August 5, 201510 yr The player's agent Sascha Empacher has confirmed a deal in principle is agreed and the rubber stamps can be unleashed as soon as Augsburg and Chelsea officials come to terms. He told Sport Bild: "It is only the clubs that have to find an agreement. We on our side are agreed."
August 5, 201510 yr We aren't really judging Willian on his output, for £32m I expect more than 5goals + 5 assists every season and fans seem to have renamed him Exactly. People are killing Cuadrado for no contribution yet Willian makes very little and hes praised. Its a double standard.
August 5, 201510 yr Yeah who needs goals in football. Completely overrated they are. So after six months, a player of 27 who is one of the most expensive players in our squad has failed to make one contribution of significance.... Exactly what are we waiting for? Not much difference between 1 and 0. You can wait as long as you like to judge, Im just trying to give him more than a handful of starts to prove he belongs. As I said hes been dreadful so far, Im just not writing him off yet
August 5, 201510 yr Difference being Willian looks like he is a footballer. He can dribble while Cuadrado looks like a kid who has been given a ball for the very first time. No doubt he should be scoring and assisting far more than he has done so far but he's night and day from what Cuadrado is. Edited August 5, 201510 yr by Chelsbear

August 5, 201510 yr I don't understand how people can watch regular football and not understand what willian does it's baffling, if he scored 10 goals on top of what he does he would be in the top 5 midfielders in the world
August 5, 201510 yr The problem with Cuadrado is that he was brought in as an improvement on Schurrle. What a cruel joke it turned out to be.

August 5, 201510 yr i'll never understand getting rid of schurrle. saying that, he wasn't a naturally right sided player. he was better suited to the left side. i just want to see traore establish himself rw as he has the potential and abilities to be a dangerous right sided player. he isn't scared to shoot, good passer, good awareness and controls a ball well. I think he could, given enough time, be a very influential player for us. Edited August 5, 201510 yr by enigma
August 5, 201510 yr Exactly. People are killing Cuadrado for no contribution yet Willian makes very little and hes praised. Its a double standard. Its not exactly a double standard as Willian contributes a lot more than Cudruado outside of just goals and assists. If Willian added goals and assists of which we expected, he would be considered World Class in my opinion. If Cudruado added goals and assists of which we expected, thats all he would contribute (such as I viewed Schurrle) and he would be near useless aside from when he score or assisted and would lose the ball the majority of the time in possession...... as things currently stand with his form. Im not writing Cudruado off yet, certainly not impressed and never wanted the transfer to start with, but to compare him to Willian because of two statistics is kind of missing the forest for the trees.
August 5, 201510 yr No he wouldn't, he would be a more consistent version of Oscar. Sorry if this comes across rude but zero clue, literally not 1. Firstly a consistent oscar would be world class in it's self secondly his busts of pace, his ability to pick the ball up deep and drive forward his tracking back....nothing like Oscar
August 5, 201510 yr to be fair to willian, being stuck out on that right wing for almost two seasons as a right footed player has hindered him from scoring more goals imo. I think if he played on that left side or central we would see him contribute a bit more. this is why i feel we should go with a front three of willian-hazard/oscar-traore/moses to make us offensively stronger .

August 5, 201510 yr So he's Ramires? You miss read where he said Willian looks like a footballer. Ramires is basically Mo Farah.

Is a high workrate what it takes to be considered top class? Because thats essentially all he contributes. Apart from a goal every 6 or 7 games, which is pretty dismal for a winger. I can understand why people rate him but for me hes the one player in our first team I would upgrade. Hed be a perfect option off the bench IMO. Drives me mad watching him do his little dance while defenders sit 3 yards off him. Sorry to hijack the thread btw

Sorry to hijack the thread btw I hate doing petty sh*t like this but if you honestly think all Willian does is run around with a high work rate, and doesnt have a huge impact on our ball retention and build up play, then I'd have to ask how many games you've watched the last 6 months or so. To me, it sounds like you're saying his just an athlete and not a footballer and, aside from Hazard, I dont think we have anyone better on the ball. edit: I dont mean to question your fandom or anything, im just trying to voice my very strong disagreement and probably doing it in poor/rude fashion. Sincere apologies if offended Edited August 5, 201510 yr by Barry Bridges
August 5, 201510 yr No offense taken. We seem to see things differently. He does a lot of running around, which isnt a bad thing. He does also keep the ball well, not a bad thing. My frustration is wtf does he do with it? The answer to that is not what we need our wingers to be doing IMO. Which is why Id change him for Sterling or any number of RWs. Fair enough if hes playing as a 10, but Id rather have Oscar there. If he put his skill on the ball to good use and created chances I would be overjoyed. I think he's probably our worst starter. Willian chances created last season- 49 Jamie Vardy chances created- 35 Sterling-78 Sami Nasri- 52

Yep better than Costa, better than Oscar better than Fabregas.

August 5, 201510 yr Yes behind Hazard. There seems to be this obsession with stats in the UK. On the continent it's nowhere near as important. We look at what the player does and how he plays within the team. If we're going by stats probably stewart downing would be a better player than Iniesta.

Plenty of useful stats out there as well as unuseful. Im not sure about the Downing bit but if you say so. I personally think he was nowhere near our 2nd best player but if we're judging subjectively then we have to agree to disagree.
