February 28, 20197 yr Seen a couple of programmes of Portillo taking train trips around India on the trail of some British travel writer in the time of the British Raj. Never wanted to travel there though find this reasonably interesting, for example never knew they had a tube network in New Delhi, the latter being the 2nd biggest city globally with 19m. March 1, 20197 yr MOTD Wednesday. Watched the highlights of us beating Spuds and it certainly was well worth watching
March 8, 20197 yr I'm finding this series interesting seeing what's in vogue in housing regardless of whether you live in terraced or cottage or new build etc. Bizarre in a way as I'm no DIYer and have rented near all my adult life as missed the affordable home time before early 90's asset inflation exploded. The only football link is sometimes seeing how kids bedrooms are decorated with their favorite team. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0003240/best-house-in-town-series-1-20-cardiff-final

April 4, 20197 yr Not a TV programme but does anyone else feeling like kicking sh*t out the telly during Oral B adverts? Brush like a Pro. What’s that, a professional tooth brusher- 3 year degree course. ” I didn’t even know Oral B made a toothpaste” giggle.... Try opening your eyes next time your walking down the dental products aisle you dozy moo. ” Not just any electric toothbrush. The one with the round head” As opposed to an electric toothbrush with Square, or trapezium shaped heads? “ But how do I keep my mouth clean” Mmmmm. Toothpaste perhaps? Sincerely hope all her lovely white molars fall out and she has to gum for the rest of her bubblehead existence.

When I used to read about health a certain biophysicist moaned about the state of the world. She said pre-mid 50's tooth health was about absorption of calcium and getting enough vitamin D and then it changed to forget nutrition and suddenly it was all about what design your toothbrush was.

April 9, 20197 yr Well, it's a netflix thing if thats counted the same as regular T.V. Watched the first episode of Our Planet. Gob smacking amazing photography, and wonderful commentary by The Man, David. But what it told me ultimately is that we are screwed, despite the fact that I have been recycling for years and am almost a vegetarian. Edited April 9, 20197 yr by Teebah78
April 20, 20197 yr Last night I watched a very interesting programme about the life and songs of Woody Guthrie. He wrote hundreds of songs and recorded only about 10% of them. He wrote at the time of the Great Depression and Dustbowl in States such as Oklahoma. Many people left that state and its neighbouring states and headed towards California but were not welcomed there as they were accused of being unemployable and sponging off the state. Guthrie worked for a while at a radio station in Los Angeles but was sacked due his songs being too political. His most famous song is This Land is Your Land. What I didn't realise until I watched the programme is that he borrowed the tune from a song performed by the Carter Family. He moved to New York and lived in an apartment owned by Fred Trump who didn't want black Americans living in the apartment block. Guthrie wrote a disparaging song about Trump. If Guthrie was still alive I suspect he would be very scathing about Fred Trump's son, Donald. This Land is Your Land was performed by Bruce Springsteen, Pete Seeger and others at Obama's inauguration in 2009. Guthrie's impact on other song-writers is immense. For examples Bob Dylan's song Ballad of Hollis Brown is very similar to Guthrie's song. Guthrie died in 1967 at the age of 55 and had suffered from Huntington's disease since the early fifties. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00048qp/woody-guthrie-three-chords-and-the-truth @moi I think you'll be interested in the programme if you have a chance to watch it.

May 7, 20197 yr Watching Chernobyl; can’t take it seriously with all the British actors with British accents. Also Paul Ritter didn’t react to the disaster as expected...
May 7, 20197 yr I've been watching Doom Patrol, easily the best superhero TV series I've watched. Weird as hell and Brendan Fraiser and Timothy Dalton are amazing in it.
May 14, 20197 yr I have just watched episode one of Years and Years by the brilliant Russell T Davies. Very promising...
May 15, 20197 yr Watched a couple of episodes of the Netflix show "Dead to Me", its been pretty good and looks like its going to be quite dark.
May 15, 20197 yr Sabrina on Netflix. It's okay. Quite dark. A bit anti-male, but I mostly just ignore that.

It really makes me laugh when one minute they are hailing satan and the next scene is some high school drama which pales in comparison stakes wise.

May 31, 20197 yr New series of Inspector Montalbano starting on BBC4 this Saturday. Will watch it as there is nothing else on telly that night. I've watched previous series and they are all very good. Very good adaptations of the books. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0005rvj

I'm currently watching The Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. It's so good, and dark! I've always fancied Drew Barrymore, since her Charlie's Angel's days, so this is a great show for me.
