Decent going forward today, but defensively we look worse than i can ever remember us being. This is worse than how we defended under Scolari and AVB, no wonder why we are so desperate to bring in Stones.

 

Ivanovic needs to be dropped for me, every game he is getting hammered at RB, the opposition are taking complete advantage of it. Terry hasn't started the season well, i don't think he is passed it yet though, he's just lost a bit of form for the first time in years. Zouma and Azpilcueta were very good again today, i think Zouma deserves to keep his spot right now.

 

Fabregas playing deep isn't working anymore, he is constantly getting caught out and is lossing the ball too much, with Matic not being at his best it's making it even harder for Fabregas.

 

Hazard looks a bit off his game too which is worrying, he's not threatning enough and his shooting is erratic. He tends to start seasons slow though so maybe this explains why he is playing like this right now.

 

Pedro was fantastic, what a signing. Works hard, scores, assists, play's intelligent passes. Without him today, we wouldn't have won the game.

 

Costa looked better today i thought, he held up the ball well and was dangerous. Finishing could be better at times but he's slowly getting there.

 

Important 3 points today, hopefully things get easier.

Some positives to be drawn from this, Pedro was class and looks like he'll work hard with it, 3 points and worse scenario is we're only five off top spot.

Defense needs sorting and with Matic not quite on it the Fabregas/Matic pairing exagerates the defensive woes.

Will we see the new LB come in while JT is suspended and a move for Ivan to CB? still leaves the CB pairing a bit short on pace but with a quick wingback either side...

I'd imagine it will be the back 4 that finished the game. In all honesty though, ivanovic is really struggling, i'd love to see rahman come in, especially as palace have Zaha and bolasie, who I will give ivanovic problems again next week.

Well you can't say our games haven't been interesting.

Rondon is a very good player and a very good buy. It was smart of him to go down, but I wouldn't have given the foul because in that scenario it HAS to be a red and since he dove, I wouldn't have called it.

Willian needs to be coming on the pitch when we're winning games so that Oscar can play centrally and finish things and pass the ball better. Today you all saw what a winger with end product can do, unlike Willian.

 

Terry hadn't been good the first two games, but I thought he was good today until the foul which will not help him gain favor with Mourinho considering how awesome and in control Zouma was today. I'm not a big Cahill fan, but Cahill was very good once substituted on.

 

Fabregas needs to sort his sh*t out. A lot of people have been criticizing Matic, but other than the stupid decision on the penalty, I thought he's been good for the three games.
