So I just sat through all the Arsenal FanTV episodes that are up so far. My takes on thIngs...

Arsenal fans are really ungrateful for what Wenger has done for them over the years, yeah it might not be great now but he brought them to where they are.

They really take for granted the fact that they make top four almost every single season which all banter aside is an achievement in itself, most teams would kill to be in that position.

There players seem to escape so much of the blame for results and it's all laying at the feet of Wenger, surely the attitude and commitment of players needs to be called in to question as well.

They're delusional about some of the managers they could get... Pep, Jose, Allegri etc.

The players shouldn't escape blame and of course its down to Wenger they are even there but they capitulate far too easy. Maybe thats down to Wenger as well.

Banter aside, they should have someone better than him. Thats a top job and 4th every year isn't cutting it. When opposition want your manager to stay you are in trouble.

I'm gonna probably get blasted here but I think this team is going to regress when Wenger leaves. Despite all of the ineptitude over the years, I think he has overachieved with this squad and done more than most managers could have done. I think they are going to be forced to take a manager that isn't going to be able to take them to where they want to go and the likes of Koscielny, Ozil and Sanchez jump ship. Who can they realistically bring in that can do what Wenger has done? I think they have been at the top so long they feel entitled to it but if anything was proven by our last season you are entitled to NOTHING. You have to earn it.

I think their squad is as good if not better than ours. If anything they have been under-acheiving massively for the last 5 years.

Its not just the quality of the squad, its also the fact that its a "settled" squad, with a "settled" manager and "settled" system. By now most of that squad should know the others inside out. They have been playing together for some time, yet its the same story every year.

What wenger has done for the last 3/4 years, can be done by any top manager in the world.

I guess we will see next year because I think it's over now. Wenger is history and this team has to figure it out with a new manager. Unfortunately for Arsenal I don't think Ozil and Sanchez are gonna stick around and they will probably leave. It will be interesting to see where they end up next year.

Totally agree that Ozil and Sanchez will leave. I think the worst thing wenger could have done was dropping Sanchez and probably making the decision for him to leave the club.

I have tiny bit of sympathy for Wenger, 1:1 and down to 10 men he's in between a rock and a hard place. However, most managers would have put on a defender to aim for a respectable draw, not like what Wenger did.  The couldn't defend properly with their best 4 defenders, what hope did they have with 3 defenders and a midfielder playing in the backline? Wenger was asking for a spanking, and the Germans reluctantly accepted. Was that arrogance or stupidity? I can't judge that.  They will miss Sanchez, not sure about Ozil. I don't think his performance in the last 2 seasons would attract lots of byers.

I reckon behind all the painful scenes, Robbie loved it when Arsenal lose, the views are going through the roof. Let's face it, most of us won't be watching them if they win their FA cup game this weekend.

MOST managers probably couldn't have done what he's done lately with the squad they have but he's made that situation his own. It's been painfully obvious for years what they need to seriously challenge and it hasn't been addressed. Any sensible manager who comes in will look at their lack of CB, CM and whatever other positions he feels they need and look to fix it. There's no reason they should be behind Liverpool or Spurs given the resources they have in my eyes.

Ffs I need to stop defending them asap. What am I saying

Really ? I can't think of many players in their team i would take over ours.

Cech ahead of Begovic as back up goal keeper, Sanchez ahead of Pedro, Koscielny maybe ( but i think it can be argued that all of our cb's are outperforming him at the moment ) I can't think of anyone else i would take from their squad over ours, especially in the first team. We have better players all over the pitch.

You know what I think is funny for all Arsenal's Top 4 finishes they haven't won the CL once and got to the final once. Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United have all won it, been in and out the competition yet have been in more than one final in all that time they've been getting consistent Top 4 finishes. It's really nothing to brag about that they get Top 4 nor is it that great of an achievement when you never look like winning it.

I think we are saying this because we have found a perfect system to play in.

If i asked you after the arsenal and pool defeats, would you take xhaka over matic? or kos over DL/GC or ozil over cesc (I feel both are at the same level).

walcott or ox over moses? bellerin over iva (since he was our starting RB).

I am not saying arsenal has a miles-ahead better squad but the difference in squad quality is very minimal. Its simply the fact that we have found a system to play in. Would alonso be as good in a back 4? Dont think so. Whats worse is that wenger has been with them for 20 years, and the core of this squad has been with him for atleast 3 seasons, and yet he cant find a system where he can make them work efficiently. In no way, is the arsenal squad 16 points worse off than the chelsea squad.

These 16 points are simply the difference between the managers.

is it really going to change for arsenal though? i think the board is half the problem. they seem reluctant to spend, and are content with 4th place. if the board has that attitude then how is the manager supposed to think.

They spent 90mil (net) in the summer.

No it didn't, it was just as cringe worthy.

It would be funny if one of those players just walked on and did nothing

Each to their own but those are NBA players where the culture is totally different and those actions actually suit them. They have a certain swagger about them which makes it look good to watch. Also commendable  how they all remember each individual handshake.

They are never going to compete financially with us, city or utd though. Thry will likely end up losing sanchez in summer for less than they would like, and ozil could go too. If this happens I don't see who they're replacing them with. They simply don't have a good enough squad. Wenger has done as good as can be done with that lot. All the top managers are already at the best clubs, so arsenal could make a mistake sacking wenger. He should be given an open chequebook, but it won't happen. The manager is not the only one responsible for who to buy and for how much.

There's no mistake in sacking Wenger. At any other top club he'd have been booted out long ago.

He spent 90 million on top of having players like Ozil, Cech, Sanchez and co. No excuses for the sh*t they serve up...it's on him make no mistake.

Guy's a fossil and done as a manager

So would Spurs, but atleast their is progression in the club.

How do you say they dont have a good enough squad? Simply cant agree with that.

Wenger has done nothing that any other half-decent manager would not have been able to do. With united in transition/chelsea in transition/city in transition/pool no where near good enough, wenger has still not been able to win the league for the last 5 years. How is that "good enough"?

I agree with most of that but we were the same to some extent with Jose. You heard some guff on here calling him names and wanting him sacked on the spot despite him bringing things to the club that we never had for 50 years.

Fans of any club are going to turn on managers when they start to decline, it's a miracle it's taken this long with Wenger tbh. It's been a decade of underachieving watching clubs around you grow while you stagnate into a Liverpool. I don't really blame any of their fans wanting him out, they have given him long enough to sort the mess out...winning titles 10 years previously doesn't really make what's happening today acceptable IMO.

What do you mean by "were". Have not you been to the Jose thread lately?

Does anyone think Sanchez and Ozil might stay if they sack Wenger? Everyone seems adamant that they will leave but I think Sanchez' main problem is Wenger and his attitude. If they sack him their top players might want to stay and see if things change with their new manager, especially if they manage to bring a top manager in.

His cycle is surely over, I kinda think he just wanted to get to the 20 mile milestone and that he checked out mentally long ago.
