Can we keep Hazard?

Featured Replies

It's pretty obvious that Eden is on track to have his biggest season with us. this inevitably means he will attract the attention of the big two Spanish clubs. The only two clubs capable of turning his head.

Barcelona:

They have messi, Suarez and Neymar so I'm not sure they have a place for hazard unless Suarez drops to the bench and I'm not sure they'll do that. And hazard will only go there if he's guaranteed first team action. So it looks likes Barcelona is out.

Real Madrid:

They also have bale and Ronaldo on both sides, but they wouldn't hesitate to drop bale to the bench or even sell him if it means getting their new toy. For me they're the most likely team to get him and they're usually aggressive when it comes to getting players.

So what do you guys think? If Madrid come calling, can we keep him? On the other hand we might be looking at a potential world record fee for a player certainly over a 100million euro and that will be a massive profit for the club but we'd also be losing our biggest player.

Depends on many things.

However he is on a long term contract so if anyone wants him it's going to take much more than what Madrid paid for Bale to make it happen.

I reckon Real Madrid if its anyone but it would take probably a world record bid to get us to the table.

TBH, as long as Hazard continues to develop and become more prolific infront of goal from open play I'll be happy and we can worry about PSG/Real/Barca/Bayern in May 2016 and when hopefully hes got 20-25 goals and a PL and UCL medal.

I have always thought from the off that he'd end up at Madrid or Barca... moreso Madrid as his idol Zidane is a big wig there.

More recently though I have a bit more faith in him staying and I think we will have him for a season or two more, just as long as he gets a bit of protection from refs and isn't kicked up and down the pitch every week.

If we can tie him down to a bigger deal soon it may secure a potentially world breaking bid to get him.

We should make the most of it and just enjoy him playing for us whilst he is here. I am sure the lure of the big two, the weather, and the ability to run riot every week is a big temptation.

They will need big money to see him leave us,also if any player doesn't want to play for Chelsea the door is wide open.We should not allow him to turn into a Rooney and ''demand'' new contracts for the sake of staying.

If he did go to Madrid, how much would he go for though? Based on recent deals like Sterling etc, surely we could command £80-100m for him?

This is all academic of course, he isn't going anywhere.

honestly i used to think he would end up elsewhere after a couple good seasons but for some reason i get the feeling lately, especially after last season that he might stay year for many more years yet. the project we have at the moment is exciting with our young team, best manager in the world..new stadium around the corner. combined with the fact that if he ever wanted to leave it would never be for money as we can pay him whatever he wants

not to mention id bet my house if someone did want him, it would break the transfer record

If I were Greg Dyke or a Premier League exec I'd be having a quiet word to Chelsea to ensure they don't consider a bid. if Hazard were to follow Bale/Suarez and leave England it would likely permanently relegate the EPL to second-tier status relative to Spain

The way the market is, you'd definitely be talking world record territory to get Hazard. That's obvious. You could see Real Madrid sniffing more than anyone, but I wonder if Mourinho's acrimonious relationship with the Real hierarchy might scupper any chance of that.

I reckon you'll keep him for the foreseeable.

It's already behind Spain. Besides we've lost Ronaldo, bale, Suarez etc and the league is still popular and making even more money than la liga.

I think if he wants to leave there's nothing mourinho could do to stop it. Unfortunately the players have all the power now. I also wonder how much the club will resist if a huge offer came in for him, especially now that we're rebuilding Stamford bridge.

Didn't he just sign a five year deal to become our highest paid player? I honestly don't see him going anywhere for the foreseeable future. The big two in Spain seem pretty settled at the moment with their respective teams. Madrid might come but Eden hasn't made any noise indicating he has any interest in moving on at all.

I think Real are the ones to watch in 2/3 seasons. Ronaldo will most likely have gone by then and they will have a spot open for the next superstar. Barca on the other hand look absolutely set with the Neymar-Suarez-Messi triumvirate for years to come.

Naw PSG is a step down. Eden has more ambition than that (and this is coming from someone who things PSG is already a powerhouse; it's just the league is not at the same level).

After Ronaldo leaves Madrid might take a stab at Eden but that is further down the road. I'm taking a "let's enjoy the moment" kind of mentality to the whole thing. Hell he might pick up a career ending injury this season, no point in worrying about things outside of our control.

The only thing we have going in our favour is we are a club who consistently challenges for things.. Those clubs wernt

Didn't Hazard say only a couple of months ago that he wants to stay for a long time ? Maybe Hazard isn't like your Bale's and Ronaldo's. Maybe Chelsea is the club where he wants to play the majority of his career. I hope he is another of those big name players we have had over the years that decides to stay at the club for a long time.

when his kids start going to school here that'll be when it really starts to kick in and will make him want to stay

when he was getting linked with psg didn't he say something along the lines that while psg were a good club in a good city, he's already "been there and done that" in regards to ligue 1?

there are only 2 clubs in the world that would not only have the money - but the appeal to take him from us but with every new interview he gives you can clearly see he absolutely loves it here. he's getting a team built around him, a near infinite wage, living in the greatest city in the world, trophy after trophy and with his kids only a few years away from schooling age, perhaps even in a family sense it all leads to staying here for the long run

as far as the premier league is concerned, well he's the face of it now, la liga - and as a matter of a fact - every other league will never catch up to the premier league in a commercial sense but with every big star that leaves it it's like 1 stepforward, 2 steps back.

the premier league centered a lot of its foreign marketing around ronaldo when it was here, and then bale...then suarez. now it'll be eden

In my opinion, he would suit Barcelona perfectly. However, they won't be replacing that front three any time soon. I would like to see hazard lift the CL before ever leaving though.

If he continues to work under Jose, and continues to win things, I don't think he'll be in a rush to leave.

What could make him leave: instability at the club and a revolving door of managers; we stop winning; he wants a new challenge.

I think if he were to go anywhere it would be to Real Madrid, and I think it would be silly money that they'd have to offer to get him.  Suarez and Sterling 50-60 Million, I think he's in a range ven more that that

At the end of the day, if he wants to go and a big money offer came in, we'd probably take it.

I must admit I used to think he'd move on eventually when Real came calling, but after his interview recently saying he thought it was important to stay at a club for a long time, enjoying life in London and at Chelsea, I'm quite confident he could stay here for the rest of his career if we continue to be successful over the next decade as we were for the last.

Did Jose not mention something lately about him being a leader & having captain qualities? Don't be surprised to see him given the armband in the future.

He's one of our own!!
