Super Frank's Send Off

Featured Replies

In the end I think both players got the send off they both would have wanted..

Gerrard would have been delighted with the cameras, the guard of honour and the media hype.

Lampard will have been happy to move off quietly on his next adventure. We showered Lampard with our affections after the home and away matches v City this season. We will no doubt get another chance to do it properly when he comes back to the Bridge next time - probably in a coaching capacity. Frank doesn't seem like the type of guy who cares whether or not the BBC will make a montage on him or whether the Daily Mail will make a quadruple page spread on him

MOTD2 doing a Lampard v Gerrard debate:

first category: Who is the better Goalscorer

They show a few clips of Gerrard screamers (like the goal against West Ham)

Then they show a few Lampard tap-ins, failing to show any of his screamers (they say he has a knack of getting in the right position to score tap ins)

The pundits (Phil Nev and Keown) then conclude that Gerrard (184 Liverpool goals) is a better goalscorer than the Premier League's highest ever goalscoring midfielder  Lampard (258 Chelsea goals)

Nothing fishy about that at all, I'll just wait for Blue Daze to explain this one away. Probably something about having to big up Gerrard because he's retiring or something, who knows.

Nah.

More like different people having different opinions and there's no law against morons expressing their's.

See personally I don't care for Keown and Philip Neville's opinions so I don't listen to them. In fact I'm not sure why anyone would. As football pundits they're underwhelming, Phil in particular.

Based on what I've read on here, the only purpose he serves is to give people something to be outraged about. A bit like Adrian Durham, but greyer.

It seems as though there's a market for people who want to watch something just so they can say 'OMG guys, can you believe wat he just said?lolz'.

Less discussion about what Henry Winter says on MOTD2 though. Odd that.

Gerrard is a one club man, unfortunately Lampard tainted his legacy this season

I agree with this tbh.

Although that's not the reason why Gerrard is getting the love and not Lampard. Gerrard always gets arse licked by the media, that's the sole reason why he would get it more than anyone else.

Easy to say the reaction to Lampard at City was ridiculous now, think back to how you felt when he equalised against us.....

In all fairness this forum was good, most people were on Lampards side even then.

It wasn't until about December when City caught up to us due to Lampard scoring the winner against Hull that people started to get nervous about it all and by early January the Frank Lampard thread was really heated. Cech_Hook had a few things to say, wherever he is now?

Although if you want to find embarrassing look at the TalkChelsea forum and see how they looked at Frank.

They mentioned his name last night on motd. Neville and Keown both pretty much decided Gerrard was the better player.

I could get angry with the media for all the Gerrard bullsh*t and completely ignoring Lamps, but I don't actually care what those (mostly) idiots in de media or other fans say or think about Lamps. As long as we don't forget about him and give him the respect he deserves it's all good to me.

I reckon on reflection Frank will be regretting not signing the new contract at Chelsea on reduced terms or doing what he said he was, going to NYCFC after a 3 month loan to City.

It's all ended a bit... Bleugh! For Frank, especially in contrast to how it's ending for Gerrard.

According to a liverpool friend, Gerrard was the better scorer, because he played in a worse team. How does Lampard playing in a better team, take away from his goal scoring ability, or how does a worse team somehow make Gerrard the better finisher, honestly these deluded dippers.

we need another lampard. There really aren't many, if any, english players (or otherwise) cut from the same cloth as lamps in this new era of football.

Gerrard truly is the first 'one club man' in history who will play for two clubs. An outstanding achievement to be fair to him.

The transfer request he handed in around 2005 in an attempt to force through a move to bitter rivals Chelsea is a mere detail.

Legend, whether or not he played for City

Only shame is that hes going to play more in New York when I live in Los Angeles, but I get it, less of a time difference to visit his family and friends

gerrard vs lampard is interesting.

I think gerrard could be the better passer (he tries enough) and has maybe proven the be the best leader, (jt overshadowed lamps a bit).

I would put lamps ahead though in terms of goalscoring, tactical, technical, and defensively.

Looking forward to seeing him, JT, Ashley, Petr and co. all back at the Bridge for whatevery testimonial/charity game they do to honour them all - that is when his proper send off will be - back at home.

He really did prove everyone wrong.  They said that he was an overpriced gamble, until they couldn't any more.  They called him fat, until they couldn't any more.  They said all his goals were deflections, until they couldn't anymore.

He took on every challenge in his career with professionalism and won with flying colours.  I don't doubt he will do the same in North America.

Some people still call him Fat Frank, Lumplard or something along those lines. I saw people calling him fat just the other day in the comments section on one of the Lampard related articles on Sky Sports.

The funny thing about the whole Fat Frank thing, is most the dickheads I hear calling him Fat are fat bar stewards themselves

No media love for Lampard.... an end to a career in English football that has seen him notch up the second most Premier League appearances, the fourth most Premier League goals and the third most Premier League assists.

I have been saying this on other forums. The excuse people have for this is that Lampard got the same praise last year when everybody thought he was off to New York............Uh, no. Lampard had a few things said about him but not anything like what Gerrard got.

When exactly did Lampard announce he was going to MLS, I'm pretty sure it was quite late in the season or even after the season was over.
