Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Recommended Posts

Jose said its 2 weeks minimum

Pure guesswork, can't tell without scans and tests.

Going by the way he looked in so much discomfort compared to last time, and the fact the club will be ultra cautious with him now, I'll be surprised to see him again in April - best case scenario.

I can't help but think we'll see little of Costa again this season. He'd had a coiple of weeks off and lasted little over ten minutes.

However, I was very pleased with Remy today and I think he's got enough about him to stand in nicely for Costa. He's got a better first touch without a shadow of a doubt. And he was unlucky to subbed today. I guess even Jose couldn't haul Drogba after being on just five minutes.

I think he's out for the season.

Remy gets his chance and he deserves it.

Remy is a goalscorer but there is nothing else to his game.

Costa is superior in every way so it's a loss but we'll just have to make do.

Luckily there are no international tournaments this summer other than the Copa America.

Costa gets a rest and hopefully puts his hamstring problem to bed.

It's been a niggle all season and I still don't think we're seeing him at full throttle.

we shouldn't have brought drogba back knowing that costa had a hamstring problem. the last time costa was out with a hamstring issue, we should have considered bringing bamford back as 2nd choice in case. now we're in a position where if remy gets injured, we have no strikers because we seriously cannot rely on drogba to lead the line at his age. solanke is our only other option is remy gets injured, but then we're relying on a 16 year old!

Remy has been excellent lately and should be very fresh, i'm happy for him to see out the season and give Diego time to properly fix his hammy before coming back in August.

Unless we start to capitulate, then it might be necessary to throw him into a game or two.

I agree about Remy. The big issue now is the lack of depth we now have up front.

Surely if the scans were clear and his hamstring still goes they need to look more in depth st the issue

I think it will be about 4 games then maybe

We do look a little light up front now imho and thst needs to be adressed in the close season surely bamford gets his chance next year

He is probably out for the seaosn. Suprised that he was risked so early. Seemed a lot more serious than the Hull match.

Hopefully we can do well enough in the next couple of games to earn him an extra rest, even if he is fit enough to play.

This issue has been bothering him for too long now, the team should look into surgery/operational options.

I just think he needs time off so he can properly get over it. Ever since he picked up his hamstring injury for Atletico Madrid, he hasn't had rest. A summer without football will do him good.

A good long rest could work, but it will be a massive risk if we were to rely on the rest doing the job and him getting injured again, early next season. Think Jose and medical staff have a major decision to make about what needs to be done over the summer.
