I dunno Barry, he clearly isnt out of his depth when talking about vaginas, mainly because hes obviously a massive c**t.

After reading through this thread unlss you were born within 12 centimetres of Stamford bridge you should be ashamed and embarrassed. Or something.

You forgot magic vaginas, that's actually my favourite bit

First game I've been to for the year.

Pros. Happy to get the win, it's gotta start somewhere! Glad to see William getting a few nods. I remember when he killed us for Shaktar and today he was the man. Raman was good defensively but have it away going forward.. Refs were very lenient on villa

Cons. Why fabregas thinks he's above the law I don't know, always the one having private words with the ref just wish he'd get on with it. from my view, Costa played for that penalty in the first half. Pedro is in all sorts attacking wise. I think mourinho tried to get RLC to play a little differently than usual and he didn't look like himself at times, in weird positions on the ground

Still Improvements needed

Up the blues

Not a great performance but the most important thing today was the three points. I thought RLC looked good in that first half and was disappointed that he was withdrawn at half time. Baba looked shaky in that first half but settled after the break. I hope he is given more time and hopefully his confidence will grow. Costa worked so hard and was pleased he got on the score sheet. Dave was his usual steady self but Willian was man of the match for me. Fabregas, apart from the pass to Costa for the second, was again, well below standard. Still a lot of work to do to improve this team but nice to enjoy the weekend for once.

That was a relief....

After the first goal, we looked very comfortable (not good, but solid).

First game in a while I didn't leave me wanting to tear my hair out in the closing stages.

Not great goals, but a clean sheet is nice.

Not a great win, but a win nevertheless which I hope from the bottom of my heart will give rise to more.

We need a big shot of confidence and can only hope this will be the start.

Willian for me was key to the match. Very hard working.

Baba did enough in h2 to give him another game He seems to be under instruction in h2 not to bomb forward.

Rlc did ok I thought I certainly liked the energy level

We still aren't creating much I the attacking third.

Well we won and that's what matters, need to distance ourselves from the relegation bunch and then maybe we can start whispering about finishing in the top ten!

Saw something that said Costa spent the entire international break working on his fitness and that showed for me, looked a lot sharper and the way he brought the ball down and turned to shoot for the second goal was brilliant, compared to the game against Arsenal where he didn't look great and probably wouldn't have brought it down as well

I can't believe we were on so late on MOTD

Anyway watching the highlights you could see that there was almost zero confidence in the first half but getting the goal helped. Costa was a beast and he's the reason we won this one.

Fabregas may be a type of luxury player but he does deliver those passes that catch out other teams and that's why he's keeping his place. Apart from a lack of form (or whatever) Hazard would not be the person to rely on to protect Baba in his first full PL outing.

Now if we get some of the out of form players to make the same step up that Diego has then we'll be on our way.

sure thinking positive is cool but to suggest anything that all is well based on this game is really naive.. at best, it's 0-0 draw and that's what would have likely to happen had it not be for that lucky break because we didn't look like scoring at all.. defensively solid? a lil bit solid but that also thanks a lot to villa abysmal performance.. The only positive things are we didn't make blunder and seems like ladyluck on our side..

As long as we still don't look like scoring for most part of the game then no, we're not yet back..

WE aren't yet back to our best no-one is deluded enough to think that but it's a start a lot of people were crying out for defensive solidity and that's what we got.

We also saw a high press which is another thing people have been wanting and with such a high press we forced the opposition into mistakes and high up the field, clearly showing a good tactical set up.

Yes we weren't at our best in the attacking third but we never had to chase the game and we were never forced to look for goals. This was the kind of performance I had been asking for all season. For me it looked like we were trying so hard to score with a team lacking form that we were leaving so much space for teams to counter, and a more defensively solid system where we throw less men forward was what we needed to make sure this didn't happen. That's what we got today and we got a comfortable win, which was exactly what we needed.

Watched the game on pvr late last night, had time to reflect on what I saw.

Firstly up until our goal it seemed fairly even, Villa the only ones to get an effort on target. Not sure how it would have gone down had guzan not messed up his kick.

After Costa turn and cross own goal thought we showed a bit more confidence and Villa sank without trace. They are in a fair bit of trouble, they offered no support to their striker and kept giving the ball away out of defence.

For us cannot say any of the defence impressed, Dave was probably 60/40 on his duals on the right, jt and zouma just had to win headers, which they mostly did, baba looked poor for me. Gave the ball away most of the time he got it, brushed off it by Hutton more than once.

One for Jose to say "see, this is why he is not ready".

Midfield was better, not great but better. Thought rlc showed great energy, and when I saw matic coming on I assumed the foul machine, aka ramires was going off. Ramires was poor first half but much improved with matic behind him.

Matic did OK, won most of his duels I think. Cesc had a decent game, good passing overall. Willian and Pedro worked very hard, need more end product.

Costa I personally thought was average. His header miss was awful. He could and should have bagged a hattrick. Looked fitter yes, but not sharper.

Great to get a win and the team overall impressed with a high work rate. We still have a lot of improvement needed.

Hardly surprising. It's something that we as fans are used to seeing.
