Marin was never going to challenge for a spot when the Three Amigos were still intact, hell, Moses had better showings that he did when given the chance. Bad buy by Di Matteo, one of the few mistakes that he made. Dont mind that hes out on loan, plus, contract should be coming to a close soon. Would love to see Kalas and Christiensen make good strides this year though.

Past performance suggests not a single loanee (above) will make the first team ... ?

Courtois did, Sturridge and Lukaku would have if they weren't so impatient.

I can see at least 4-5 who I reckon have a good chance.

How's Christensen fairing these days? He was suppose to be our Terry replacement and he seemed to have fallen off the pecking order. If he can bring in the performances, I don't understand why we don't start using him alongside Zouma from time to time.

Christensen, Van Ginkel and Solanke have the best chances IMO. If Van Ginkel turns in a quality season at Stoke I think hes in the team next season no doubt.

Pretty sad for Van Ginkel, he was going to be a starter for us before that horrible injury. I'm happy that he's recovering and he seemed to play really well last year.

What's Lucas Piazon up to these days?

Still at the club apparently - perhaps because the futures of Willian and Oscar are in doubt due to the Pogba deal, but who knows... looks like he may be sent to Reading on loan before the transfer deadline.

Not the greatest of starts for Christensen... he made his full Bundesliga debut in the 4-0 defeat by Dortmund, dropped to the bench for Mainz. Still early days though.

Reus and Auba did him dirty first match of the season, and he was dropped against Mainz.

Although Favre said he sees potential in him. Hopefully Christensen bounces back even stronger.

Wouldn't rule out Pasalic played well in la liga last year and has played well for Monaco so far another good season and he has to be sniffing about the bench, looks a bit Ballack-esque when I've seen him play.
also MvG has all the ability to make it, it looks like he's going to be a first team regular at Stoke and that should hopefully build his physicality up as well.

Van Ginkel has potential, he's just been unlucky with that long spell out with injury. If we got rid of Mikel and probably Ramires over the next year, I'd be happy with Van Ginkel taking one of those spots in the squad.
