Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

I'd be inclined to rest him for Leicester too. Drogba up front isn't exactly something I'm clamouring for (I'd start Solanke instead because he can at least run the channels and stretch the defence) but maybe we could risk Remy.

The other option is Cuadrado up front. He's played there a bit, he has pace and we've bought him so we may as well use him.

I wouldn't be particularly inclined to start Drogba against Leicester either. Their centre back duo Huth and Morgan are both imperious in the air, but pretty slow on the turn (and Morgan is far from the best at reading the game). Playing Drogba against them would be playing to their strengths; as BD said someone like Rémy (or failing that, Solanke) would be exploiting their weaknesses. I don't think Cuadrado would have the physicality to get on the ball without dropping deep, which would put him within the clutches of Cambiasso, who has been absolutely magnificent of late.

Obviously if Costa is ready then this whole discussion is moot.

Is he going to play the last couple matches??? Why we starting to have injuries by the end of the season!!

Not sure.

Well it's working out better this way as the title is more or less sealed now so we don't NEED Costa as badly as we would have if not for the point gap.

I wouldn't risk him, maybe give him the time off to sort his issues so we don't have to deal with this again next season which would be his thrid season in a row with the problem.

LOL! Poor FC, that has made me laugh though... I'm afraid I'm with Chelsbear and Jose on this one. He's done his huge part this season, we need him firing next season and there is zero point in risking him now.

f**k his hamstrings I want to win the bet!

I thought he was supposed to only rest and train to be stronger when the next season starts. It's unlikely that he can challenge Aguero for the Golden Boot, so I'd prefer to see him rested and give some youth a chance.

I'm gettikng so sick of this prick. Every single game he is getting needlessly involved in crap with opposition players, causing us problems, and it's not as if he's a Suarez who is banging in 30-40 goals to make up for it. He's been poor for months, doing very little except winding up opponents.

Not playing might be a factor.

The recent months in which he has played.

He scored in both of his last two games though and three in his last five, not counting Stoke where he came off injured after a couple of minutes.

At his best he's an intimidating presence, a burly street-fighter and match winner.

At his worst, he's a petulant moron who is an absolute liability. Tonight isn't just his fault because he's clearly not match-fit so he'll get frustrated and lash out. sh*t man management.

What did he do that was so bad today ? The defenders were just as guilty as he was. The guy get's pushed and grabbed by defenders all of the time, but because he is a striker that likes to give it back to them it's somehow wrong is it ? Since the first game of the season Diego Costa has been treated like the guilty one by the refs, but most replay's show that he has been hard done by. The dives that he is supposed to have done aren't dives and when he get's booked by the refs, it's usually because he pushed a defender off him when another defender has been pushing and grabbing him.

If the refs would do their jobs and actually penalise the defenders for grabbing and pushing Diego Costa, then Deigo Costa wouldn't react to them. I don't see how it is fair that Diego Costa is always the one punished when he is just doing the same things that the defenders do.
