May 10, 201610 yr Really? 101 in 190 for Real Madrid 68 in 105 for Napoli... His record in the big games is pretty poor. Edited May 10, 201610 yr by Chelsbear
May 10, 201610 yr £23 million is around 29 million euros, and that is supposedly including add ons - so roma are asking for £32 million (nearly 40 mil euros). I would say what we've offered + add ons seems fair considering his age, but understandably roma aren't going to accept less for one of the best players. Edited May 10, 201610 yr by enigma
May 10, 201610 yr His record in the big games is pretty poor. Tbf top players aren't always that effective in the big games. It's usually others around them take Thierry Henry or Alan Shearer for example they didn't deliver in cup finals.

Costa is a far better option and if we replaced with Higuain we would be going down a level IMO. If we want a player to score goals regularly against the lesser teams we can pay a lot less than the money we would be paying to take him from Italy. Edited May 10, 201610 yr by Chelsbear
May 10, 201610 yr Not a fan of Higuain, Great finisher no doubt but doesn't really offer anything else.

Good point, I'd be all for signing him but not at Costa's and expense.

May 10, 201610 yr I agree with your sentiment about Costa. I disgaree that Higuain is on the same level as Giroud, he is miles better. He broke the Serie A goalscoring record... As impressive as that sounds Seria A is very poor these days. It's not even close to the same level it was 5-10 years back which is a shame really as it used to be a great league to follow. Higuain is a goal scorer but technically he's not very good. He doesn't get stuck in and if he's not scoring he has zero impact on a game. As a back up or partner to Costa I'd take him but not for the fee's being mentioned. There is far better value for money out there
May 10, 201610 yr Griezmann or Higuain? No brainer. Push the boat out for Griezmann asap. If only it was that easy. Greizmann is one of Europe's best forward players, he would be on every top clubs radar so I can't imagine us standing much of a chance. Atletico are also ahead of us in many ways just now so I don't see them selling if they don't need to.
May 10, 201610 yr I never said we would get him but for the money being rumoured, test the waters. 50m bid and he solves so many problems up front instantly. Griezmann behind Costa would be absolutely lethal.

Griezmann behind Costa would be absolutely lethal. How much did Atletico get him for? Was it not over £30 million (probably the Costa money). I honestly don't think we would spend the £40-50 million it takes for a single player just now, even more so with no CL.
May 10, 201610 yr At 25 years of age, I reckon we would get two seasons from Griezmann before Madrid or such swoop. He's that good. France really have some squad right now when you think about it.
May 10, 201610 yr It was 24m I'm sure. I remember him being less than Lallana at the time and I laughed so much at the scousers.
May 10, 201610 yr If you put together the money we spent on Cuadrado, Salah and Papa we probably would be able to spend the £40-50 million. Now that's a depressing thought!
May 13, 201610 yr Has he said this? If so maybe money won't even persuade him. This isn't much of a surprise considering our situation though. We will just need to scout smarter.
