Super Frank's Send Off

Can't they just both be excellent players? They're actually different types of player, they played in different teams (of vastly different quality at times) but are both legends in the minds of their supporters. Isn't that the most important thing?

Wouldn't it be nice for 1 pundit to stick his head above the parapet and say, do you know what Lampards had the better career, but Gerrard is a legend at Liverpool.

Instead of bringing up games from 9/10 years ago to try and 'win' an arguement thats unwinnable!

Here's 4 in the mail

Just a couple of points from that article, does anyone call the 2006 FA cup final the Steven Gerrard final? I've never ever heard that.

I also don't think that Gerrard turned the Champions League final on its head, he scored what was at that point a consolation goal, if anything you've got to look at Milans capitulation after that goal.

I'm not in the camp that thinks Gerrard is a bad player etc etc, but this hype is ridiculous, he was a good player, he has remained at the same club his whole career (although only withdrew a transfer request after threats were allegedly made) what we don't need is being force fed he's the greatest ever midfielder in the Premier League and Liverpools best player ever. Thats just bullsh*t!

Nice. Verrrry nice.

Isn't Premier League Player of the season mentioned twice? Not that I mind :-)

Still not as bad as the hype going around for stevie me - to hear all of these fools bang their heads on the wall & swear up & down that he was actually in the same league as Super Frank talent wise. I wonder how come I can't get their job because I know more than them

In a poster like this for Stevie Me a much bigger font would have to be used to fill the space :-)

In terms of that England generation, I think 2006 is the world cup all of them will look back on with major regret. Lamps and gerrard were 2nd and 3rd respectively in ballon d'or, and we had one of the strongest 11's on paper in world football.

Owen got injured against Sweden, and then we lost Beckham against Portugal, before Rooney got sent off. Still took it to pens though and had the chance to make the semis.

it was France vs Italy in the final and i think we had the team capable of beating either, how times have changed!

Robinson

Neville ferdinand Terry a.cole

Beckham gerrard lampard j.cole

Owen Rooney.

best xi in my lifetime for sure.

Farewell Frank Lampard on Sky Sports 1 Monday at 7pm

A look at the Barclays Premier League career of midfielder Frank Lampard ahead of his summer move to MLS side New York City. Lampard scored a club-record 211 goals for Chelsea.

Another one I shall be watching.

@Chelsea_HQ: Lampard: "I didn’t need a fanfare. My fanfare was looking back on victories like Munich and winning the league at Bolton." [independent]

^ Typical Frank, not about the fuss.

Tbh were I footballer I wouldn't want the fuss either

Respect to Pellegrini for showing respect to a legend of English football, then again given how bad Kompany has been this season perhaps he should have made him captain 8 months ago

Lampard was replaced after 75 minutes and received a standing ovation from the home fans

And those home fans were City fans.

I feel sick.
