April 8, 20179 yr Two silky goals from Traore today. He makes it look so effortless... And a short recap since the last post in this topic: Goal vs Alkmaar 5.04.2017 Starts the move with a dribble to finish it via tap in: vs Copenhagen 15.03.2017: Heracles 26.02.2017: Simple tap in, but finishes it with class.
April 9, 20179 yr He was impressive last season, we could have saved 30 million and kept a proper back up striker to Diego, silly decision. Can you believe Ajax fans booed this kid, must hold a grudge against him for being a loanee, or their just sh*t fans.
April 10, 20179 yr Is he playing as a lone striker again or back out on wing? Seems like for us he'd be more suited to being one of the inside forwards. Hope he comes back with us - but will be tough, particular if someone like Sanchez comes.

April 10, 20179 yr Ajax fans (and fans of the league) on twitter all don't rate him, reading some of their tweets and he must be like a new Torres. I've always liked the little I have seen, surely he'll end up at Everton on loan next season?
April 10, 20179 yr We have to keep him, he was good for us and maybe this season wasn't best for him but he still scores goals and gets credit by Ajax's manager. Next season we're going to play in 4 competitions and he is going to have his chance, we should play him and use him next season.
April 10, 20179 yr Funny how at the start of the season everyone was saying he'll never amount to anything and should be sold. All of a sudden he adapts to the league and bangs some goals in and everyone 'saw' his class and want him in the team.

Started the season playing upfront as a lone striker but struggled apparently and looked pretty poor which got the backs up of some Ajax fans apparently as he looked a bit disinterested. Switched to the right wing and started to find some form, scored a couple of goals and performances generally improved. Since the African Nations I think he's been getting games up front again and managed a few more goals. It's been a sold if unspectacular season for him from what I have read.

Maybe that's the case with some, but I've always rated him and I complained the moment we loaned him out.

He always looked to have something about him and spending near £30 million on a player who doesn't play made little sense when having Traore here.
April 10, 20179 yr Like many of our younger players, Traore has looked decent enough but I'm not totally convinced he will make it with us. We don't have a great track record with youngsters although I'm hoping (and there are signs) that they may change under Conte. I'm not even sure what Traore's best or favoured position is, or where Conte sees him playing but look at the competition. Before we make another signing there is Batshuayi, RLC (who Conte does seem to like playing in an advanced role), Abraham, Brown and Solanke (likely to leave). And we wouldn't lose any of the others to the ACN every two years.
April 10, 20179 yr He's not rated at all by most who watch the Eredivisie when he's deployed as a winger. Doesn't score/assist much, loses a lot of posession etc. At the moment their number 1 striker (Dolberg) is injured and Traore is starting as a striker which suits him a lot better. He needs to improve his finishing but I think there's potential for him as a striker.

Bertrand does not even seem like a favorite in his league while Michy was well respected in the Marsielle and did well for them. I think it will be a step down, but then again we dont know what Contes plans are.
April 20, 20179 yr Bertrand Traore is a bit lacksaidasical. Reminds me of Mikel in that regard. He's not explosive, just more low key. I think fans failed to notice his strengths, while focused on his laid back manner (which can even be seen in the way he scores goals or dribbles - he doesn't do it at pace). The Ajax coach must rate him, because he's a starter. And he must be doing something right because Whoscored have him as the 9th best player in the league and 10th best player in the Europa League. That said he's key pass rate is way beyond what Hakim Ziyech's is and he has yet to assist in the Eredivisie. That is surprising, because Traore's main attribute always seemed to be passing... All in all I think its a mixed bag - not as critical to his team as he was during his last loan to the Eredivisie. But you always need to take into account the context of a loan - you are always easier to drop if you don't perform and given how often Traore starts the coach obviously thinks he is performing. April 20, 20179 yr I did look up the Ajax forum though and they are seeming to have really warmed to him, preferring him over Dolberg and calling him a 'phenom'.

I have quite a few friends who support Ajax but all of them rate Dolberg much higher. Which is also because they know Traore will be gone next year and Dolberg is their own player.

A lot of praise like the best dribbler in the league and the best technician. Issues with finishing and making right decisions, but his technique stands out. http://ajax.netwerk.to/forums/index.php? BTW Nice collection of dribbles and skills. Some are really staggering:
