February 25, 201610 yr let's hope so, i think it would be an exciting appointment and something different. hopefully he does well and we stick by him for many years to come. he is only early 40's i believe and has managed in italy and the national team, so maybe his next job he would like to commit to as long term. also, his wife is quite sexy too damn son, those "come to bed" eyes lol Edited February 25, 201610 yr by enigma

February 25, 201610 yr Stick by him for many years? Ahhahahahhahaahaha Surely you're joking. He'll get 3 seasons tops.
February 25, 201610 yr Stick by him for many years? Ahhahahahhahaahaha Surely you're joking. He'll get 3 seasons tops. Only if he's crap. The Ancelotti sacking was a mistake, every other was justified.
February 25, 201610 yr Only if he's crap. The Ancelotti sacking was a mistake, every other was justified. So the last manager who wasn't crap was Claudio?
February 25, 201610 yr So the last manager who wasn't crap was Claudio? All the sackings bar Ancelotti were justified by the teams performances.
February 26, 201610 yr The big plus over a lot of managers is he has the Kudos of once being a very good player, just like Carlo, this must earn respect from players, because they know he/they could walk the walk... Edited February 26, 201610 yr by Ballack & Blu
February 26, 201610 yr 3-5-2? If it works, then great. So sick of 4-2-3-1 Conte isn't the kind of manager who has a formation and will force the players into playing the formation he wants (LVG). He'll see what we have and play whatever formation suits so its very unlikely we'll end up using the 3-5-2 with our CB options. 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 are the most likely.

I'm not saying you're wrong but if we went with 352 we'd need two more centre-halves wouldn't we? If we go 433, we still need two centre-halves don't we because JT is possibly leaving and Zouma might be out until after the season starts? In either 433 or 352 I reckon we also need two midfielder as well as one striker. As it stands, I'm not sure what he'll do because I think we need reinforcements whatever happens, but what I think (and hope) he might do is be flexible and use both and maybe even 442.
February 26, 201610 yr Looks like he does .... Nevermind. Just realized we won't have any british players who'll start for the team next season anyway. And for the communication with other staff his english is probably good enough.
February 26, 201610 yr 3-5-2 would seriously excite me, something different for a change, and a good opportunity to field Traore alongside Costa up front. We would need to sign two centre halves, but we really need to sign at least one anyway. I'd like to see JT stay as the middle centre back if possible and have Zouma and Christensen alongside him, since as far as I know they're both pretty pacy, it would be similar to Barzagli (slow) Bonucci(quick) and Chiellini(quick). Very interested to see what happens if we do get Conte, who we might sign, who'll be shown the door etc. Thumbs up for him from me.
February 26, 201610 yr I'd love a return of a traditional 442, its been working wonders for Watford this term.
February 26, 201610 yr I'd love a return of a traditional 442, its been working wonders for Watford this term. sh*t, is that how far we've fallen in just a season? We're now aspiring to be like Watford.
February 26, 201610 yr From a playing perspective Conte is certainly fascinating. A reputation for primarily using a 3-5-2 is largely founded in his success at Juventus. However, Conte used around six formations while at I Bianconeri. The variety in his approach and flexibility are hallmarks of a manager who crafts a system to suit his players. While he generally settled on a 3-5-2 Conte has used played a 4-2-4, 4-3-3, 4-1-4-1, 3-3-4 and variations of 5-3-2 in the past. Very good article about Conte: http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/features/2016/2/25/11116880/antonio-conte-chelsea-profile
February 26, 201610 yr I'd love a return of a traditional 442, its been working wonders for Watford this term. We reached this situation gradually, putting in two attacking wide men and two strikers. You know this is a style of football that I like. I used it at Bari and Siena, winning the Serie B titles. I wanted to do it at Juventus too, but didn’t have the players suited to this tactic. He likes 442.
February 26, 201610 yr sh*t, is that how far we've fallen in just a season? We're now aspiring to be like Watford. To be fair you could cross out Watford and put Atletico in that sentence, although Simeone's 4-4-2 isn't really a great deal like the one Conte favours.
February 26, 201610 yr Chelsea with Italian managers have won literally everything going over the last 20 years. Gianluca Vialli FA Cup: 1999–2000 League Cup: 1997–98UEFA Cup Winners' Cup: 1997–98UEFA Super Cup: 1998 Carlo Ancelotti Premier League: 2009–10 FA Cup: 2009–10 Roberto Di Matteo FA Cup: 2011–12UEFA Champions League: 2011–12
February 26, 201610 yr sh*t, is that how far we've fallen in just a season? We're now aspiring to be like Watford. I wasn't aspiring to be like Watford. More making the point of if the formation can help a team like Watford reach the top end of the table imagine what it could do for a team that should already be at the top.
February 27, 201610 yr Definitely would be intrigued to see conte mix up the formation. 4-2-3-1 is the norm now and has gone a bit stale for us. I personally cant see a 3-5-2. A 4-3-3 has to be the favourite and the easiest transformation. The defence requires some tweaks, ivan moves to cb, rahman and azpi start. In midfield we need a top box to box midfielder, maybe vidal or nainggolan, this would alleviate some of the pressure on matic and hopefully bring out the best in him, we play 3 up top and give the wide men more licence to attack. The team would set up like this; -------------------Courtois Dave---------ivan--------zouma--------baba ---------------------matic -------------Fabregas-------vidal --Willian-----------costa----------hazard- Bench Begovic Cahill Terry Mikel Loftus cheek Kennedy Oscar Pedro Traore Pato
February 27, 201610 yr I'm all for Conte if he can fix our central midfield and defence. Our attack is fine with Hazard, Pedro, Willian, Costa and Traore, atleast if we can add some goal threat from central midfield with 1-2 new top box to box midfielders. Ideally I want us to keep Fabregas, Matic, RLC and add a couple of new box to box midfielders for a 4-3-3 formation. We already sold one box to box midfielder in Ramires and I don't think we need more then one DM (Matic), if we find some versatile box to box midfielders like Vidal etc. Oscar would also be surplus and I don't think he will ever improve his inconsistency. Our defence also need alot of improvement. I expect Terry will not get a new contract, although I would prefer to keep him around for another year. Baba is just not good enough, we already sold better players in Bertrand and F.Luis. Ivanovic don't have the legs to keep up with pacy wingers, so we are only left with Azpilicueta as a good L/R back option. Cahill have struggled as well and the only reason I want to keep him around is our lack of homegrown players. We need atleast one quality L/R back and central defender for next season.

Baba made a mistake today dude - I think it is harsh to say that he is not good enough or will not improve. Also Kennedy when he slotted into that position for Baba also looked decent. Also, I personally like Kennedy's physical presence. I will not spend money on LB/RB. Also, Will be interesting to see if we can get Christensen or Ake ushered into our defense.
