February 10, 201610 yr Jose's legacy is hugely tainted for me. I really do think he got himself fired on purpose. I just can't explain his doctor rant, the continuous selection of players not playing for him, the moronic excuses after every game etc. What makes me more angry is he has left my club in tatters by selling creative young talents and has now effed off.
February 10, 201610 yr Tainted love. Fired on purpose? Is there accidental firing? Dr? Dr Who? (Idris Elba tipped as new Dr.) Tatters? Thought we improved along the way. I didn't know Jose had sole control of the purse , but then being a moron he was probably only given pocket money when he was a good boy. Edited February 10, 201610 yr by Droogba

I don't think he got himself fired on purpose and the rants can be explained by one thing - pressure. The man puts enormous pressure on himself and his players to succeed, and I think he felt like he was hung out to dry this season by the club's failure to improve the squad when it clearly needed it. As for selling creative young talents, he had to sell players to buy and the players he bought won the title in his second year. In the last 3 seasons we've had a net spend of £64 million. In that same period Man United had a net spend of £198 million and Man City had a net spend of £250 million. The club clearly haven't opened the purse strings for some reason and it's fairly remarkable that he managed to win last year. So for the club to then weaken the squad he had to use, you're going to put pressure on the man and he clearly didn't react well to it. So if you're looking for people to blame for leaving the club in tatters, I think you need to cast the net wider.

February 10, 201610 yr Sorry ShedEnder but Ffs I'm tired of the crap excuse and defense of him about the board not backing him. He wanted us to bring in players that would have cost in excess of 100m. Can't this bloody coach not do well with a title winning squad and bring through youth??? Arsenal, Spurs and Leicester don't spend much and are all challenging. Clear and simple, his tactics and approach to games were rubbish and dated. He didn't have to sell players, he chose to sell players and forced them out due to not giving them a chance. KDB and Lukaku wanted first team football, give them a chance to prove themselves for 5 games in a row instead of judging them after one performance. Us winning the league was not remarkable. Our squad on paper was on par or slightly weaker than City. What Leicester and Spurs are doing is remarkable considering their finances and youth development. So many excuses for Jose, how can we complain about net spend when his gross spend has been enormous and the talent that were sold, were ostracised by him? Not the boards fault. Let the whinging one go to Utd, I just hope no CFC fans wish him any luck. Oh and I fully expect him to sell Mata. If he doesn't, he's a grade a c**t.

Arsenal, Spurs and Leicester don't spend much and are all challenging. I'd love to see us bring through youth, but I still think there's a space for improving the squad in the market. Spurs have done brilliantly but both Leicester and Arsenal have spent more than us over the last two years (Net). I've disagreed with his tactics at times, but I've also believed that he lacked the resources to do what he wanted as well. As for us not having to sell players, I don't know if that's true. He's said before that he had to sell to buy and I don't see a reason not to believe him. Us winning the league was not remarkable. Our squad on paper was on par or slightly weaker than City. What Leicester and Spurs are doing is remarkable considering their finances and youth development. Our team was as strong as City's but I still believe they had a far stronger squad and in the summer they went and improved it even more. We made our squad weaker. Net spend takes into account what you lose from the squad as well. I personally believe we needed additional spend to improve the squad to a point where we could retain the title and go further in Europe. The club didn't do that. I know it's easier to blame someone who isn't at the club anymore than accept that we might still have issues and you're right about some of Jose's issues but he was undermined and hamstrung by the board in the summer and the worry is that they'll do the same with the next manager.

So, you really claiming his tactics became obsolete over the course of one summer? Because those tired and dated tactics broke yet another BPL record last season, longest time spent at the top of the table over a seaon. Not remarkable? I think record breaking is kind of a hallmark of remarkable, then add he was the first manager in a decade to win the league while making a profit in transfers. I guess Mourinho forced out Azpiliqueta and Zouma too, they got less playing time than KDB. Wait, they are still here and thriving..... Oh, and Lukaku coming out personally to thank Mourinho? Ya, again another hallmark of when you've been ostracized by someone. City had a clearly stronger squad last season. What Leicester is doing is remarkable, if they keep the pace it will be recognized as the greatest acheivement in the history of the BPL. What is your point? Even the Tinkerman has said that is exceptional and that next year Leicester will struggle to even be top half of the table. Not the boards fault? You know that Mourinho can't buy or sell a player without their approval, right? For one tired of crap excuses and defences, you seem to like wallowing in it when attacking Mourinho. Oh, and if you think we didn't need Cesc or Costa to win the title last season then please pass me what you're smoking. It's got to be some amazing sh*t.

Don't get angry with Jose just because he might join Man Utd. You lot sacked him TWICE. What's he supposed to do, never take a job in England again? It's not like he is taking over Spurs or Arsenal.

He goes on about Mourinho not being able to get anything out of this title winning squad.....forgetting that this squad only ever looked like champions when they were actually carrying out Mourinho's tactics with intent and purpose. So the questions to me become "Did this Mourinho disappoint with this squad this season or did he massively overachieve with this squad last season?" To me it's pretty clear but Im biased. You? Maybe you're biased too as you did point out that last time Mourinho left CFC with a title winning squad, it was good enough to nearly win the treble under Avram Grant the next season. This season Hiddink took over and, prior to this season, he had the best win % of any BPL manager EVER to manage more than 10 games...... I suspect he no longer holds that claim. Hiddink isn't exactly getting much out of the current squad either. Mourinho isn't perfect but there is something wrong at Chelsea behind the scenes IMO. Or the players aren't as good as we all think and Mourinho got them playing much better than they actually are - exactly what Fergie did with some of our squads time and time again.
February 10, 201610 yr ShedEnder Our net spend was lower due to the fact that we got a ridiculous price for Luiz. Unlike those other clubs, Jose wasn't forced to sell his best and most talented players. He chose to sell them through an act of tyrany and arrogance. To say Oscar is a better number 10 than Mata was and still to this day is a ridiculous claim. Maybe to an extent he did have to sell to buy, but he sold mostly the wrong players. Why sell Schurle and sign Cuadrado? People blaming the board for signing Papy but not a word is said about Falcao who Jose clearly implied was his signing. City's squad has always been stronger, it didn't stop Utd with a poor squad winning the 2013 title. The strongest squad doesn't always win if the next challenger wasn't much weaker. They improved by signing a player Jose didn't trust. Other than that, the likes of Ottamendi, Sterling and Delph have been far from great. I would say the additional spend excuse if we finished 2ND-6th. There is absolutely no excuse for us being in the position he left us. Listen, if I wanted the sack without trying to be obvious, I would make false promises and not trust any youth academy players, I would continue to play players who are supposedly against me and I would drag the clubs name through the mud starting internal wars. I can mask this by using my reputation as a winner so that the fans and media will think I have tried my best in whatever situation and moan that my squad is too weak to even challenge for top 4.

Or the players aren't as good as we all think and Mourinho got them playing much better than they actually are - exactly what Fergie did with some of our squads time and time again. Completely agree and I would point to the last MUFC title win as evidence. Think the squad was fairly weak and had no business being in the top 3(IMO), yet they won the league by something like 14 points. No way to ever prove it, but I suspect that squad would of struggled to keep pace with the top four had anyone other than SAF been in charge. OG was one of the leading scorers but thats the nature of the ebast when you have a top top manager, you collect points you dont really deserve but just damn well grab anyways because you dare not go into the dressing room without them.
February 10, 201610 yr Ferdie was able to rebuild squads and didn't need to throw crazy money at the problem either, when other clubs spent more. I was a massive fan of Jose, I'm just not who like him makes excuses when it all goes wrong.
February 10, 201610 yr To say Oscar is a better number 10 than Mata was and still to this day is a ridiculous claim. Oscar was playing rings around Mata at the time. The glory of hindsight doesn't let you say you were right all along.
February 10, 201610 yr What you guys don't understand is that we were in 16th halfway through the season. Worse reigning champions by some distance all because Jose couldn't land Pogba and Stones for a combined 100m. No manager at any club would survive such a bad run.
February 10, 201610 yr He chose to sell them through an act of tyrany and arrogance. Also one of the top 10 most ridiculous sentences posted on this site.

Would it hurt your argument if I pointed out that this season, after 25 games, MCFC is in 4th with 47 points yet last season, after 25 games, MCFC had 52 points and sat 2nd? You'll have to explain how that's an improvement and that is without things like MCFC not beating a top 4 (actually I think top 6) team yet this season.
February 10, 201610 yr Stim It's not hindsight. I knew that statement was rubbish from the start. Never rated Oscar as I do Mata plus at the time Oscar wasn't consistent every game. He still went missing every 2 games.
February 10, 201610 yr What you guys don't understand is that we were in 16th halfway through the season. Worse reigning champions by some distance all because Jose couldn't land Pogba and Stones for a combined 100m. No manager at any club would survive such a bad run. Those were the only players that could improve the squad or just the ones the board threw panic bids at once the season had started and it was obvious the problems from the end of last season (well second half of last season) were still plaguing the team? I suspect if we look around we could find numerous players, for a fraction of the fee, who would be challenging the starters for their position. I suspect a huge part of the problem this season was that, in reality, there was such a lack of genuine competition for first team players that they could afford to be complacent and not give their all..... As you state, their is no excuse for this team being in 16th and that includes it not mattering who the manager is. Only the players can win the points on matchday. The manager can help. help massively, but only if the players buy into their system and are willing to give their all in fulfilling what the manager asks. We've seen that from this very group, no?
February 10, 201610 yr Barry no it wouldn't. So they are 5 points better off. Spurs spent next to nothing, how's their season compared to last ?
February 10, 201610 yr ShedEnder Our net spend was lower due to the fact that we got a ridiculous price for Luiz. Over Jose's time here, our net spend was roughly £200 million lower than City's and (off the top of my head) £100 million lower than United's - Luiz's inflated price doesn't cover that. Here is my issue with the whole thing - the board took a squad that struggled in the second half of last season and weakened it. It's not just that they didn't spend, it's that in our 'sell to buy' modern reality we took experienced winners of character and replaced them with inferior players. Jose has never in his career had that happen to him has he? Should he have done better than he was? Absolutely. But if you put someone who is so demanding of success in a position in which they will struggle to succeed then they will not react positively. Mourinho is an ambitious coach and the board didn't show any ambition last summer and that is why I think he had what some might call a breakdown. But I don't think for a minute he wanted to get sacked. I think his desperation in those last few weeks was clear for all to see.
