I think this will happen now, the only doubt I had was whether Begovic would be willing to fight for number 1 spot or just wanted to walk into a starting 11.  Seems he is willing to fight

I think Begovic would be a brilliant signing as a backup GK. He’s in the top 6 or in the PL IMO and homegrown – I’m not sure we could ask for any more from a back up to be quite honest. Sky claim that we are frontrunners and that he wants to join us too. However, I’d be really surprised if someone of his talent would be happy to warm the bench for us and to just play in the cups. It’s not inconceivable that United could come in for him if they sell De Gea.

He wanted to join us before though so maybe he thinks it's his best chance to win silverware.

He's no Petr Cech obviously but a quality keeper in his own right and I would be very happy if someone of his quality was signed as a replacement. 

If this does happen it's a real coup. I was absolutely terrified of the rumours flying around; the thought of Courtois being stretchered off after 10 minutes of a CL semi-final at the Nou Camp only to be replaced by Rob Green gave me the shivers.

 

Begovic is as good a backup goalkeeper as I could really have dreamed of, a very good all-rounder and a safe and trustworthy pair of hands we can rely on if anything does happen to Courtois.

WAGNH reporting deal done for £8m

We've gone from having the best backup goalkeeper in the league to having...the best backup goalkeeper in the league. Can't complain.

Apparently Begovic stands to earn £75k a week for mostly sitting on a cushy seat in the dug-out: £4m a year - nice little earner.

Very proud personally to see a first Bosnian player on our squad, at a time when making our squad is not really an easy thing.

Also just for me personally, I just really hope that him being on the bench from now on won't damage his form for the Bosnian national team.

We (Bosnians) need him to come through big this year for us to make the Euros next year.

On the other, non personal note, I couldn't be happier we got him as a back-up, and I think we still have the best pair of keepers in the world.

Too good to be a bench GK. However if he's willing, I don't mind either. It's great to have a backup GK that could challenge TC. The risk is after a year, he could demand a move because he's not getting picked by the national team due to lack of games.

Make him number one for both the League and FA cup matches, give him some premier league matches (such as against teams such as his former side Stoke and the like) and maybe half the CL group games (provided he performs well)

 

Make sure he stays sharp in case Tibo gets injured again.

Stoke are fortunate as well that they have Butland ready to come in to replace Begovic.

Don't think it can be stated enough how important that is these days, especially when you consider how few English players there are that are good enough for us.

The Sun reporting this morning that Stoke want winger Victor Moses, Patrick Bamford or Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan in addition to £8m Begovic,

Well we cant loan RLC or else Jose will come across as being untruthful.

Bamford if he get's game time would be useful.

Moses is wroth around £6-8 million on his own so that's not a good deal if we are shelling out £8 million on Begovic.

I'd go for the Bamford loan.

Yeah if that's true then Bamford loan seems the best option

Bamford's loan sounds good, would be great to see him with Berahino.
