Patrick Bamford - Back at Chelsea?

Not good enough? Seriously?

His problem is fitness, he's a class player when he's fit.

His problems are all in his head, not his fitness.

As much as I would love it see Bamford get a chance in the side, I can't see it happening. If Michy struggles to get oppotunities, what chances has Bamford got?

You're right, also hasn't got a right foot. When needed in a big game he's not there. Which backs up the mental part of the game. When Suarez left he said without a ball being kicked "Don't expect me to get all the goals"

He's scored against some big teams (Man U, Man City etc) so I don't understand the comment that he doesn't turn up in big games.

Don't rate Sturridge.

He's not reliable, he's not progressed as a footballer since he left us and you would be lucky to get more than 15 games out of him in a season.

My feeling is that Chelsea have recalled Patrick Bamford because they have a cunning plan, which is to use him as part of a deal with Middlesborough ( Chelsea are trying to sign Gibson & / or another Boro player ) and Boro would like to have Patrick Bamford on loan again or  even buy him, as Patrick did well last time he played for Boro.........wheeling and dealing going on, trust me I'm a Chelsea supporter !!

Good strikers are a rare commodity and it wouldn't surprise he if Chelsea extend his contract and give him a squad number, if Costa leaves, as 3rd choice striker .....just to facilitate boosting his market value in order to use him in a future deal with Boro.

I have trust in Antonio Conte to get the best out of Patrick Bamford.........based on what Antonio has done for Victor Moses....

If Conte turns Bamford into a PL quality player of even little substance then coach of the decade should be a one horse race!!!

Well he's been sold, so maybe you're actually onto something..

Bamford joined in January of 2012 for around £1.5m. He leaves five years later for around £6m, plus add-ons that could raise the fee as high as £10m.

at least 4.5m made on transfer fees, could be 8.5. The Chelsea Loan Army pays off again. We could go buy 3 more Bamfordinhos with this money, lol, don't break the cycle

I think it's fitting that he's been signed to replace David Nugent.

This transfer had a certain inevitability about it. I wish him all the best, I think he could become a very good player if he is played in a way which can emphasise his talents, and Karanka has done the best job of that so far.

39,000 views so far ........hopefully it will go viral around the World !!

Good advertising ........should attract thousands more Chelsea fans to sign up to the Shed end web site. But not too many, as we don't want it to crash !

Was really hoping he would make it

Yeah, so was I........however I am pleased for him.......as at least he will have a proper opportunity for a long career and earn decent money in one of the strongest clubs in the Championship.

It will be interesting the player or players that may come from Boro ( Gibson & or Traore) to Chelsea in the summer (my hunch) ......Marina & Emanelo have certainly upped their game since last year !!

Interesting interview with Bamford: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4182128/Bamford-answers-critics-rejoining-Middlesbrough.html

The bits which stood out to me:

Quote

On his time at Burnley and people's attitudes regarding his upbringing:

'Me and the boys got on fine but me and Sean Dyche just clashed. I could sit down and talk to him now and be civil but we had different ideas of football. I didn't get a chance. His team has done great, mind. I can't argue with that.'

'There were a few comments at Burnley. Dyche said that because I had come through at Chelsea – and because of the way I had been brought up - I had never had to work for anything. My background is irrelevant and I didn't even come through at Chelsea. I started at Nottingham Forest cleaning toilets and scrubbing the shower floors.'

'So saying I didn't want it enough was upsetting. I went home every night wondering how to get in the Burnley team. It was: 'You've been brought up nicely, had everything handed to you'. Is that what people think just because I went to private school and played instruments? People don't know. My parents never let me have everything. If I started something I had to finish. Like with violin. I started when I was seven only because my best mate wanted to. I hated it and wanted to quit but dad made me continue and I got to grade seven.'

'My parents said I had to know the value of stuff and work for stuff. But when you get dragged along in paper headlines about things outside the game, football people pick up on it. People think I don't mind that much but for me not playing is the hardest thing ever. Sitting in the stands has been a nightmare.'

On how to develop an 'edge' like Diego:

'I have tried but it's difficult when you only ever play in training! You don't want to leave one on your team-mate do you? I spent a whole pre-season with Costa and even though he was one of the funniest guys in the team, he did train with an edge. The ball got played up to him once and Cesar Azpilicueta just nudged him and he turned round and looked at him as though he was about to kill him. I was like: 'Woah'. I have remembered what he does with the ball though. I will never forget that.'

By many indications Bamford is a smart kid. Took school seriously and did well in it, plays the saxophone and violin at a decent level. I played the violin for a long time and never got good. You can't become anywhere near competent without a lot of consistent practice and a good brain.

Then I read that he demanded that the club pay his Sky Sports subscription and internet bill. If that is true, and it well may not be, my impression of his intelligence has taken a hit. Did he really think that making such a petty demand would endear him to the club? :face_palm:

If it's true, it's a sign of just how spoiled these players are and the degree to which clubs bend over backwards for them.
