Always subjective lists like these, a few of the players are before my time so can't really comment on those. Not sure though how Bale, Gerrard and Barnes could be in a top 20  yet no place for Gazza.

Absolute joke of a list, Gerrard and bale over Gascoigne is a farce, and no place for the best scoring midfielder in the history of the game?

Lampard and Scholes for Gerrad and Barnes, easy decision for any football fan, bar dippers.

Or the best CB the Premier has ever seen.

Apologies if this has already been posted. From the Daily Telegraph and it lists its top 20 footballers from the U.K.

Some interesting selections and omissions. I appreciate it's subjective but I would certainly have Lampard in there. Interesting that Jimmy Johnstone has been picked and not Jim Baxter. Baxter was a much better player but then I am biased to the blue half of Glasgow. Difficult to argue with the number one choice.

I'm sorry but Gerard's inclusion is so odd, his on field achievements don't come close to pretty much every other name on that list.

I would make a case for Lampard, Terry, Ashley Cole, Scholes, Ferdinand, Rooney to be ahead of him.

Not forgetting Michael Owen who won the Ballon D'or.

Lampard v Gerrard for mine is a tough call. They never really worked that well together because they're quite similar (although Lampard tended to bomb into the box from a further distance). At his absolute peak I'd probably take Gerrard, but Lampard IMO was more consistent.

I wonder if Lampard and Terry will get the same praise as Gerrard when they retire.........no other player has received the same amount of praise so i doubt it. They have achieved more in the game so there is no reason why they shouldn't.

I just don't get this media love for Gerrard. Why do they treat him like some sort of god amongst footballers ? What makes him so amazing compared to players of the past and present who achieve far more in their careers ?

Klopp having a real go at the Anfield crowd for not getting behind the team.

Funny....I thought they had the best fans and the best atmosphere in the world.

Sorry to say I still think Liverpool will inevitably win this match even though they have been so poor

This had better jinx it for Liverpool.

God, I despise Liverpool.

i love that word "despise". It really communicates a deep sense of loathing, much better than "hate"

they are indeed truly unbearable
