I don’t know about that, I think EPL style is much rougher than any other leagues, and, therefore, play flows much more. He shouldn’t face so much problems with that.

I could understand the logic of going after Vidal 3-4 years ago when he was in his prime. Why are we looking to sign him now, especially at prices quoted is beyond me. If it's true, of course.

The temperament issues already covered in the thread so I wouldn't bother repeating. Top player when he's in form, a battler and has leadership qualities, but clearly past it. Bayern are getting young talent in Goretzka on a free so they are ready to dump over the hill Chilean while saving on his wages and squeezing big money out of the buying club. I could understand picking someone like that on a free and a short term contract, but not for a huge fee.

Price seems strange but would love the player. 

Love the player but the man needs rehab from alcoholism if he's going to play for us.

Don't want off-field issues plaguing our players.

Personally would like it more if the club goes after younger talents. 26 or below if we're looking for WC targets.

That's the thing for me, even if that wasn't true. English papers woulf circle around any rumour if it's for a player of one of the big clubs.

My sources are very reliable; I’ve this very close friend (well not really a friend, he’s just a bald ass) whose girlfriend happens to work at that casino, and she’s privately reported every situation where Vidal’s been involved only to see him on the news one or two days afterwards apologizing and crying in front of the TV. My point is, this is big, mate. Just wait for Vidal to get to London to start ruining Chelsea.

Not disreputing your sources, my point was any sliver of bad news in England by footballers is sensationalized.

I’d definitely take Vidal! Great footballer, he bosses the midfield. Don’t care about his age, we definitely need an all rounder midfielder which Bakayoko was supposed to be.

A few years too late, I think.

For a player who turns 31 in May, doesn't make any sense to pay the 30-40m or whatever it is being mentioned, especially as the physical side is a big part of Vidal's game.

This would be the sort of stupid signing a club makes when they give the power to the manager/coach and one i've feared happening since Emenalo left.

Your rent-a-quote pundits and fans that are stuck in the 90's would be delighted but it's short-sighted and doomed to at the very best be not disastrous but in most cases will turn out terribly.

Bayern signing Goretzka and letting Vidal go is similar to a few years ago where thy signed Thiago and let Schweinsteiger go, we all know how that story panned out.

In modern football, you simply can't give the most important club decisions worth millions and millions of pounds to an employee who is only interested in the here and now because it's what they will be judged on. The only time we have done that in the last 10 years was in Mourinho's second stint and it cost us de Bruyne, Salah and Lukaku.

I hope the club have more sense and balls than to give Conte what he wants, because what he wants and what we need are two completely different perspectives.

If we want to be getting to the level of clubs like Bayern, we should be looking at the kind of players they are interested in. Not taking their hand-me-downs when they're finished with them.

Not entirely for signing Vidal because of his age but I don't think the up and coming generation hold a candle to the likes of Vidal - if we can get him for £20 mill or so would be a quality signing imho.

As others have said, the price does seem very high for a soon to be 31 year old. Maybe the club are doing it to appease Conte and convince him to stay. 

Few years ago I’d be buzzing with this, not anymore. Too old, too expensive, would spend the end for RLC career at Chelsea as well IMO now we have Cesc, Kante, Drinkwater, Barkley & Bakayoko to play central roles.

Bayern apparently saying CFC have not made an approach and even if they did he is not leaving in January....................fake news?

I like him at 20, any more and not worth it. No resale value. Imo we need 5 midfielders for our squad. Kante, cesc, fabregas and Drinkwater deserver their spots, unless we can bring in a game changer like Veratti i'd just bring back RLC and be do ne with it.

Vidal is clearly better than Drinkwater RLC Bakayoko trio even if he is 45 y o
