We Need To Talk About Frank

Featured Replies

Now I know this relationship got a bit strained on here but I'm going to try and capitalise on the good mood around at the moment.

Against Spurs at home a guy in the Shed tried to get a Super Frankie Lampard chant going. This wasn't long after Frank had got 3 goals for City, 1 of which came against us and he looked like he could contribute to a strong City challenge. I remember thinking 'not now mate' because emotions were strong and it was hard to separate a love for the club from a love for the man.

Now City are finished, Frank has had a rather anonymous finish to the season and he posted this message on his instagram.

A massive congratulations to all my old teammates and friends at @chelseafc for winning the Premier League. A huge achievement and well deserved by everyone at the club. Also to all those fantastic fans that I had the pleasure to play for for 13 years. I know how much it means to you all! Enjoy the celebrations in West London tonight! @johnterry.26 @cesarazpi @garyjcahill@didierdrogba @hazardeden_10 @morriskidFollow

You look at who he's addressed that message to and it's not just the fans, but four generations of Chelsea players - his mates! It's clear to see that the bond between him and the players is as strong as it ever was and now that we're clear of the race for the title, I think it's probably time for reconciliation.

So at the Liverpool match I'm going to do my best to get a Super Frankie Lampard chant going not just because he's a Chelsea legend whom I think we all adore, but because it'll be in the presence of the man he was so often compared to, a man who doesn't have one percent of the bottle or character of the great man.

And I hope one day he comes home properly.

There was a Super Frank chant at the Palace game yesterday. Amongst a load of other retro chants we had Leboeuf, Wisey, Di Matteo chants going. Great atmosphere in the MH yesterday, throwback to the 90s!

Meh, he should have been there yesterday. One final hurrah with the four of them, two of which probably won't be here next season. What a way that would have been to go.

Didn't hear a Frankie one but there were some old classics. Heard a great Johnny Neal's Blue and White Army which was a beautiful touch.

Wherever Frank goes or whatever team he plays for his heart will always be with Chelsea. He will always be remembered as a legend. He is also a gentleman and a class act off the pitch. No Chelsea supporter should ever feel any bad feeling towards him. Was strange not seeing him there yesterday.

I think part of the slight ill feeling was born out of our nervousness of City pipping us to the title, and he would have some sort of massive say in it - the game against City at SB is a great example, it was a slighted muted home coming I thought.

It never happened though and I fully expect everything to be brushed under the carpet, he'll be back at some point I think.

Watching on the tellybox yesterday I defo heard a Frankie Lampard chant with a few other oldies. Was absolutely lovely to hear them. When King Didier and JT were celebrating at the end in front of the crowd, I did feel someone was missing.

Super frank was sung, but noticeably jimmy floyd was louder yesterday...for me, until he's no longer wearing a citeh shirt, which is a constant reminder of a disappointing defection and way it was handled, adulation is postponed...

Funny but during the on field  celebrations yesterday I was thinking Frankie you should have been here. That's the way to go out, a Champion.

If this is his last season, Didier will have done it twice!

Lampard is undeniably a massive legend, what he has contributed to this club in the 13 years he was here is immeasurable and unforgettable. One season of killing time at City couldn't possibly change that. I know it's easier to say that now that their title challenge has ended with an inaudible whimper, but I would have given the same answer at the beginning of the season (and quite possibly did - I can't remember if I posted anything about it).

I don't think his loyalty has ever really wavered, I imagine he's as happy about the club to which he gave so much of his career winning the league as anyone. Man City took four points off Man Utd during the season that Schmeichel was there, I don't think his status as a legend has been diminished. Chelsea and City, while rivals for the title, don't have any particular resentment of each other. Certainly I don't have a problem with them, it's not as if he went to Tottenham, Arsenal or Liverpool.

I suppose everyone will have their own opinion on this, but mine is that nothing can erase the enormous amount that Lampard did for Chelsea over the years, and that is what will always maintain him as a Chelsea legend for me. Regardless of what happens afterwards.

He shouldn't have joined that sh*te club at first place( I was outrageously mad at him at that time... maybe emotions got the better off me) ... but nonetheless it was his decision so we can't complain....

But I wanted him to be here... he should have been here.... along with Drogs, Terry and Cech, I mean he deserves to be here and holding that trophy....

Al though we have won it, it feels bit incomplete without him. He's Frank Lampard, He's Chelsea. It irks me to see him in that sh*tehole Manchester watching us winning the league..... where he should have been winning it with us... :(

I think he said something like "I can't ever imagine playing for another English team" but I may be wrong

Oh right, well I guess we can all say things then go back on it.

I do think we have to think of Frank's personal life aswell here though, plus it maybe was a good move for him while he waited for New York (although they made a farce of that).

I don't think people would have been mad had he signed for a non title rival like Palace or something though. I certainly wasn't happy he signed for City but I have and never will blame Frank.

His season up north has to be a gigantic PR disaster on his otherwise hugh successful cv with Chelsea FC, when he dicides his playing career is over & he returns home to begin the other side of football & helps push Chelsea to more success, he will be forgiven I am sure

for that little blip up north.
