Then if they don't hit the ground running, you can bet the excuse will be 'he hasn't had a proper pre season'.

If United and city sign who they are rumoured to be signing then is what we have, plus begovic, enough to retain the title.

There are just no real links out there to us signing anyone else. Any rumour seems to be agents using us to get better deals.

As a whole i think despite these rumoured signing are squad is plenty strong and has no major weaknesses, and squad depth is the only thing that might need a bit of improving but I wouldn't mind if we gave the youth a chance.

I do however believe next season will be a lot tighter.

Man city's squad should definitely have done better last season and i don't see them being that lapse again. However I'm not sure that the potential Man city signings will massively improve their first team, KdB is currently no better than silva, Sterling is an Improvement on Navas but this transfer saga is definitely going to have an impact on his performances and confidence at the start of the season, Pogba would be a big boost to the midfield but this looks further and further unlikely to happen.

 

Man U need to sign a lot more than Schweinsteiger and Higuain if they want to compete, they still haven't fixed their main problem which is their defence which is actually getting weaker with De Gea going. Ramos is not going to head there. Rumours for other defenders have been sporadic so I am not sure who they are going to use to plug up that massive hole, and unless this gets fixed with a very good defender or 2, i don't think a 30 year old midfielder who is obviously on a downward curve otherwise bayern wouldn't sell him (especially for such a low fee) and a 27 year striker who hasn't turned in good performances in games that matter are going to turn Man U into a force. IMO they are fighting for 4th with Liverpool, Southampton, Spurs and the like. 

Arsenal i think are the main threat a good goalkeeper and link to a threatening young striker in lacazette and if they bulk up that midfield with a strong CM they are going to be though competition.

I still think we are ahead but its a decreased gap and a potentially exciting season.

Of coarse I would like for us to strengthen but in recent years we have been employing the policy of buying players through the revenue generated by selling players so without selling a few players such as Mikel, Ramires, Salah and Courdrado to name a few that have rumoured interest to finance these transfers I can't see any big players coming in.

Dream scenario we sell Mikel and Ramires to sign Pogba and then we could fill the squad place created with RLC Baker and the like

Why bother complaining about the time it's taking to make signings? Do you think the club are purposefully waiting till the end of the window to make signings or maybe negotiations take time.

Look at the Begovic deal. We've known for weeks he's coming but it's still taking time.

You said yourself if a big deal was to be made the latest you think it would happen would be end of July, we're not even half way through July yet.

Last year's speed of signings was an anomaly not a constant.

The season before last Scurrle signed when the window opened. William and Eto'o signed 2 days before the window closed.

The season before that Hazard signed the day the window opened, Oscar at the end of

July, Dave a week before the window closed.

The season before that Courtois end of July, Lukaku mid August, Mata last week of August.

While that's true we don't really want to be leaving it until the last minute.

Would we rather the club conducted their business under the radar or like city with Sterling? I know which I prefer. This obviously leads to uncertainty about our signings but people are worrying about something not happening that could very well be happening right now

I can see that been it tbh, it's been proven in the past you can't stand still you have to constantly better you team.

How does anyone know what mourinhno is thinking? I know wagnh site is very genuine it seems, but no one knows what jose is feeling.

Of course no one does but it's not nice to read, puts doubts into the mind

Chelsea is one of the best run clubs in the whole of the premier league. The people in charge are not idiots. I understand with it being summer and no football, people get bored and their start wandering but have some faith in the club and especially mourinho. They've earned that right.

Also sometimes I wonder if people actually want these signings because we need the players or simply to gloat on Twitter and troll our rivals.

I don't think it's enough with Hazard, Willian and a helpess Cuadrado to cover our two wing positions for 60+ games.

 

I would be happy with one of these: Sterling, Reus, Pedro, *Isco.

I'm more concerned that we are seeing Ake and Izzy Brown and others sent out on loan. The squad seems lighter now than it was in May.
