April 20, 201511 yr Well considering the injuries our first choice 2 strikers have had you would think Bamford would have plenty of game time if he did join the 1st team next season. Costa by the looks of it will never be able to play 2 games a week unless there is a miracle cure for his hamstring problems. Remy might just have been unlucky this season getting injured at the same times as Costa, although I'm not sure if that's the only reason. Drogba has played more than I'd have liked and it's shown because the legend legs are now gone. Coaching role for Drogs please. Of course Remy might choose to move on next season you never know, so much can happen but we really need to take a chance on our players or we will never unearth the next JT. Spuds have done it, we should be able to.
April 20, 201511 yr We should not send him on loan to just any random club in PL next season. IF boro make it to the PL then fine, makes sense for him to go there as a regular starter. If boro are not in PL and he gets sent to a random team that he has no understanding with, his minutes will not be guaranteed. In such a case Chelsea are better of managing his progression in house even as the third striker. I have full confidence that he can beat Remy to become 2nd choice in about half a season.
April 21, 201511 yr Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the championship season end a few games short of the EPL season? if this is the case, bamford will be back at Chelsea before our season is over? It would be nice for him to get a chance once we've sewn the title up.

Championship play off final is on May the 25th and if Boro play in the final, surely Bamford will be there as well (as long as he's not injured).

Mentioned they'd be a great fit for him a page or two back. Settled, good English core and happy to give young players a chance, I think they'd be a good fit stylistically as well. Would enable us to loan someone else to Boro as well, possibly Kalas for another season or maybe even someone like Baker.
April 26, 201511 yr So Bamford won player of the year in the Championship, but didn't make the Championship team of the year.......... Work that one out.
April 26, 201511 yr So Bamford won player of the year in the Championship, but didn't make the Championship team of the year.......... Work that one out. What? Honestly?
April 26, 201511 yr So Bamford won player of the year in the Championship, but didn't make the Championship team of the year.......... Work that one out. That makes no sense. It just shows how stupid these things can be. Aguero is probably going to finish top goalscorer and he isn't up for player of the year or in the team of the year. Coutinho is up for player of the year and is in the team of the year even though there have been so many midfielders who have had a far better season than he has had. His own team mate, Henderson has arguably had a better season than him.
April 28, 201511 yr So now he's got the playoffs and there's no guarantee of them going up. I never have the best feeling about a 3rd place team who missed out on automatic promotion coming through that process. Either way, I think he needs to definitely go out on loan to a Premier League team because I'm starting to think that Solanke not just has more potential, but also fits our system better. He's much closer to a Costa-type, he's more solid than Bamford yet he's three years younger. In fact if you had to choose which two of Abraham, Solanke and Bamford best fit our system then it would probably be the first two, and they would both count as club-trained. Obviously it's a long way to go and Bamford has the first-team experience but I think I'd be comfortable with him spending another season on-loan and using Solanke and possibly even Drogba as our third-choice strikers. April 28, 201511 yr Been talk of him joining either Southampton or Aston Villa next season. I think I'd prefer to see him at Southampton as they play the better football and it would possibly a better learning curve playing in a team looking to play their way through the opposition.
April 28, 201511 yr Benteke and Bamford Pele and Bamford I'd prefer to see him at Southampton as well, they improve a lot of players and they also need good young strikers.
April 28, 201511 yr Bamford has the added ability to play on either wing as well, something that Jose likes, as he rarely plays 2 up front, often putting Remy on the wing when he's brought him on alongside Costa this season.

On Abraham, I'm not massively sold on him. I know he's scored 39 goals at youth level but watching him he doesn't seem to pick up on really simple stuff at times. I have big doubts about him that I don't have with Solanke.
April 28, 201511 yr I understandthe reasons for loans to the EPL sides, but i sometimes think a loan out to somewhere like Spain would benefit our younger players more and improve their technical game.
April 28, 201511 yr I understandthe reasons for loans to the EPL sides, but i sometimes think a loan out to somewhere like Spain would benefit our younger players more and improve their technical game. Trouble is, the pace at which the game is played in other leagues doesn't match the tempo of the Premier League. So if Bamford went to Italy for arguments sake and kept finding himself with lots of time and space to work with (like Salah has) how does that help prepare him for playing for us? If he played for Southampton who put an emphasis on ball retention and playing through the opposition from the midfield then he's getting experience in the same league in a side with a similar football ethic to our own which is more beneficial (in my opinion) than playing abroad against sub standard opposition.
April 28, 201511 yr On Abraham, I'm not massively sold on him. I know he's scored 39 goals at youth level but watching him he doesn't seem to pick up on really simple stuff at times. I have big doubts about him that I don't have with Solanke. I have the same concerns with Abraham, he isn't an intelligent footballer, but his his finishing is top notch. I don't think he will get close to making it here, but I think he could make a career in the lower leagues. I think solanke has the best chance out the 3, he just seems on a different level mentally than Abraham, but it all comes to down to whether he can score goals at senior level, which is something bamford has already proved at championship level.
April 29, 201511 yr I agree to a point with Abraham, quick feet and pace is dangerous at any level and being only 17 has plenty of time to develop the technical side to his game so i'll reserve judgement until further down the line. But with Bamford i'm only torn as to whether he's ready to be our no3 or would he be better served starting with a mid table prem side where he'll start more than being benched, either way I like his attitude and think his movement is very good. not dependent on pace but clever off the ball as he showed in the goal vs Sheff Wed.
