August 12, 20169 yr Bertrand Traore has signed a new three-year contract with Chelsea. The 20-year-old will now join Ajax on loan for the 2016/17 campaign as he continues his development. The Burkina Faso international forward has signed a new deal until 2019 having made his Chelsea debut last season, netting his first goal against MK Dons in the FA Cup in January and becoming the first Burkinabe to score in the Premier League the following week in our win over Newcastle. Traore ended last season with four goals in 16 appearances and will now experience regular first-team games at Ajax, who next week begin their Champions League campaign. He previously impressed during loan spells with Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands and returns to the Eredivisie with one of the country’s biggest clubs. Also heading to the Netherlands is Danilo Pantic, who has side joined Excelsior on loan for the coming campaign. The 19-year-old Serbian midfielder joined Chelsea last summer, spending that season with Vitesse Arnhem.
August 12, 20169 yr loan him and then buy another striker? all that while without european football.. fantastic....
August 12, 20169 yr We played Traore a bit. In the second half of the season Traore played 450 minutes out of a possible 2250 minutes. We didn't even give him 90 minutes in the FA Cup, where he scored 2 goals in 57 minutes. Overall he started 4 games (1 goal, 1 assist) out of possible 53, was never played a full 90 minutes. Loftus Cheek had it a bit better - 7 odd starts and 687 minutes across the season. Overall both Traore and RLC had peanuts. Brilliantly put.
August 12, 20169 yr Conte today called him a great prospect that needs to play every game. He obviously couldn't assure him that if he stayed at Chelsea. It is frustrating for sure, but I think it also points that we are going with one striker and one striker only (surely we will switch formations as needed, but in the main I think we will see us start with one)
August 12, 20169 yr They still had more than any youngsters got previously, it was an improvement. Remember finishing in a European place was still a realistic goal up until the final 4 or 5 games. "Realistic goal"? It was a pipe dream the way we were playing. It was as realistic for us as for everton. we finished 10th, 4 spots lower than a European spot. That should be an indicator. No chelsea team in the roman era finished mid table. So asking for youth players to be a MASSIVE part in the latter part of the season is hardly much to ask for. Guss screwed up. And looking at the way we are dealing with traore, i doubt these "youth" players are even part of the plan of our board.

Like it or not Europe was in our hands and with the squad we had it was an achievable goal.
August 12, 20169 yr Europe was a pipe dream. We had a pretty good second half of the season and still finished 13 pts off of Europe.
August 12, 20169 yr Europe was a pipe dream. We had a pretty good second half of the season and still finished 13 pts off of Europe. We were 4 results (12 points) away from European football. That isn't a pipe dream Jon.
August 12, 20169 yr New deal signed and the lads off to have a blinder of a season. He's committed to a new deal which tells me he has a future at our club. Chillout chaps, I doubt last season was the last we will see of him in a blues shirt. I reckon this season will be Costas last which could pave the way for bats and traore . . Lets hope bats does the business this season.
August 12, 20169 yr He knows the Dutch league, I expect from him to continue his goalscoring form there. I hoped to see him here, but Conte wants him to play, I agree with that statement, he has to play. He has to continue on working for his name, good luck to him! By the way, is Ajax in the CL?
August 12, 20169 yr Like it or not Europe was in our hands and with the squad we had it was an achievable goal.13 points. That's 5 results. And u think that's not a pipe dream? We won 12 games all season long. In 38 games, we won 12. To get those 13 points we basically needed another 12/13 games. I guess by "realistic" u mean it was mathematically possible. Nothing else. We were as far away from Europe as Aston villa were from not getting relegated. Both things might have happened with just 4/5 games to go but it was common knowledge pretty soon
August 12, 20169 yr No it wasn't a pipe dream because we had a squad well capable of making those points up.
August 12, 20169 yr Anyone else find it interesting that we're loaning players to Dutch clubs other than Viteese? PSV got van Ginkle last year and now Ajax have Traore. Have we soured a little on our relationship with Viteese?
August 12, 20169 yr I wondered why Traore looked so unhappy during the Real match, perhaps he knew he was going out on loan. Good prospect.
August 13, 20169 yr We were 4 results (12 points) away from European football. That isn't a pipe dream Jon. 12 points only if we have a superior GD. West Ham ended at +14, we ended at +6. That means not only getting back 12 pts but also winning those game by 2+ goals. So 13 pts was correct.
August 13, 20169 yr Anyone else find it interesting that we're loaning players to Dutch clubs other than Viteese? PSV got van Ginkle last year and now Ajax have Traore. Have we soured a little on our relationship with Viteese? It's a good league to learn and grow in and Viteese can only take so many loaners from us. I understand there's been some hard feeling between Dutch clubs about our influence at Vitesse so maybe were just spreading the talent around?

Have we soured a little on our relationship with Viteese? wish we would make more deals with spanish clubs tbh with you. spain is arguably the best league in europe, and the lower teams struggle with finances and bringing players in, so giving them a helping hand by loaning out our best youngsters (like with musonda) i think would benefit both parties.
August 13, 20169 yr I think Ajax are in the champions league so that will do him good if he plays. But it is a shame because he was the only good thing from last season.
August 13, 20169 yr No it wasn't a pipe dream because we had a squad well capable of making those points up. Yes. and clearly we were very close. We has the "names" to make up those points. Not a managers, nor the will nor the players' heart. 13 points in a season where the overall points tally was 50 (one-fourth). Edited August 13, 20169 yr by didierforever
August 13, 20169 yr I think Ajax are in the champions league so that will do him good if he plays. But it is a shame because he was the only good thing from last season. Ajax just scraped into the final qualifying round, where they will face Rostov. Ajax always seem to struggle against sides they should beat comfortably :-)
August 16, 20169 yr Starts for Ajax against Roston in the CL. Plays as striker, let's hope he will do the job.
August 24, 20169 yr Traore starts today vs Rostov. Third game in a row, yet to score, not sure how well he;s been doing. Stats suggest not too well...
