Petr Cech to Arsenal

Featured Replies

Can't wish him luck in his professional life but wish him the best in his personal.

Thank you for everything Pete, right up until acting with such class and decorum last year.

Utter legend, the best we've had in that position in my lifetime and one of the best ever.

Indisputably a legend!

No legend moves on a permanent deal to a rival club. End of. Thanks for what you've done cech but you've gone down in my estimation.

really? the guy has lived in london for the last 10 years, has a settled family here. he has done nothing wrong, yet been dropped to number 2 (understandably, even though he is currently a better keeper than courtois imo). he has been fantastic for us, our greatest ever keeper and regardless of what happens now he will remain a club legend. staying and fighting this season showed more loyalty than many players would have shown. i wish he wasn't going to arsenal, but that is the club's fault and not his. always a legend in my eyes

Apparently done now. Now wait till we get knocked out by arsenal in the FA Cup/CL next season. Not to mention those cnuts rubbing the clean sheet record in out faces.

Pathetic from Cech, I hope loses form and sits at bench behind schezney.

People need to disconnect from the loyalty thing, currently petr cech is in a job he isn't enjoying, he has an opportunity to move to another without any disruption to his young family, and he gets to play at the same level. He will obviously have a massive emotional attachment to our club, but he's not a life long fan like us, he has to now do whats best for him and his family. If that's move to arsenal them so be it. We can be unhappy about it, but that should not detract from an amazing career with us, he had a massive part to play in winning every trophy available, including those saves in the cl final. He is and always will be a Chelsea legend.

Club legends don't transfer to bitter rivals.

It's unfortunate but he is surplus to first team requirements here and for a goalkeeper that pretty much means a perminant bench place. We're looking for a goalkeeper for the next 10+ years like we did when we got Pete. Carlo didn't do anything wrong but we had a better replacement, it's the same this time... and we'll probably do it to Tibo in the future too.

I don't wish him well professionally at all (club level) but then I wouldn't wish anyone leaving for Arsenal success...!) but on a personal level I hope he and his family remain settled and happy.

Thanks for Munich, Pete.

Nothing will change what he has done for us but I don't like the fact he is ok with moving to a bitter rival. He will always be a hero in terms of what he achieve at the club. I do hope though that if it goes through he never kicks a ball (or saves one) for them.

Silly decision from the club and one that could come back to haunt us.

I f**king hate Arsenal.

Can't say I understand the logic in this. It'd be like if we sold De Gea to Liverpool for £15M.

We all know he's off which is really unfortunate for us, but at least he's going abroad and not to one our of PL rivals.

It's either genius or major hubris on the part of the club.

The club should disconnect from this whole loyalty and club legend thing as well and make him sit the bench for another year. After all the club can walk the league for another year "without any disruption" to their newly formed young squad as well. The club should do what is best for them, if Cech is acting selfish then the club should too.

And dont get me wrong, I dont have any emotional attachment for club players. It wouldnt set me off one bit if Cech went of to play for spurs, hell I even wont care if he played for fecking milwall and kissed their badge. Arsenal have a very real chance of hurting us when it comes to trophies next season. The club should be ruthless and cut off any move unless they gove us a good player.

Of course ges acting selfishly, he's now second choice with a year to go through on his contract. So after years of brilliant service we should just treat him like crap? Great idea, what a way to treat a legend.

Or what a way for the (supposed) legend to treat the club and the fans.

He doesn't want to uproot his family from London.

What part of that don't you understand?

The club should not be strengthening their closest competitor.

What part of that dont you understand?

He may be a club legend but we also paid him handsomely whilst with us. Only we would sell to a direct rival, again!!

Why not?

Legend is brandished around far too much these days, there are a few at each club down the ages but lots of great players. A legend understands the ethos of the club and its supporters. Myself I'd call Chopper a legend, JT is heading that way. Didier understands that playing for a rival is taboo. This distinguishes great players who played for the club to legends who played for the club in my eyes.

He's a club legend.

He's transferring to Arsenal.

Arsenal are a rival.

He's still a legend.

Legends aren't still playing they have retired!

damn, his GK coach is going too? He'll probably stay on well after Cech leaves.

Hope the other coaches would be able to step up
