Eva Carneiro

Featured Replies

The situation regarding Eva Carneiro is less about outright sexism and more the fact that, internally at Chelsea, she had taken a side away from the club and, most importantly, against manager Jose Mourinho.

She did that by posting a message of thanks on her “Facebook” page to the people who had “supported her” after she and physio Jon Fearn entered the field to treat Eden Hazard.

I have it on excellent authority that it was the Facebook post that ultimately did it for Carneiro in the eyes of Mourinho.

Well I've always though that was the case. In my field of work we get enforced blackouts on social media, I can't imagine a football club would be any different.

Press monitor social media of people of interest for anything they can turn into a story. I imagine Eva and the forgotten gentleman will have been given a black out period. If you go against your employer you become subject to disciplinary action and that's what seems to have happened here.

I could of course be wrong but that's always seem the logical course of events for me.

I don't think there has ever been a thread posted on here before, or the old CSR, that I have felt as completely irrelevant to my support of Chelsea.

Eva who?

Not sure that stacks up.

He comes up with a theory to explain why the physio is still at the club and Eva isn't, i.e. he didn't post on Facebook, but the truth is they've both been treated exactly the same, it was Eva who chose to stay away.

She was a bloody doctor, the media hype is extreme. She left all done and dusted now since Chelsea has made her a celebrity doctor.Probably won't look long to find a new job though.

I'm almost certain she will now do the celebrity rounds, big brother, dancing on ice, that sh*tty show with squawking hormonal woman hating everything etc.

I'd prefer the shows with little or no clothing  ::MooNeY::

There's a new one already and he's been on the bench since Eva hasn't. We have a medical team. She was on the bench didn't mean she was the one and all.

For me it's not if I care that Eva isn't on the bench or if I feel she was or wasn't treated differently because she's a woman, it has no bearing on my support for the team or the club or even the manager who in my opinion in this instance was wrong.

The shame for me is that Jose didn't find it in himself to recognise that after the ref called the medics on, they had to go on, the train of thought that says the ref beckoned them on twice so again blame can be laid at the medics could be countered with they thought the same as Jose and that Eden was fine so wanted to let him get up and play on but on the second signal had little choice.

I'm sure that other ongoing things had led Jose to react and use this as the last straw but to me the other reasons if they existed should have been dealt with behind closed doors and not involve an over reaction to something in which both people involved were doing their job exactly the way they should.

Too much already on this and although it likely isn't over, it's really old news and will have us as fans on different sides of the fence on rights and wrongs, at the end of the day I am sory it happened, was happy to be leading the way with a good female Doctor and didn't agree with the way the Manager acted, I still believe he's the best man for the Job and will be supporting him and the team as usual.

Hope Eva gets another high profile well paid Job, doubt we'll be seing her on Celebrity shows like some have envisaged but if we do I might go against my better judgement and actually watch some of the crap.

Well said, Chippy!  I have also found myself considering the hypothesis (and this is only a hypothesis , not an accusation) that maybe Jon Stearns didn't make a fuis. because he lacked Eva's courage.

I think she may struggle to find alternative work, depending upon what comes out she may be viewed as trouble.

She is a Doctor - maybe she will find a job healing the sick!  And still be paid a lot more than you or I ever earned, twin!

I'd like to think so Moi, but time will tell.

Anyone ever considered the possibility she was a distraction to the players or maybe even had a relationship with a player. The mistake she made was the perfect excuse Jose needed to get her out?

I have never heard anything to this extent. However I think it is more common knowledge that Jose had some disagreements with the medical staff last season over the handling of Costa's injuries. So that may have been a catalyst.

Certainly I think the Facebook post did her no favours. In any job you can find yourself in trouble if you use social media to make remarks that bring your employers into question. Even after that it sounds like the club were willing to try and sort things out but it was probably too late.

I think one or two players may have thought more of her than Jose?

Perhaps having her on the touch line was motivating for some, esp. if u are trying to impress?

Having an attractive female in a male only environment can obviously be a distraction. This is 100% human nature ...

This may well have been a contributing factor to her demise? Who knows? ... we will never know ...

If they had Susan Boyle on the sidelines maybe the players would be quicker to jump to their feet again if they saw her running over.

Apparently Jose has been cleared by the FA

They are "satisfied that the words used do not constitute discriminatory language under FA Rules"

Or in other words... If they punished Jose now, they'd have to punish players and managers in half the matches every round and they don't want to do that.
