Unfortunately I think the Wilshere blow could be a blessing in disguise for Arsenal. They need a much better backup DM than Arteta or Flamini and this might force them into the market. Granted most of the good DM prospects have already gone but pretty much anything Wenger can find will be an improvement on those two.

Wasn't there a stat last season that their win percentage is much higher when he doesn't play for Arsenal?

I reckon Arsenal are lining up one more big transfer before the window closes anyway, no way do I think Wenger is content with his lot right now.

Lots of rumours of Benzema at the moment.

Jack Wilshere really is made of glass, isn't he? Broke his ankle in training and is out for another 2 months.

The most injury-hit player since Hargreaves, surely?

Hargreaves didn't pick up a load of injuries in his Bayern Munich days, it was when he moved to United that it started going wrong for him.

They must be doing something wrong in training at Arsenal, it isn't natural that they have so many injury prone players.

^ Don't think he was the flop rival fans made him out to be; 3 goals + 10 assists in 27 games in his 1st season say different, and I would kill to have Willian post those stats (2 goals + 3 assists last season). He just didn't want to be there and they are better off cutting their losses than waiting to see if things change this upcoming season.

I don't think he was a "flop" in the traditional sense but it's crazy to invest almost £60m in someone only for them to apparently have so much trouble adapting to their new surroundings.

Just makes it reek of a knee jerk signing to attempt to appease the fans after such a poor showing under Moyes.

When you consider they dropped around £14m on Falcao with loan fee and wages and he bombed there that's the best part of £30m they'll never see again. Crazy money and surely United are the only team who could do that in the Premier League and not even flinch about it.

Di Maria officially sold to PSG for £44m

£14m loss in one season for United.

Ouch!

To be fair that isn't a massive loss considering player amortisation (as well as Di Maria's obvious desperation to leave). If they bought him for £60m (ish) on a five-year contract they should expect his value to drop about £12m a season. To only have lost an additional £4m in light of Di Maria's position at Man Utd being completely untenable (breakdown of relationship with the manager, failure to turn up for pre-season), as well as getting his massive wages off the books, they've done alright really.

Obviously on a footballing level he's been a massive disappointment, and they've also strengthened a Champions League rival in PSG, but financially they haven't come out of it too badly.

That's what I've said for years. It is unreal how many injuries they have every seasons. They must have some kind of crazy training

schedule to cause all that.

Those stats are misleading. He was really poor pretty much every time i watched him. He would get the odd assist here and there but his overall contribution in games was poor. He was the perfect example of a luxury player. I would love Willian to improve stats wise too, but not if it meant we lost what he currently brings to the team.

He is exactly the type of footballer I loathe, such a little prick! He's probably like Jay from the inbetweeners....only with a bazillion pounds.

Absolute b@stard.

No De Gea for Saturday, he must be off

Valdes has been told he's not wanted either.

Busy times ahead for United in the market still.

They're going to need another goalkeeper, still chasing Pedro and apparently haven't given up on Ramos either, so you assume they still want an experienced centre back.

Well pellegrini got his man sterling, so lets see if he can win any big trophies this season. I think they'll be more pressure on him now he's got the signing/s he wanted.
