Candreva

Featured Replies

Candreva is not a wing-back, he is a winger, but not a good one.
I don`t know why we would want average level winger. If we go for a winger, let be world class.

I doubt if Conte have the money, this would be his first choice.

But i don`t expect much from this board anymore.
We sold Oscar and Matic for a sum of 100m. pounds, and we get Bakayoko and probably Drinkwater .....

Maybe Bakayoko will be slightly improvement, but our mid center was bad and we big improvement, and we get Drinkwater ....

Moses was not a wing back, he was a winger. How did that turn out? Candreva will play WB

At 30 he'll need an oxygen tent to do it...

I know a bullsh*t comment when I see when, congratulations sir. Like being 30 is the new 80, Mo Farah and Usain Bolt are both in their thirties, yet they seem to be running an awful lot. If he takes care of himself he can manage to run down the flank for at least 70min/match. If Conte wants him, which might be the case due to their Italy time together with Conte knowing what he is worth, he is not bringing in some inferior player.

yeah early 30's in modern football isn't old any more. don't get me wrong, he'll probably sign a 2-3 year contract with us anyway as a stop gap. i guess it depend on if we sign chamberlain or not.

There's no way this board will or should sign a 30 year old winger...we hardly give more than a 1 year contract extension for an over 30...IMO it would be dead money if we got him...especially for someone who relies on pace...

He'd certainly be bought for RWB, as that's the position he played for Italy at the euros, at least in the 3-5-2, which arguably requires a slightly more offensive bias from the WBs than 3-4-3

Candreva played wingback for conte at the euros. and actually played both lwb and rwb in the tournament. He is obviously a winger but can do the job with Contes tactical assistance, just like Moses

Admittedly the fee is a bit big, I'd have valued him more around 25-30m, but I still don't think this signing is as bad as everyone is making it out to be.  He's going to provide cover in a few positions, and those types of players are crucial in a season where we are going to be playing a lot more games.

Anyone who decides they dont want us to sign a player because they are 30 is an idiot.

Seen several links that it will actually go through as Conte wants him and Inter is willing to sell. I would probably take him but at the age of 30 and hardly any improvement as a player i don't see it. We have Hazard, Willian, Pedro, Musonda and maybe even Boga if he stays. We are hardly struggling on the wings, maybe Conte thinks he can do a job at wing back?

U beat me to it mate, if Moses can turn out how he did, i think candreva can be better, if not at least worthy competition for that spot.

Im 31, no pro footballer, but still like to think i have my best days ahead of me.

A lot of athletes out there go well into there 30's. Giggs was still playing at 40 at the top level.

We have the perfect example in Pedro from last season, who`s 30, and a winger, and did well.

We bought zola at 31 in a time when player fitness was nowhere near as good as it is now. 30 means nothing to a top level footballer, I dont see why so many people seem so hung up about it.

I`m 43 and getting better and fitter every day by the way.......on FIFA.

My concern is that he doesn't seem to be particularly highly rated at Inter, so is he really going to be an upgrade or just another option?

Thanks but it wasn't just his age but the fact that Inter were happy to let him go...and £35m for him is obscene...I'd prefer to try one of own then pour good money down the drain...

What puzzles me is they are willing to sell so they can bring in keita balde, why don't we just buy keita balde a top tallent, young, pacey as you like, powerful, rather than buy an aging average winger so they can upgrade.

That's what I said but got shot down by a poster...
