Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

No point risking him.

He was hampered for a year because Atletico kept rushing him.

Rest him, get him surgery if it's needed and let him get over this once and for all.

Remy is more than good enough to do a job till the end of the season.

I am not worried so long as remy and the drog stay fit.

Didi steps up in big games and remy has goals in him. We just need to do our job properly on Sunday. No messing around.

any hamstring surgery would see him out between 3-6 months minimum and that's only if the muscle has come off the bone which is why I don't think he has had it before.

Hehe, yeah, Chelsbear, I know. In the definite minority of Benteke admirers. But it isn't the last few games. It's what he was doing before the injury. I think I said saying on these forums somewhere that his form was probably down to the mental side and a change could spark him again. Sherwood looks to have done that.

If we want a striker who could play on his own up front comfortably, score regularly and offer a good physical threat whilst not costing too much and having premiership experience, he's a decent option for me.

As far as Drogba replacements go, I'd much rather him than Adebayor!

I said a few weeks ago that he'd be worth and look and that the injury meant it probably wasn't fair to judge him. Now he's come roaring back and shown that maybe he's a case of class being permanent.

In the meantime Christian Benteke has 7 in his last 5. I don't really want to see Villa go down, but if it means Benteke is available for very cheap...

Can imagine there'd be other teams in for him but I actually think he'd really suit us and our style of play. Would he come here to play second fiddle to Diego though?

That's probably going to cost him the Golden Boot.

It's between Diego, Harry Kane and if Aguero finds some form between now and the end of the season.

Costa is set to be out till the end of the month but Spurs only have 2 games between now and Costa's estimated return.

Both of those games are away from home and one is against Southampton who have the best defence in the league.

I'm hoping Diego comes back and gets straight back on the score sheet, we've got Palace, West Brom and Sunderland in May, there's goals to be had in those games.

Costa, Aguero and Kane are all currently tied on 19, and Aguero definitely has the most/easiest fixtures out of the three:

CITY

West Ham (H)
Villa (H)
Tottenham (A)
QPR (H)
Swansea (A)
Southampton (H)

SPURS

Newcastle (A)
Southampton (A)
Man City (H)
Stoke (A)
Hull (H)
Everton (A)

US (the games Costa will be back for)

Palace (H)
Liverpool (H)
West Brom (A)
Sunderland (H)

sh*t, I thought Aguero was on 17 for some reason.

Well to be fair the United game was his first goal in 5 games so he's hardly in form.

I'll hold out hope for Diego to have a late flourish ending on a final day hat trick.

I probably wouldn't risk him at all for Arsenal tbh.

Even off the bench is a huge risk given he's done his hamstring in 3 times now when coming off the bench when supposedly healed.

He probably won't tbh but maybe having him on the bench could be a psycologial help.

Yeah true.

The worry for me is when Jose was talking about it saying he was training at 100% before the Stoke game and the medical staff said he was good to go but he lasted just a few minutes.

I’m not sure how you stop that kind of problem if the medics and such can’t see an issue.

Big odds, the bookies rarely get it wrong I guess though. I would worry that he wont play much more footy now towards the season close. And of course when we do get over the line it may be party time and lads of Diego calibre might get a rest.

My money would be on Aguero.

Arsenal v Chelsea

Leicester v Chelsea

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

Chelsea v Liverpool

West Brom v Chelsea

Chelsea v Sunderland

Man City v Aston Villa

Tottenham v Man City

Man City v QPR

Swansea v Man City

Southampton v Tottenham

Everton v Tottenham

Doubt it tbh.

If there is any question at all (Which there appears to be) then he can't be risked.

It's Drogba or Remy, you simply can't play Costa when he's not 100% because him hamstring is most likely ready to go.

Leicster will be the one he might be back for IMO.
