And don't even get me started on how half the team were strolling around in that 2nd half. Just shocking.

Can't argue with that. This was our worst game of the season and the culmination of a long series of average games since we won away at Swansea. We really don't deserve to be through after that performance.

 

I'm not really that mad - they we were better than us and did themselves proud. We have no excude if we don't win the league now.

 

Ugly games and PSG have fallen a lot in my estimation. In particular, David Luiz and (I am asorry to say this) Diego Costa.

 

This was our worst? We lost at Newcastle and basically turned up and did nothing for 90 mins ffs! At least this was against a good team. 

Jose up to some blame but at the same time if we'd pressed on higher Cavani and Lavezzi would have ripped JT on the counter as Monaco did to Mertesacker last week, when we have a 34 year old in defence we need to play deeper to accommodate him and against 10 men this favoured PSG.

Also no idea where he went for Silva's 2 headers.

Been saying all season, TBO is to aggressive for. Set pieces, when it comes of its great, but when it doesn't he's caught in no mans land.. Put me on the posts if your going to go for it like that

Have to say, Luiz was phenomenal. What passion, desire and presence. He did play a little dirty, but no leg breakers and that's the only complete nono IMO in football (and diving to get people sent off).

I remember 09-10 when we went out to Inter and although I am against sacrifice one competition for another but I think the league title is more important for us this season as it was then.

Well deserved win for the PSG players. We laughed at Arsenal getting d*cked by Monaco for complacency. Now we did it ourselves. It was horrible to see players strolling about. It's one of two things:

1) the players thought it was already our game after the red card

2) Or Jose has worn them out. I can recall seeing Matic huffing and puffing not even 3/4 through of the game.

If it's the latter then that is poor management. Tbf PSG are getting a 180k bonus each for beating us.

I think some Uefa no name called our gamed vs Liverpool 'sh*t on a stick'. Give them tonight's video. THAT was pure merde all over the shop. I watched the first 90 minutes in my local- and you know what, for the first time in 22 years of supporting chelsea I couldn't actually be f**ked to watch the turgid extra time. I had bed and work to get ready for- I knew that even if we scored we'd instantly revert back to defence, and so it turned out as I listened to the radio. 90 minites against ten men? Did we put them under any pressure at all? May be a blessing in disguise in terms of the league, but we are so frustratingly reactive since Christmas. Ffs grow some balls!

Time to focus on PL. We were very poor and the only one to blame is Jose in my opinion. We didn't play our football and we didn't use our attacking skills. When we have Costa, Drogba, Hazard and Willian and Fabregas behind we must to shoot, cross, play from the wings and not play through the central like we did whole game.

Zouma had to come on for Matic, he was injured, it not a tactical sub so don't get why some are moaning at that sub.
