April 16, 201610 yr I think some people are forgetting that RLC is only 20 theres still a lot he can improve on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
April 16, 201610 yr Hopefully plays for England! Will probably end up like Jordi cruyff though, it will be hard living in his dad's shadow let alone his grandads! I gotta agree, I don't see him becoming a superstar to be honest. He may want to leave the sport entirely at a young age knowing that even if he becomes as good as his father, he'll still never be as good as his grandfather. And with the priveleges and opportunities he'll always get just by name dropping, he has his pick of industries in which to establish himself. Then again, I can't really see Maradona letting hours grandson quit easily. Plus, the kid will probably think he's better than he is because youth coaches won't make him compete and earn his spot or take him off if he's bad. (Although if they ever dreamed of talking with Kun or Maradona on the phone.... ) I wonder if Kun and Maradona would have become who they are if they were developed in Benjamin's circumstances. Kun and Maradona grew up in the slums (and Argentinian slums are worse than anything you'll find in England) playing on the streets where football was seen as a way out of poverty. Benjamin on the other hand is in an academy with great facilities where the training is super structured, and he is financially set for life. I wonder that about other players too, whether the kids that excel in an academy would have become as good if they learned on the streets and vice versa. I'm having trouble thinking of superstar father/son sets let alone grandfather/son/grandson sets. There are several superstars who have relatives who were good but not superstar level. Frank Lampard Sr was a good player but not a superstar like his son. Likewise Kasper Schmeichel is a good player but not a superstar like his father.
April 16, 201610 yr Baring that missed tackle on Fernandinho that eventually led to the penalty, which I'll still give him some credit for even attempting as Ivanovic was nowhere to be seen, I think Cahill played well. Got in a few goal saving interceptions and was very unlucky with the deflection, unfortunately for him the rest of the defensive unit had probably their worst performance of the season so it made him look terrible.
April 16, 201610 yr It's difficult to see where we go from here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtKADQnjQmc
April 16, 201610 yr Only read last couple of pages and not sure why Ruben is the target of cheap shots...there are many more deserving players in front of him in the queue
April 16, 201610 yr Apologies if anyone has made this point already but do Chelsea spend any time practicing corner routines. We seem to have loads today and every one was sh*t. No variation with short corner routines either. I remember when we were good at set pieces. Oh..and for a club in 4th, Clitys travelling support is an embarrassment.
April 16, 201610 yr I want to be cryogenically frozen until next season starts Or until we're decent again, reminds me of Demolition Man.
April 16, 201610 yr I'm not sure we'll go up next season more than 3 places, and we can easily go down the same. The PL table gets jolted every once in a while followed by a period of calm where the new hierarchy becomes the status quo. Almost like the pattern we see with some technological innovations. My sense is that once you're in the top group (which I think of as qualifying Europe) you're sort of there until the next jolt, and once you're out you're sort of out until the next jolt. The mid table is super competitive. While you can usually predict better than chance who will be in the mid table, it's really hard to predict the exact standings. All the teams are pretty inconsistent and have good runs and bad runs. You wouldn't be in the middle if you were consistently good or consistently bad. Of course the past doesn't necessarily predict the future.
April 16, 201610 yr ^ Upon rereading, I might not have communicated well. What I mean is that, while it's definitely not a perfect correlation, placement one year is the best predictor of placement the next year.
April 16, 201610 yr What sh*te...most players obviously dreaming of hols/the Euros already A few of them didn't even bother turning up this season after their last summer holiday in 2015. I can accept a lot of things, but not the complete lack of passion, commitment and effort that some of this lot showed this season. The fans deserve better than that.
April 16, 201610 yr Note to "OFFSIDE". Personally I can't see how you can predict anything about next season but I'm convinced a good manager will sort us out. Edited April 16, 201610 yr by Petworth Chelsea Fan
April 16, 201610 yr At least the season will be over soon. Then we have the Euros and England getting dumped out at an early stage after the group games. Same old, same old. Hopefully next season will be better
April 16, 201610 yr Don't remember feeling so disappointed/embarrassed with a Chelsea match for a long time. So many players just going through the motions - no desire, leadership and very little quality. Ruben was strolling through the match like a seasoned pro who's won all there is to win. You wouldn't think he's a 20 year old lad trying to break into the first team. It wouldn't surprise me to see 5 or 6 so called big names sold this summer & it can't happen soon enough. April 17, 201610 yr It was a crap game. I mean, cmon, an overweight Nasri was creating the danger and running more than our defenders!? But it was alright, the fans were also at the same pace and we didn't sing much or anything. The ManCity stand was also 3/4 full, and those that came were very silent. So the whole match was like it didn't matter. They scored at three counters without much difficulty and you could feel they were playing at 50% intensity. The only good thing was to see three youngsters play. I hope that we can give hell to the Spuds in a couple of weeks, but given what we've seen in the last couple of games, they will pass all over us with not much work. I just hope Leicester is up to the challenge of winning the league. Bring on the next season, and we need a clear out.

I thought RLC was best when Traore and Kenedy came on. But I agree, youngsters in other countries are so much better at that age for first teams.
