Radamel "the project" Falcao

Featured Replies

I just read on WAGNH that Falcao has injured himself again

"Falcao wants to play but he can't do it yet because he is unable to train. He is currently undergoing treatment. I hope for him to be ready at some point because in the Premier League we need all our strikers. He has had bad luck this season. He was training and suffered a setback. Then he started training again and suffered another setback. It has been an injury with many setbacks and that was not good for him." - Guus Hiddink on the availability of Falcao

This transfer is nothing but a sick joke. I remember so many Blues fans thinking that Falcao could return to his 2012 performance level. I guess people have the right to dream for better days.

I hope Guus is not thinking of playing an attacking combo with Falcao - Pato tomorrow...

nope - Guus said in he presser today that Diego has to play, but w/ a leash on him. The physios & himself are monitoring DC very careful. One thing I have noticed this season is how many matches he has played this season. Last season I believe DC only played in 75% of all matches. I am thinking he is closer to 90% this season. Ok, maybe he had more suspensions.

Am excited to have him back.

Why, do you like seeing his flowing locks on the bench?

It's painful on a personal level to see people taking the piss out of Falcao due to his injuries.

My career as a teacher ended due to a medical problem that caused mental "dopeyness" and slurred speech, basically the teacher equivalent of a major leg injury.

Even after my speech was restored, I had no confidence. I was petrified to the point of panic attacks about speaking in front of a large class. I even avoided the phone entirely because I was so scared.

The nervousness caused me to mix up my words and say the stupidest things that left me embarrassed.

Then the slurred speech came back, and my career was over.

I was a good teacher for my experience level and on the road to developing into an excellent teacher. It's been devastating.

I had the luxury of not being a public figure like Falcao. If I had to put up with the things dished out at Falcao, it would have driven me to life threatening depression. It doesn't matter that Falcao has such a high salary. No salary would have made it fine for me.

Please have compassion for Falcao. It could happen to you or a loved one just like it happened to him, and I guarantee it won't be funny.

I've seen a lot of riducule (not talking of this forum specifically) of the decision to give Falcao some minutes, and I know that football fans can be a really harsh bunch, so I'm not expecting to change many minds here, but I feel compelled to say something.

I'm thrilled Falcao got some minutes even if they were pity minutes. It was compassionate of Guus to do that when he knew the decision to play Falcao instead of a youth player would be frowned upon.

As I described above, my blossoming career as a teacher was derailed due to medical problems that affected my speech. It's made me so depressed, and it would be infinitely worse if it were in the public eye regardless of salary.

I'm not sure I'll ever have the courage to step into a large classroom again and face potential ridicule and criticism from students.

In that way Falcao has shown courage that I wish I had. It took courage for him to return to the bench and show in training that he wanted to play. That may sound silly to people who have not been in a parallel situation. He knew that he was putting himself in the spotlight for ridicule and criticism from so called fans.

It's a sad reflection of society in general, that people judge you and conclude that you're expendable due to medical problems outside your control and seem to quickly forget the things you were capable of before.

It's football, if you are not good at it anymore it's done.

No point trying to dress it up. Falcao is a dud, he's a expensive one at that. He shouldn't be getting any minutes because in a month or two he will have nothing to do with our club while Traore and others will be.

He's still a human being who was a damn good football player, and the decision to play him for 10 minutes should not receive such ridicule and criticism.

The fact that Guus played him indicates that he's worked hard and shown a good attitude in training. Guus places a lot of emphasis on effort and attitude in training.

Falcao's situation reminds me of Stuart Holden. Bolton fans (remember that they were mid table Premier League at the time) never treated Holden with such contempt.

If Traore not playing those 10 minutes ends up impacting his career, then something will have seriously gone wrong with our choice of managers.
