Why do people (not just our fans) always think Crespo was a flop?. The guy basically scored everytime he played for us.

 

He wasn't a flop but the signing wasn't a success in the sense that for 3 of his 5 year contract he was on loan to the Milan teams with us paying the majority of our wages. 

 

If he had properly settled at Chelsea then he would have been phenomenal.

Hear hear. What a quality centre forward that man was.I remember the disallowed goal against Liverpool that was onside. up there in my favourite Chelsea strikers,his movement off the ball.. I'll stop now.

His movement was phenomenal, it really was amazing how he controlled defenders, taking them outside their zone, then running of them into the space.

I love Crespo!! He was pretty close to what Suarez is now in terms of style (minus the biting). Tevez is probably in that mould too..

I'm giving Falcao all my backing despite I don't think he is the quality we want.

This marks a sad day for Chelsea football club and everyone involved.

That might be overstating it a little, but please prove me wrong Falcao.

His friendship with Costa and Cuadrado could help him settle in here, and we have the best coach in the word, and we have a very capable medical staff. Still it's very hard for me to get excited about this.

No need to worry, he is replacing 38 year old Drogba so it's not the end of the world. I think we will sell Remy as he wants to be 1st choice which won't happen with costs in Chelsea. I'm guessing we will be signing another striker, perhaps Benteke.

Just to add to the comments about Crespo, but he's still probably the best 'pure' striker I've seen here. In terms of the skills and instincts of a striker, he was above any other on his day. Never seen a guy with such attacking awareness as him.

Amount of times he'd be called offside for a perfectly timed run... Sublime.

We agree on something

Crespo was class for us.

 

In his first season when Henry was at his peak and playing up front for a top Arsenal team, Crespo scored at a significantly better goals per minute played rate than Henry (not counting Henry's penalties).

 

In his second stint with us his contribution as a support striker to Drogba, usually from the bench, was everything you could hope for from someone in his position.

 

The only issue with Crespo at Chelsea was that he didn't play enough.  In his first stint that was down to injury (or a rumoured falling out with Ranieri).  In his second stint that was down to Didier Drogba tearing apart premiership defences week after week.  But anytime he set food on a pitch for us he was absolute class.

Benteke is not the type we are going to get I think. He would want to move to Chelsea because of Champions League but playing behind a beast like Costa can be frustrating and if Falcao starts firing again you might find yourself playing 5-10 games all season...

Crespo was class, his goals to game ratio was fantastic also no idea why he was branded as a flop.

How is Falcao playing for Colombia today vs Peru? I'm not able to catch the game.

Watched the game. Falcao was subbed after 65mins after a quiet night. Had his first shot of tournament. Have to add Cuadrado was sh*t. Ended 0-0 so Columbia is pretty much out of the tournament.

Subbed for Martinez second half after a nothing game. One shot early on. Did not much else of note. Cuadrado was also poor. Saying that, Colombia have been disappointing overall and their best player James Rodriguez has been underwhelming.

Yes Colombia was bad all over. Looked like they lacked a gameplan. Counter attacking is more their trade and Peru defended well. They insisted on giving Cuadrado the ball who was very badly off form.

Whole of Colombia are poor this tournament, but Falcao is getting the worst of the criticism by far. Ok hes not been his best, but it is like the press are watching them just to find a fault with him

He's captain and is one of their biggest stars, they are probably just shocked he's fallen so far behind his previous standards.
