Difference is that there is a manager who will be willing to play him. 

Jose did not play him when Lukaku's only competition was Torres, Ba. Infact he thought getting a semi retired 33 year old etoo was a better deal. Jose even started schurrle ahead of lukaku at OT. with Jose, Lukaku had no chance. So a lot depends on the way a manager treats a player.

Young and potential? We kept saying that about Oscar and now i have reached my breaking point with him. Lukaku will be more of a Benteke than a Ruud.

Hazard as a 2nd striker is a much better option than playing him as a LM in a 4-4-2.

Buying Lukaku while having Costa, Batshuayi, Traore, Hazard is just foolish, specially when we desperately need  1CB, 1 LB.

Everton fan, visiting temporarily. One or two of you might remember me from last year and the Stones saga that went on.

 

Andy Hunter, who covers Everton matters closely for the Guardian and is based in Liverpool, insists that we haven't even received a single bid from you for Lukaku. He's very well informed and cautious, and doesn't normally print something like that without being quite certain. Personally, I'm inclined to believe him over the Mail, Express and Evening Standard, none of whom have any quotes or substance backing their articles.

 

I know there's mixed opinion on here about paying somewhere in the £60-75m range for an ex-player that you sold, and also because a number of you just don't rate him that highly for the level you require, which is perfectly understandable. A number of our fans would agree with you (although the majority would prefer to keep him, I think, which is also my view). He's a very good player on his day, he does score goals and would get 20+ a season but as we all know he does have some limitations.

 

Anyway, I'm mainly posting just to say, I don't think we'll be selling him. Stones to City is pretty much a done deal, and I don't think we'll sell both.

Yup. With Andreas on the roster, Zouma in the squad, we atleast have 2 young CBs for the next year. So need to get one.

But we literally dont have a half decent LB.

to be fair, both our signings (kante and bats) came out of nowhere really. i don't think we expected them to be signed as quick as they was, so we never know what is going on behind the scenes. for all we know, the board could be working frantically trying to make deals for our main targets, then BAM they are signed!

nothing concrete, seem to be all rumors and if we are to believe the Everton supporter who posted earlier quoting a well respected journalist based in Liverpool who always provided informed news on Everton, we actually never placed a bid on Lukaku

Arias almost always plays as a RB, it'd just be like signing a new Azpilicueta to play him out of position..

Yeah its mostly newspapers to be honest but its the times who are saying that we want costa and lukaku together. Whats the problem with having costa and lukaku starting and having michy and traore as the backups? Sell remy to turkey or wherever he was linked to

I wouldn't put too much stock in what a poster puts in here. For all we know he could have got his wires crossed or the likes.

No smoke without fire comes to mind and loads of places some reputable...some not so much are running with this.
