curious transfer, even though it doesn't come with the risks that it did for united last season or the pressure on him to be a great first choice player.

I wonder if jose is considering using a diamond next season.

My thinking as well, he won his first CL with a diamond for the most part. There is every chance he wants the option for a diamond,

Matic at the Base, hazard left of center, fabregas at the tip and willian on the right

I would have guessed it would be hazard behind a front two? fabregas and ramires/ loftus cheek / new signing playing in the middle ahead of matic?

anyway I don't see how you can rehabilitate a player if he isn't going to play regularly.

Good news if true. We needed an experienced replacement for Didier, and it'd be silly money for any realistic improvement on Costa. I thought he looked decent enough last season, certainly enough to suggest he's capable of doing a job for us.

One year loan as well. Even if he's underwhelming it'll be hard to suggest this is move was a bad choice.

1 word: specsavers.

I don't want Falcao, this dude rejected us twice.

I know. Now he really wants to play for Chelsea because we won PL.

i may be wrong but it seems he's here just for the ride. But I'm glad it's just one season loan.

Mourinho did not want schevchenko, he seems to want Falcao. Torres has nothing to do with Mourinho, did he even make the squad for a single competitive game under Mourinho? For those who couldn't see the difference.

I also noticed some were comparing Falcao's fee and wages to just the fees of the other two mentioned strikers. Wasn't Torres on 180,000 a week? Considering how good they've been at negotiating, I find it hard to believe our club will agree to pay more to last season's worst striker, argueabley, in the league than our main season striker who was arguably the best striker in the league last season. Especially as Costa used to be Falcao's backup and to pay him less now would be essentially saying "f**king you Costa, nothing you did last season matters".

I'm not sold on Falcao coming in but I think some may be harsh on the club if not the player with all the worst automatically being assumed.

To be fair, considering the performances and results when we played against Falcao at AM, I wouldn't blame him for not seeing success with a move here.

Edit: then.

Yes, quite a few times actually....

Playing a diamond would involve playing two forwards, imo that would mean we need four forwards in the squad, maybe we do have room for Bamford then ?

SH1T IS getting real, unfortunately. So we are paying 7M on top of some of the his wage to sign him of a year, assume has a good year, we have the option to sign him ( 30 years old) for 35M plus full pay. First, that's a pretty expensive short term loan, we could have made it 15M to sign Austin, who's a pretty good striker himself, and probably would settle for the 2/3rd striker role. If Falco  scores the 15+ goals, would we invest 35M to buy a 30 year old striker? That's incredibly expensive. I won't even getting into what will happen to Remy once we sign Falcao. Just like Sheva or Torres, Jose will spend half of his pre/post match interview about Falco next season, it's just an unnecessary distraction. Jose/Falco could prove all of us doubters wrong, but from what i have seen, the odds are not in their favourite.

He was pretty poor last night.

It's the same way he's been performing for 16 months so I'm not shocked.

Honestly can't see him returning to the form he had 3/4 years ago.

Can imagine a scenario in Jan where Remy asks to leave because he's not getting enough games. Falcao isn't playing well but continues to get game time so we go for another striker and we all say what we've been saying for ages in that Falcao is no longer good enough and Remy should have gotten more game time. I get that people say he's a minimum risk due to him been a loan but if he takes minutes away from Remy we could lose him and in a similar boat we were in before where we have an out of form striker keeping out a player who deserves to play more.

Remy will most probably be looking for more game time with the Euros looming... so it wouldnt surprise me one bit to see him leave. If we are left in a situation where we have an out of form falcao as our main striker (should Diego's hammy be playing up for instance) failing to do the business, then there will be nowhere for Jose to hide on this one. It is a massive risk. I would much prefer to have another option as backup who is proven in this league, which is why I would love to see Benteke at Chelsea being rotated regularly with Costa to keep them both fresh throughout the campaign.

Agreed. At his age it is hard to imagine him recovering from that knee injury. I am just hopeful that he is use very sparingly, if at all, and sincerely hope that Costa stays fit.

Its a crisis of confidence after LVG shattered him.

Jose will work his magic and have him banging them in.

There's a chap who posted on the Diego Costa thread with a very similar name to your's. You're a different person right?
