Smalling and Otamendi could be a strong pairing, depending on how Otamendi settles in. 

I don't rate Smalling at all, don't think he is good enough for a team with title aspirations.

I agree, i don't think he is a top 4 player at all. He is very lucky to have played as much as he has for United and England.

Bullsh*t, their defense isn't that bad, 4th in the league last season. Only conceded 5 more goals than us, 1 more than Arsenal, 1 less than City. Not that big of a deal.

 

They are already in great shape, their current squad is on par with ours if not better.

If it was up to me I'd cut our losses with Cuadrado and spend the money on Pedro.

Who knows though? Maybe Moses will come through or Willian will find the knack of scoring regularly. But I'm not convinced.

LOL @ "Mikel is absolute tripe." Like I always say, the best way to know whether someone knows football ask the person's opinion regarding Mikel, Muller and Busquets. The persons answer will tell you everything you need to know.

 

Yeah, difference is Muller has helped club and country to numerous cups and titles with virtually guaranteed goals, Busquets was an important of (in my opinion) the greatest club side of all time and Mikel comes on for 20 minutes to pass sideways if we're winning.

You could say the same about Bosingwa who stepped up big time especially in the absence of JT doesn't mean he was a club staple, but I agree Mikel gets too much stick, my only issue with him is he wont play the ball forward which kills the transition, I understand he comes on to shore things up but if you have the chance to put the game to bed on the break you need to take it, that cost us a lot of points in the past, not him alone but not finishing off teams and I think he adds to that problem.

A weak point it may be, but with Schwein and Shneiderlin in there... thats as solid as a 2 as you can buy.

Was pedro even a chelsea target though? If jose wanted him he would have had him im sure. Especially as fabregas is here.

I'm warming to the idea more and more to having moses, traore and cuadrado as our wide attacking options. I think, even though pedro is still a very good player, that we have made the right decision here. I don't think pedro is an upgrade on di maria, so if the latter leaves i will be surprised by utd's logic for this transfer.

But pedro would be an upgrade for us imo. For 22m it would have been a shrewd signing. I don't think we have improved in that department, which many thought was a weakness last season. Hopefully having more bodies will keep oscar and willian fresh.

Pedro isnt being bought as an upgrade. DiMaria is clearly unsettled, after that whole incident with his house being robben he clearly didnt look like himself. He was on fire for the first couple of months
